An e-liquid is a consumable for electronic cigarettes exclusively. The 10 ml format is the only one authorised to contain nicotine under European regulations. Practical, discreet and easy to carry, it is ideal for trying out a flavour without a long-term commitment or for vaping simply on a daily basis.
The nicotine level of an e-liquid depends on your smoker profile:
Light smoker (fewer than 5 cigarettes per day): 3 to 6 mg/ml of nicotine. If you smoke little, a low nicotine level may be sufficient to satisfy your tobacco cravings.
Moderate smoker (5 to 15 cigarettes per day): 6 to 12 mg/ml of nicotine. For those who smoke regularly, a moderate nicotine level helps to find the sensations and satisfaction that match their habits.
Heavy smoker (more than 15 cigarettes per day): 12 to 18 mg/ml of nicotine. If you smoke a lot, you will probably need a high nicotine level to compensate for the strong sensation of withdrawal and the urge to smoke.
Heavy smoker (more than 20 cigarettes per day): 18 and 20 mg/ml of nicotine. Heavy smokers need the maximum nicotine level to counteract the effects of withdrawal and quitting smoking. Nicotine salt e-liquids (at 20 mg/ml) were designed with them in mind.
This estimate is provided as a guide only: every vaper is unique and may reconsider their nicotine level based on their throat sensation and the equipment used.
Electronic cigarette: balanced PG/VG ratios are suitable for the majority of versatile electronic cigarettes such as the CoolFire Z80 by Innokin, the Zelos M80 Kit by Aspire or the iStick T80 by Eleaf.
Pod: The Soul 2 pod kit by GeekVape and the Vibe SE by Vaporesso.
Clearomizer: versatile models such as the Zenith 2 by Innokin, the GTX18 by Vaporesso or the Zeus Nano 2 by GeekVape are compatible with a balanced PG/VG ratio.
Coil: this ratio is ideal with coils between 1.2 ohm and 0.4 ohm.
Drip tip: a standard 510 drip tip mouthpiece is preferred, but some vapers use it on airy 810 models without experiencing any leaks.
A balanced PG/VG ratio (50/50) can suit a wide power range between 10 and 50 watts.
If you don't smoke, don't vape :)

An e-liquid (or electronic cigarette liquid) is the product that generates vapour when heated by the coil of an electronic cigarette. Unlike traditional cigarettes, there is no combustion. The e-liquid is made up of a base (propylene glycol and vegetable glycerine), flavourings, and optionally nicotine. It determines the taste, throat hit, cloud production, and overall vaping experience.
An e-liquid generally contains four elements:
Some formulas also use alternative plant-based bases (Végétol) for a smoother experience.
An e-liquid with nicotine is intended for vapers who wish to replace the traditional cigarette. Nicotine acts on the feeling of satisfaction and limits cravings. Nicotine-free e-liquids are used either towards the end of a quitting programme or purely for the pleasure of vaping, even though vaping is not recommended if you are not a smoker. Choosing the right nicotine level is essential to avoid a poor experience (irritation or cravings). The nicotine dosage depends on your previous cigarette consumption. A light smoker will not have the same needs as a heavy smoker. A level that is too low can lead to frustration and relapse, while a level that is too high can cause throat discomfort. The goal is to find the right balance between hit, sensation, and vaping comfort, adjusting gradually if needed. A low dosage of 0, 3, or 6 mg/ml of nicotine is generally recommended for light smokers or occasional smokers (fewer than 7 cigarettes per day), and a high dosage of 20 mg/ml of nicotine salt for heavy smokers (one pack of cigarettes or more). However, this dosage can be adjusted according to your electronic cigarette and your vaping style.
Nicotine salt is a more stable form of nicotine that is gentler on inhalation. It provides rapid absorption with a less harsh throat hit, even at high strengths. Nicotine salt e-liquids are particularly well suited to beginner vapers, former heavy smokers, and low-wattage MTL kits. Nicotine salts come in various strengths. The most well-known and effective is 20 mg/ml, which is very suitable for heavy smokers. However, a 10 mg/ml strength can work very well for a regular or occasional smoker.
A nicotine shot is a nicotine-concentrated bottle designed to be added to a large-format e-liquid. It allows you to adjust the final nicotine level according to the quantity added. Flexible and economical, this solution allows you to boost your large-format e-liquid to 3 or 6 mg/ml of nicotine. For a 50 ml e-liquid, adding one nicotine shot will give you 3 mg/ml; two nicotine shots will bring your e-liquid to 6 mg/ml.
The propylene glycol / vegetable glycerin ratio has a strong influence on the vaping experience.
The choice therefore depends on the wattage and compatibility with your e-cigarette. If in doubt, the most common ratio remains 50/50 PG/VG. Balanced, it allows versatile use across MTL, RDL, and light DTL e-cigarette models (roughly between 15 and 40 watts).
E-liquids with a vegetable base or Végétol replace traditional propylene glycol. They are often gentler on the throat, better tolerated by vapers who are sensitive to PG, and offer a smoother vape without compromising on flavour. However, they should be used in MTL mode at low wattage (minimum 30 watts) to avoid the risk of leaks and to preserve the quality of the product.
Yes, CBD e-liquids are designed for vaping and generally do not contain nicotine. They offer a different sensation, focused on relaxation, with no addictive effect. They should be used at moderate wattage to preserve the quality of the product. For these, opt for an MTL electronic cigarette with a tight draw.
E-liquids are considered a much healthier alternative to smoked tobacco. They are formulated from ingredients certified as safe for health, unlike the 7,000 harmful substances found in traditional cigarettes. Nevertheless, to choose a safe e-liquid, a few precautions should be taken, such as purchasing your e-liquid from a recognised retailer like Le Vapoteur Discount or checking the composition and origin by favouring reputable and regulated brands.
An e-liquid manufactured in France meets strict requirements and European directives regarding traceability, quality control, and safety. As a guarantee of quality and transparency for the consumer, French and European brands generally have their own laboratory for developing their e-liquid formula and are required to have that formulation assessed by an independent laboratory before bringing it to market. These steps ensure that e-liquids are safe for vapers. These French and European quality standards prohibit undesirable substances and provide a more secure framework for vaping.
To keep your e-liquid for as long as possible and preserve its quality, taste, and colour, store it in its original bottle, ideally away from light, heat, and air. Despite these precautions, the e-liquid may take on a slightly brown tint. Safe and fit for consumption, this colour is due to the oxidation of nicotine and may also depend on the flavouring used in the e-liquid. It is generally recommended not to keep the same e-liquid in your clearomiser or pod cartridge for more than 5 days if you are not using it, to avoid leaks and excessive oxidation.
The Best Before Date (BBD) or Minimum Durability Date (MDD) is an indicative date. Once the e-liquid's date has passed, it may lose its taste qualities and its appearance (colour, consistency). A factory-fresh e-liquid will have a BBD of approximately 2 years. Even past its BBD, the e-liquid remains suitable for vaporisation and will not be harmful to health.
