Le Vapoteur Discount guide to choosing your 10 ml e-liquid

Essential to any e-cigarette, the e-liquid is the heart of your vaping experience. The 10 ml format is currently the only one authorized to contain nicotine under European regulations. Compact, practical, and easy to carry, it allows you to try a flavor, adjust your nicotine level, or vape daily with ease.
It is also the ideal format to support a tobacco reduction or cessation journey, at your own pace.

What nicotine level should you choose for your e-liquid?

The right nicotine level depends above all on your smoker profile and your habits. The goal is to satisfy cravings without discomfort, while keeping vaping enjoyable.

  • Light smoker (fewer than 5 cigarettes per day)
    0 to 6 mg/ml
    A gentle dosage, sufficient to curb the urge to smoke while providing a light throat sensation.

  • Moderate smoker (5 to 15 cigarettes per day)
    6 to 12 mg/ml
    An ideal balance to find a sensation close to a classic cigarette, without frustration.

  • Heavy smoker (more than 15 cigarettes per day)
    12 to 18 mg/ml
    A higher level, designed to meet a significant nicotine need, particularly at the start of quitting.

  • Heavy smoker (more than 20 cigarettes per day)
    18 to 20 mg/ml
    The maximum permitted dosage, often associated with nicotine salts, for faster absorption and a smoother sensation.

These indications remain guidelines: every vaper is unique. Your personal experience, throat hit, and the equipment used may lead you to adjust your dosage.

Equipment selection for an e-liquid rich in vegetable glycerin VG (30/70 and 20/80)

E-liquids with a dominant vegetable glycerin (VG) base stand out for their thicker texture and their ability to produce dense and generous vapor. They offer a smoother throat sensation and are particularly appreciated by vapers who enjoy direct lung (DL) vaping and large clouds.

E-cigarette

Due to their high viscosity, these e-liquids require powerful subohm e-cigarettes, such as:

Pods

Clearomizers

For optimal e-liquid feeding and to avoid dry hits, it is recommended to use subohm clearomizers, designed for thick liquids:

Coils

Low resistances, between 0.15 ohm and 0.4 ohm, are ideal for efficiently vaporizing an e-liquid rich in VG.

Drip tip

A drip tip wide 810 format is preferable to facilitate direct inhalation and the passage of a large volume of vapor.

Power adjustment

E-liquids rich in VG express themselves fully at high power.
Vaping above 40 watts is recommended, while of course respecting the coil manufacturer's recommendations.

Properly maintaining your e-cigarette

Regular maintenance is essential to ensure a healthy, flavorful, and long-lasting vape:

  • Regularly clean the clearomizer and drip tip to prevent the buildup of residue;
  • Replace the coil as soon as flavors deteriorate or vapor decreases (on average every 2 to 3 weeks) and take the opportunity to fully clean your clearomizer;
  • Avoid leaving a filled tank with the same e-liquid for more than 5 days without use, in order to limit the risk of leaks or flavor degradation.

Usage precautions

  • If you do not smoke, do not vape;
  • Product containing nicotine: prohibited for minors, not recommended for pregnant women or people suffering from cardiovascular disorders or hypertension;
  • In case of allergies, check for the possible presence of allergens (limonene, tree nuts, etc.) indicated on the label;
  • In case of skin contact, rinse thoroughly with water and soap;
  • Store your e-liquids in a dry place, away from light and temperature variations, out of reach of children and animals.

Think about recycling: empty bottles must be disposed of through appropriate channels.

FAQ

An e-liquid (or liquid for e-cigarettes) is the product that generates vapour when heated by the coil of an e-cigarette. Unlike traditional cigarettes, there is no combustion. The e-liquid is composed of a base (propylene glycol and vegetable glycerin), flavourings, and optionally nicotine. It is what determines the taste, the throat sensation, the cloud production, and the overall vaping experience.

An e-liquid generally contains four elements:

  • propylene glycol (PG), which carries the flavours, enhances the throat hit and provides a sensation close to that of a cigarette;
  • vegetable glycerin (VG), responsible for the vapour and the density of the cloud;
  • flavourings, which provide the taste (fruit, mint, classic blonde, indulgent, ice…);
  • nicotine, optional, which helps manage cravings in vapers who are quitting.

Some formulas also use alternative vegetable bases (Végétol) for a smoother experience.

An e-liquid with nicotine is intended for vapers who want to replace traditional cigarettes. Nicotine acts on the feeling of satisfaction and limits cravings. Nicotine-free e-liquids are used either at the end of a quitting process, or purely for the pleasure of vaping, although it is not recommended to vape if you are not a smoker. Choosing the right nicotine level is essential to avoid a bad experience (throat irritation or cravings). The nicotine dosage depends on your previous cigarette consumption. A light smoker will not have the same needs as a heavy smoker. A level that is too low can lead to frustration and relapse, while a level that is too high can cause throat discomfort. The goal is to find a balance between hit, sensation and vaping comfort, adjusting gradually if needed. A low dosage of 0, 3 or 6 mg/ml of nicotine is generally recommended for light smokers or occasional smokers (fewer than 7 cigarettes per day), and a high dosage of 20 mg/ml of nicotine salt for heavy smokers (1 pack of cigarettes or more). However, this dosage can be adjusted depending on your e-cigarette and your vaping style.

Nicotine salt is a more stable form of nicotine that is smoother to inhale. It provides rapid absorption with a less harsh throat hit, even at high levels. Nicotine salt e-liquids are particularly suited to beginner vapers, former heavy smokers, and low-power MTL kits. Various nicotine salt dosages are available. The best-known and most effective is 20 mg/ml, which is well suited to heavy smokers. However, a 10 mg/ml dosage can be perfectly suitable for regular or occasional smokers.

A nicotine booster is a nicotine-concentrated bottle designed to be added to a large-format e-liquid. It allows you to adjust the final nicotine level depending on the quantity added. Flexible and cost-effective, this solution allows you to boost your large-format e-liquid to 3 or 6 mg/ml of nicotine. For a 50 ml e-liquid, adding one nicotine booster will give you 3 mg/ml, while two nicotine boosters will bring your e-liquid up to 6 mg/ml.

The propylene glycol / vegetable glycerin ratio strongly influences the vaping experience.

  • An e-liquid high in propylene glycol or PG (70/30, 80/20) enhances the throat hit, the precision of the flavours and a discreet vape. The e-liquid will be thin and compatible only with MTL equipment with a tight draw to avoid leaks.
  • An e-liquid high in vegetable glycerin or VG (30/70) produces more vapour and cloud, with a softer, sweeter sensation. This thicker e-liquid will be compatible with sub-ohm or shisha-type e-cigarettes, producing large vapour clouds at high wattage.

The choice therefore depends on the wattage and compatibility with your e-cigarette. If in doubt, the most common ratio remains the 50/50 PG/VG. Balanced, it allows versatile use across MTL, RDL and light DTL e-cigarette models (roughly between 15 and 40 watts).

E-liquids with a vegetable base or with Végétol replace traditional propylene glycol. They are often gentler on the throat, better tolerated by vapers who are sensitive to PG, and offer a smoother vape without compromising on flavour. However, they should be used in MTL with low wattage (minimum 30 watts) to avoid the risk of leaking and to preserve the quality of the product.

Yes, CBD e-liquids are designed for vaping and generally contain no nicotine. They offer a different sensation, focused on relaxation, with no addictive effect. They should be used at moderate power to preserve the quality of the product. An MTL e-cigarette with a tight draw is recommended for use with them.

E-liquids are considered a much healthier alternative to smoked tobacco. They are formulated from ingredients certified as safe for health, unlike the 7,000 harmful substances found in traditional cigarettes. Nevertheless, to choose a safe e-liquid, a few precautions should be taken, such as purchasing your e-liquid from a recognised retailer like Le Vapoteur Discount, or checking the composition and origin by favouring reputable and regulated brands.

An e-liquid manufactured in France meets strict requirements and European directives regarding traceability, quality control and safety. As a guarantee of quality and transparency for the consumer, French and European brands generally have their own laboratory for developing their e-liquid formula and are required to have this formulation assessed by an independent laboratory before it is placed on the market. All these steps ensure that e-liquids are safe for vapers. These French and European quality standards prohibit undesirable substances and provide a more secure framework for vaping.

To keep your e-liquid as long as possible and preserve its quality, taste and colour, you should store it in its original bottle and ideally away from light, heat and air. Despite these precautions, the e-liquid may occasionally take on a slightly brown tint. Safe and fit for consumption, this colour is due to the oxidation of nicotine and may also depend on the flavouring used in the e-liquid. It is generally advisable not to keep the same e-liquid in your clearomiser or pod cartridge for more than 5 days if you are not using it, to avoid leaks as well as excessive oxidation.

The DLUO (Best Before Date) or DDM (Minimum Durability Date) is an indicative date. Once the e-liquid's date has passed, it may lose its taste qualities and appearance (colour, fluidity). An e-liquid fresh from the factory will have a DDM of approximately 2 years. Even past the DDM, the e-liquid remains suitable for vaporisation and will not be harmful to health.
