FAQ
The drip tip is the mouthpiece of the electronic cigarette — the part placed in the mouth to inhale the vapour. It plays an important role in vaping comfort, the sensation in the mouth, the temperature of the vapour, and the type of draw (tight or airy). Beyond its practical purpose, it also allows you to personalise the aesthetic of your electronic cigarette.
The main difference lies in the diameter. The 510 drip tip is the most common format: slimmer, it promotes a tighter draw and better flavour concentration, making it ideal for MTL vaping. The 810 drip tip, being wider, is designed for a more airy vape and greater vapour production, often used on DTL clearomisers.
Yes, strongly so. Each material alters the comfort and the perceived temperature:
- Teflon / Delrin: highly heat-resistant, comfortable on the lips, ideal for warm vapour.
- Plastic / resin: neutral contact, lightweight and aesthetically pleasing.
- Metal / stainless steel / aluminium: robust but can heat up more.
- Ceramic or pyrex: excellent thermal resistance and a neutral flavour rendering.
The choice of material therefore depends on your vaping wattage and your personal preferences.
For indirect inhalation (MTL), opt for a slim and fairly long drip tip, which slightly cools the vapour and enhances the flavours. For direct inhalation (DTL), a wider and shorter drip tip will provide a greater airflow and denser vapour. The length, diameter, and shape directly influence the draw and the sensation in the mouth.
The majority of clearomisers accept interchangeable drip tips, particularly in the 510 format. However, some models use proprietary or integrated drip tips, especially on certain pods. It is therefore important to check the compatibility of your clearomiser before changing the mouthpiece.
The drip tip should be cleaned regularly, as it is in direct contact with the mouth. A simple rinse with warm water and a little soap is sufficient, using a cotton bud or a small brush if needed. Regular cleaning improves hygiene, vaping comfort, and prevents the build-up of residue from vapour and saliva.
