An e-liquid is a consumable intended exclusively for e-cigarettes. The 100 ml format is sold nicotine-free, generally in a 120 ml bottle designed to hold up to two boosters. It can be vaped as is at 0 mg/ml or topped up with one or two nicotine boosters. For a higher strength, prepare the mixture in a large graduated empty bottle. Rich in vegetable glycerine, it is thicker, gentler on the throat and produces dense vapour, for direct or restricted direct-to-lung vaping on sub-ohm equipment.
Adding a booster is optional: 100 ml e-liquid can be vaped perfectly well without nicotine. In direct-to-lung vaping, nicotine is felt more strongly than in MTL: with a 30/70 e-liquid, lower strengths are recommended.
| Boosters added (10 ml at 20 mg/ml) | Final volume | Strength obtained | Container | Profile |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| None | 100 ml | 0 mg/ml | Original bottle | Nicotine-free vaping, full flavour enjoyment |
| 1 booster | 110 ml | ≈ 2 mg/ml | Original bottle | Low nicotine requirement, DL vaping |
| 2 boosters | 120 ml | ≈ 3 mg/ml | Original bottle | Occasional smoker, DL vaping |
| 3 boosters | 130 ml | ≈ 4.5 mg/ml | Large graduated bottle | Moderate smoker, RDL vaping |
| 4 boosters | 140 ml | ≈ 6 mg/ml | Large graduated bottle | Moderate smoker, RDL vaping |
The resulting strengths are rounded (exactly 1.8, 3.3, 4.6 and 5.7 mg/ml). The original 120 ml bottle holds a maximum of two boosters: from three boosters onwards, the mixture must be transferred to a large bottle. For DL vaping on coils below 0.4 Ω, a strength above 3 mg/ml quickly becomes irritating: two boosters are generally sufficient. For nicotine requirements above 6 mg/ml, the 10 ml format or nicotine salts are more suitable.

Le Vapoteur Discount boosters come in 10 ml bottles (dosage shown on each product page). The type of nicotine and base affect the throat sensation. With a 30/70 e-liquid, a 50/50 or nicotine salt booster retains smoothness; with 50/50 boosters, the mixture remains close to 35/65.
| Booster | Sensation | For whom? |
|---|---|---|
| 50/50 nicotine booster | Classic throat hit, neutral flavour | The standard choice, compatible with all ratios |
| 70/30 nicotine booster | More pronounced throat hit, enhanced flavours | MTL vaping, for those seeking a sensation close to smoking |
| Fresh 50/50 nicotine booster | Classic throat hit with a fresh touch | Fans of fresh fruity or menthol flavours |
| Nicotine Salt Booster | Very smooth throat hit | Vapers sensitive to throat hit or looking for smoothness |
| Fresh Nicotine Salt Booster | Smooth, fresh throat hit | The smoothness of salts with a fresh note |
| Hybrid Nicotine Booster | Balance between throat hit and smoothness | A compromise between classic nicotine and nicotine salts |

An e-liquid consists of a propylene glycol (PG) and vegetable glycerine (VG) base, flavourings and, where applicable, nicotine. PG carries the flavours and throat hit, while VG provides smoothness and vapour volume. With 70% VG, this ratio favours dense vapour and a gentle throat sensation.

Being more viscous, a 30/70 e-liquid requires coils with large e-liquid inlets. In a pod or MTL clearomiser, it does not saturate the cotton properly and can cause dry hits (a burnt taste).
30/70 performs at its best on sub-ohm equipment, which can deliver power and feed the coil correctly. Here are the most suitable equipment types and a few examples available from Le Vapoteur Discount:
| Equipment | Key points | Examples |
|---|---|---|
| Box mod | Powerful battery-mod kits fitted with a sub-ohm clearomiser. | Kit Aegis Legend 5 – GeekVape Kit Gen Max – Vaporesso Kit Armour Max 220 W iTank T – Vaporesso |
| Pods | Powerful pod mods compatible with sub-ohm coils. | Kit Luxe XR Max 2 – Vaporesso Kit Drag X3 – Voopoo Pod Drag X2 – Voopoo |
| Clearomisers | Choose sub-ohm models compatible with coils from 0.15 to 0.6 Ω. | iTank T Dual Mesh – Vaporesso Z SubOhm 5 – GeekVape UForce-X – Voopoo |
The coil resistance and power determine the type of draw. With a 30/70 e-liquid, higher power is needed to vaporise VG effectively:
| Coil | Type of draw | Indicative power | Suitable nicotine strength |
|---|---|---|---|
| 0.4 to 0.6 Ω | RDL – restricted airy draw | 25 to 40 W | 3 to 6 mg/ml |
| 0.2 to 0.4 Ω | DL – airy draw | 40 to 70 W | 0 to 3 mg/ml |
| 0.15 to 0.2 Ω | DL – very airy draw | 60 to 90 W | 0 to 3 mg/ml |
Always observe the power range stated on the coil and start at the bottom of that range. For the drip tip, a wide 810-format mouthpiece makes direct-to-lung vaping and the flow of a large volume of vapour easier.
Remember to recycle: empty bottles should be taken to appropriate collection points.

An e-liquid (or electronic cigarette liquid) is the product that generates vapour when heated by the coil of an electronic cigarette. Unlike traditional cigarettes, there is no combustion. The e-liquid is composed of a base (propylene glycol and vegetable glycerin), flavourings, and optionally nicotine. It determines the taste, throat hit, cloud production, and overall vaping experience.
An e-liquid generally contains four elements:
Some formulas also use alternative plant-based bases (Végétol) for extra smoothness.
An e-liquid with nicotine is intended for vapers who wish to replace traditional cigarettes. Nicotine acts on the feeling of satisfaction and reduces cravings. Nicotine-free e-liquids are used either at the end of a cessation programme or purely for the pleasure of vaping, although it is not recommended to vape if you are not a smoker. Choosing the right nicotine strength is essential to avoid a poor experience (irritation or cravings). The nicotine dosage depends on your previous cigarette consumption. A light smoker will not have the same needs as a heavy smoker. A strength that is too low can lead to frustration and relapse, while a strength that is too high can cause throat discomfort. The goal is to find a balance between throat hit, sensation, and vaping comfort, adjusting gradually as needed. A low dosage of 0, 3, or 6 mg/ml nicotine is generally recommended for light or occasional smokers (fewer than 7 cigarettes per day), and a high dosage of 20 mg/ml nicotine salt for heavy smokers (one pack of cigarettes or more). However, this dosage can be adjusted depending on your electronic cigarette and your vaping style.
Nicotine salt is a more stable and smoother form of nicotine to inhale. It provides rapid absorption with a less harsh throat hit, even at high strengths. Nicotine salt e-liquids are particularly well suited to beginner vapers, former heavy smokers, and low-wattage MTL kits. Nicotine salts come in various strengths. The most well-known and effective is 20 mg/ml, which is highly suited to heavy smokers. However, a 10 mg/ml strength can work very well for regular or occasional smokers.
A nicotine booster is a concentrated nicotine bottle, designed to be added to a large-format e-liquid. It allows you to adjust the final nicotine level according to the quantity added. Flexible and cost-effective, this solution allows you to boost your large-format e-liquid to 3 or 6 mg/ml of nicotine. For a 50 ml e-liquid, adding one nicotine booster will give you 3 mg/ml, while two nicotine boosters will turn your e-liquid into 6 mg/ml.
The propylene glycol / vegetable glycerin ratio has a strong influence on the vaping experience.
The choice therefore depends on the wattage and compatibility with your electronic cigarette. If in doubt, the most common ratio remains 50/50 PG/VG. Well-balanced, it allows versatile use across MTL, RDL, and light DTL electronic cigarette models (approximately between 15 and 40 watts).
Plant-based or Végétol e-liquids replace traditional propylene glycol. They are often gentler on the throat, better tolerated by vapers who are sensitive to PG, and provide a smoother vape without compromising on flavour. However, they should be used in MTL mode at a low wattage (minimum 30 watts) to avoid the risk of leaks and to preserve the quality of the product.
Yes, CBD e-liquids are designed for vaping and generally do not contain nicotine. They offer a different sensation, focused on relaxation, with no addictive effect. They should be used at moderate wattage to preserve the quality of the product. For best results, use them with a tight-draw MTL electronic cigarette.
E-liquids are considered a far healthier alternative to smoked tobacco. They are formulated from ingredients certified as safe for health, unlike the 7,000 harmful substances found in traditional cigarettes. Nevertheless, to choose a safe e-liquid, a few precautions should be taken, such as purchasing your e-liquid from a recognised retailer such as Le Vapoteur Discount, or checking the composition and origin by favouring reputable and regulated brands.
An e-liquid manufactured in France meets strict requirements and European directives regarding traceability, testing, and safety. As a mark of quality and transparency for the consumer, French and European brands generally have their own laboratory for developing their e-liquid formula and are required to have that formulation assessed by an independent laboratory before bringing it to market. These steps guarantee e-liquids that are safe for vapers. These French and European quality standards prohibit undesirable substances and provide a more secure framework for vaping.
To keep your e-liquid as long as possible and preserve its quality, taste, and colour, store it in its original bottle, ideally away from light, heat, and air. Despite these precautions, the e-liquid may sometimes take on a slightly brown tint. Safe and fit for use, this colour is caused by the oxidation of nicotine and may also depend on the flavouring used in the e-liquid. It is generally recommended not to leave the same e-liquid in your clearomiser or pod cartridge for more than 5 days without use, to avoid leaks and excessive oxidation.
The BBD (Best Before Date) or MHD (Minimum Durability Date) is an indicative date. Once the e-liquid's date has passed, it may lose its taste qualities and appearance (colour, fluidity). An e-liquid fresh from the factory will have a BBD of approximately 2 years. Even past its BBD, the e-liquid remains fit for vaporisation and will not be harmful to health.
