Let's analyse what the difference is between Full Spectrum and Broad Spectrum!
CBD, or Cannabidiol, has become widely democratised in recent years and many products can be found on the market in France. The products available include CBD flowers, CBD oil, CBD e-liquid, CBD cosmetics, etc. Some of them display a mention in their composition, such as Full Spectrum CBD, Broad Spectrum CBD, or CBD Isolate. These terms can be difficult to understand for people who are not experts in the field. To help you see things more clearly, discover the notable differences between Full Spectrum and Broad Spectrum CBD products.
To fully understand the difference between Full Spectrum CBD and Broad Spectrum CBD, it is important to first know what these terms mean. Full Spectrum means complete spectrum and Broad Spectrum translates as wide spectrum. They refer to the molecules present in the hemp plant (Cannabis Sativa L.), that is to say the cannabinoids, the flavonoids, and the terpenes. Cannabinoids are the active molecules, terpenes provide the aromas, and flavonoids are the substances that give colour to the flowers and offer the calming effects of CBD.
Full Spectrum CBD is derived from a complete extraction of the Cannabis plant. To achieve this, all parts of the plant are used, such as the leaves, flowers, small stems, and seeds. This complete extraction makes it possible to obtain a Cannabidiol product with all the cannabinoids present in hemp, namely CBD, CBG, CBN, THC in minute quantities, and many others (more than 140 active molecules). The consumer thus benefits from all the active compounds of the hemp plant (entourage effect).
Broad Spectrum CBD is very similar to Full Spectrum CBD. The only difference between these two products is notably the process. In order to offer a Broad Spectrum Cannabidiol product, a step to remove all traces of THC (9-Delta-Tetrahydrocannabinol) is added. The consumer still benefits from the entourage effect as well as all the benefits of CBD. For this process, the manufacturer also uses all parts of the hemp plant.
Unlike Full Spectrum and Broad Spectrum Cannabidiol, CBD isolate is derived from a pure extraction of the molecule. This means that the product contains only 99% pure CBD. The CBD is isolated from all other Cannabinoids and comes in the form of powder or crystals. This product does not allow you to benefit from the contribution of the other hemp components and therefore the entourage effect.
The percentage of THC in Full Spectrum products is very low and set at 0.3%, in accordance with French legislation. These are regularly tested to verify the THC level present and thus comply with strict regulations. Full Spectrum CBD, just like Broad Spectrum CBD, does not cause any psychotropic effects and does not create dependency. As a result, full spectrum products are not dangerous to health and are 100% legal in France.
It is important to know that the major difference between Broad Spectrum and Full Spectrum products lies in the intensity of the effects felt. The benefits are more or less identical, although the effects are maximised with the entourage effect when the CBD is full spectrum. The beneficial properties of these two types of Cannabidiol are enhanced pain-relief and anti-stress effects. They ease pain and inflammation, reduce stress and anxiety, and help restore quality sleep. According to certain studies, CBD products can help combat certain conditions and diseases (multiple sclerosis, Alzheimer's, Parkinson's, epilepsy, osteoarthritis, arthritis, etc.)
The best choice between broad spectrum and full spectrum Cannabidiol depends on one's expectations as well as other parameters. To choose a Broad Spectrum or Full Spectrum product, the consumer must also take into account their metabolism, situation, and sensitivity to Cannabis. Full spectrum CBD is generally recommended for relieving strong pain, given that thanks to the entourage effect, the properties are maximised. Broad spectrum CBD will be sufficient for easing minor pain and occasional stress. Whatever the case, the user should opt for the product that best meets their needs. For beginners, it is always possible to start by consuming a Broad Spectrum CBD-based product and to turn to a Full Spectrum CBD product if the desired effects are not sufficient.
