The Le Vapoteur Discount guide to choosing your 10 ml e-liquid

Essential for any electronic cigarette, the e-liquid is the heart of your vaping experience. The 10 ml format is currently the only one permitted to contain nicotine under European regulations. Compact, practical and easy to carry, it allows you to try a flavour, adjust your nicotine level or vape daily with complete simplicity.
It is also the ideal format to support a journey of reducing or quitting tobacco, at your own pace.

What nicotine level should you choose for your e-liquid?

The right nicotine level depends above all on your smoker profile and your habits. The aim is to satisfy the craving without discomfort, whilst keeping vaping enjoyable.

  • Light smoker (fewer than 5 cigarettes per day)
    0 to 6 mg/ml
    A gentle dosage, sufficient to curb the urge to smoke whilst providing a light throat sensation.

  • Moderate smoker (5 to 15 cigarettes per day)
    6 to 12 mg/ml
    An ideal balance to find a sensation close to that of a classic cigarette, without frustration.

  • Heavy smoker (more than 15 cigarettes per day)
    12 to 18 mg/ml
    A higher level, designed to meet a significant nicotine need, particularly at the start of quitting.

  • Heavy smoker (more than 20 cigarettes per day)
    18 to 20 mg/ml
    The maximum permitted dosage, often associated with nicotine salts, for faster absorption and a smoother sensation.

These indications remain guidelines: every vaper is unique. Your personal experience, the throat hit and the equipment you use may lead you to adjust your dosage.

What equipment to use with a fluid e-liquid rich in PG (80/20 to 60/40)?

Thanks to their high propylene glycol content, these e-liquids are fluid, highly aromatic and offer a pronounced hit. They are perfectly suited to indirect vaping (MTL), close to the sensation of a cigarette.

Electronic cigarette

PG-rich e-liquids express themselves fully on compact models focused on flavour delivery, such as:

Pods

They also work very well with high-performance pods that are simple to use:

Clearomisers

For optimal flavour delivery, opt for MTL-oriented clearomisers, such as:

Coils

Ideally, small coils of between 1.2 ohm and 1.8 ohm are preferred, for a smooth, economical and flavourful vape.

Drip tip mouthpiece

A drip tip 510, slim and elongated is recommended to concentrate the aromas and enhance the sensation in the mouth.

What vaping wattage should you favour?

PG-rich e-liquids do not require high wattage.
Vaping at below 20 watts is more than sufficient to fully enjoy the flavours, whilst preserving coil life.

Properly maintaining your electronic cigarette

Regular maintenance is essential to ensure a healthy, flavourful and long-lasting vape:

  • Regularly clean the clearomiser and the drip tip to prevent the build-up of residue;
  • Replace the coil as soon as flavours deteriorate or vapour production decreases (on average every 2 to 3 weeks) and take the opportunity to clean your clearomiser thoroughly;
  • Avoid leaving a filled tank with the same e-liquid for more than 5 days without use, to limit the risk of leaks or flavour degradation.

Usage precautions

  • If you do not smoke, do not vape;
  • Product containing nicotine: prohibited for minors, not recommended for pregnant women or people suffering from cardiovascular disorders or hypertension;
  • In case of allergies, check for the possible presence of allergens (limonene, tree nuts, etc.) indicated on the label;
  • In case of contact with skin, rinse thoroughly with water and soap;
  • Store your e-liquids in a dry place, away from light and temperature variations, out of reach of children and animals.

Think about recycling: empty bottles must be disposed of through the appropriate channels.

FAQ

An e-liquid (or liquid for electronic cigarettes) is the product that generates vapour when heated by the coil of an electronic cigarette. Unlike traditional cigarettes, there is no combustion. The e-liquid is composed of a base (propylene glycol and vegetable glycerine), flavourings, and optionally nicotine. It determines the taste, throat sensation, cloud production, and overall vaping experience.

An e-liquid generally contains four elements:

  • propylene glycol (PG), which carries the flavours, enhances the throat hit, and provides a sensation close to that of a cigarette;
  • vegetable glycerine (VG), responsible for the vapour and cloud density;
  • flavourings, which provide the taste (fruit, mint, classic tobacco, dessert, ice…);
  • nicotine, optional, which helps manage cravings in vapers who are quitting.

Some formulas also use alternative vegetable bases (Végétol) for a smoother experience.

An e-liquid with nicotine is intended for vapers who wish to replace the traditional cigarette. Nicotine acts on the sensation of satisfaction and reduces cravings. Nicotine-free e-liquids are used either at the end of a quit programme or purely for the pleasure of vaping, although it is not recommended to vape if you are not a smoker. Choosing the right nicotine level is essential to avoid a poor experience (irritation or cravings). The nicotine dosage depends on your previous cigarette consumption. A light smoker will not have the same needs as a heavy smoker. A level that is too low can lead to frustration and relapse, while a level that is too high can cause throat discomfort. The goal is to find the right balance between hit, sensation, and vaping comfort, adjusting gradually as needed. A low dosage of 0, 3, or 6 mg/ml of nicotine is generally recommended for light smokers or occasional smokers (fewer than 7 cigarettes per day), and a high dosage of 20 mg/ml of nicotine salt for heavy smokers (1 pack of cigarettes or more). However, this dosage can be adjusted depending on your electronic cigarette and your vaping style.

Nicotine salt is a more stable and smoother form of nicotine to inhale. It provides rapid absorption with a less harsh throat hit, even at high levels. Nicotine salt e-liquids are particularly suited to beginner vapers, former heavy smokers, and low-wattage MTL kits. Various nicotine salt dosages are available. The most well-known and effective is 20 mg/ml, which is well suited to heavy smokers. However, a dosage of 10 mg/ml may be perfectly appropriate for a regular or occasional smoker.

A nicotine booster is a nicotine-concentrated bottle designed to be added to a large-format e-liquid. It allows you to adjust the final nicotine level according to the quantity added. Flexible and cost-effective, this solution lets you boost your large-format e-liquid to 3 or 6 mg/ml of nicotine. For a 50 ml e-liquid, adding one nicotine booster will give you 3 mg/ml, while two nicotine boosters will bring your e-liquid to 6 mg/ml.

The propylene glycol / vegetable glycerine ratio strongly influences the vape.

  • An e-liquid rich in propylene glycol or PG (70/30, 80/20) enhances the hit, the precision of flavours, and a discreet vape. The e-liquid will be thin and compatible only with MTL equipment with a tight draw, to avoid leaks.
  • An e-liquid rich in vegetable glycerine or VG (30/70) produces more vapour and cloud, with a smoother, sweeter sensation. This thicker e-liquid will be compatible with sub-ohm or shisha-type electronic cigarettes, producing large clouds of vapour at high wattage.

The choice therefore depends on the wattage and compatibility with your electronic cigarette. If in doubt, the most common ratio remains 50/50 PG/VG. Balanced, it allows versatile use across MTL, RDL, and light DTL electronic cigarette models (between approximately 15 and 40 watts).

Plant-based or Végétol e-liquids replace traditional propylene glycol. They are often gentler on the throat, better tolerated by vapers who are sensitive to PG, and offer a smoother vape without compromising on flavour. However, they should be used in MTL mode at low power (minimum 30 watts) to avoid the risk of leaks and to preserve the quality of the product.

Yes, CBD e-liquids are designed for vaping and generally do not contain nicotine. They offer a different sensation, focused on relaxation, with no addictive effect. They should be used at moderate power to preserve the quality of the product. We recommend using them with an MTL electronic cigarette with a tight draw.

E-liquids are considered a far healthier alternative to smoked tobacco. They are formulated from ingredients certified as safe for health, unlike the 7,000 harmful substances found in traditional cigarettes. Nevertheless, to choose a safe e-liquid, a few precautions should be taken, such as purchasing your e-liquid from a recognised retailer like Le Vapoteur Discount, or checking the composition and origin by favouring reputable and regulated brands.

An e-liquid manufactured in France meets strict requirements and European directives regarding traceability, control and safety. A guarantee of quality and transparency for the consumer, French and European brands generally have their own laboratory for developing their e-liquid formula and are required to have this formulation studied by an independent laboratory before it goes to market. All these steps ensure that e-liquids are safe for vapers. These French and European quality standards prohibit undesirable substances and provide a more secure framework for vaping.

To keep your e-liquid as long as possible and preserve its quality, taste and colour, it should be kept in its original bottle and ideally away from light, heat and air. Despite these precautions, the e-liquid may take on a slightly brown tint. Safe and suitable for consumption, this colour is due to the oxidation of nicotine and may also depend on the flavouring used in the e-liquid. It is generally advised not to keep the same e-liquid for more than 5 days in your clearomiser or pod cartridge if you are not using it, to avoid leaks and excessive oxidation.

The DLUO (Date Limite d'Utilisation Optimale) or BBD (Best Before Date) is an indicative date. Once the e-liquid's date has passed, it may lose its taste qualities and appearance (colour, fluidity). An e-liquid straight from the factory will have a BBD of around 2 years. Even past its BBD, the e-liquid remains suitable for vaporisation and will not be harmful to health.
