The TPD bans nicotine in 50 ml e-liquid bottles
Since 1 January 2017, the European directive governing the use of tobacco and vaping products (TPD) has prohibited the use of nicotine in e-liquid bottles over 10 ml intended for consumers. Indeed, according to Order 2016-623 of 19 May 2016, nicotine is now exclusively intended for 10 ml bottles, which may not contain more than 20 mg/ml. Therefore, it is no longer possible to obtain 50 ml bottles of e-liquid with nicotine!
How do you add nicotine to your 50 ml e-liquid bottles?
Although they do not contain nicotine, bottles of 50 ml e-liquid are designed to accommodate this precious substance, without which smoking cessation would be far more difficult. This is why 50 ml bottles of e-liquid can generally hold 60 to 70 ml of finished product. Therefore, as with DIY e-liquids, you will need to add nicotine to your e-liquid bottles yourself using boosters.
Follow these guidelines to achieve the ideal nicotine strength:
- By adding 1 10 ml nicotine booster at 20 mg/ml to your 50 ml bottle, you will obtain 60 ml of e-liquid at 3 mg/ml.
- By adding 2 boosters to your bottle, you will obtain 70 ml of e-liquid at 6 mg/ml.
- By adding 3 boosters to your bottle, you will obtain 80 ml of e-liquid at 9 mg/ml.
Before pouring in your boosters, check that your e-liquid bottle has enough capacity to hold them! If you require more nicotine, you can choose a mixing bottle with a larger capacity.
