Choosing the right 60 ml e-liquid with included boosters, in 70/30 PG/VG

An e-liquid is a consumable intended exclusively for e-cigarettes. The 60 ml format comes as a mix-to-vape pack: a partially filled bottle of nicotine-free e-liquid, supplied with one or two 20 mg/ml nicotine boosters. Once the boosters have been poured into the bottle, you get 60 ml of e-liquid at 3 or 6 mg/ml. Rich in propylene glycol, it is fluid, highly flavoured and delivers a pronounced throat hit, for mouth-to-lung (MTL) vaping similar to the draw of a cigarette.

The nicotine strength is selected when ordering: it depends on the pack and cannot subsequently be changed without adding base or a booster. As PG enhances the throat hit, the 3 mg/ml pack may be sufficient where a 50/50 would require more.

How do you prepare a 60 ml e-liquid?

Open the bottle: remove the dropper nozzle (it usually pops off using your fingernail or the nozzle opener provided).

Add the supplied booster(s): one booster to the 50 ml bottle for 3 mg/ml, two boosters to the 40 ml bottle for 6 mg/ml.

Close and shake: replace the nozzle, screw the cap back on and shake vigorously for around thirty seconds to mix thoroughly.

Leave to rest for a few minutes before filling your tank. Remember to note the resulting strength on the bottle.

Once mixing is complete, the bottle contains 60 ml: there is no room for an additional booster. For a different strength, 50 ml e-liquids and the 10 ml format allow you to adjust the dosage.

The 70/30 PG/VG ratio: flavours and throat hit to the fore

An e-liquid is made up of a propylene glycol (PG) and vegetable glycerine (VG) base, flavourings and, where applicable, nicotine. PG carries the flavours and throat hit, while VG provides smoothness and vapour volume. With 70% PG, this ratio prioritises flavour accuracy and throat sensation, with discreet vapour.

Very fluid, a 70/30 e-liquid quickly saturates tight-draw coils. However, it is not recommended for sub-ohm equipment, where it may leak and produce an overly harsh throat hit.

Recommended settings

The value of the coil and the power determine the type of draw. With a 70/30 60 ml e-liquid, low power is enough to release the flavours:

How to maintain your e-cigarette

Prime every new coil: add a few drops of e-liquid to the cotton, fill the tank, then wait a few minutes before first use.

Check for leaks: being fluid, 70/30 can leak if the coil resistance is too low or the tank is not properly closed. Check the seals every time you refill.

Replace the coil as soon as flavours deteriorate or vapour production decreases (on average every 2 to 3 weeks depending on use), and take the opportunity to thoroughly clean the tank and drip tip.

An e-liquid (or liquid for electronic cigarettes) is the product that generates vapour when heated by the coil of an electronic cigarette. Unlike traditional cigarettes, there is no combustion. The e-liquid is composed of a base (propylene glycol and vegetable glycerin), flavourings, and optionally nicotine. It determines the taste, the throat hit, the cloud production, and the overall vaping experience.

An e-liquid generally contains four elements:
  • propylene glycol (PG), which carries the flavourings, enhances the throat hit and provides a sensation close to that of a cigarette;
  • vegetable glycerin (VG), responsible for the vapour and the density of the cloud;
  • the flavourings, which give the taste (fruit, mint, classic tobacco, gourmet, ice…);
  • nicotine, optional, which helps manage cravings in vapers who are quitting.
Some formulas also use alternative plant-based bases (Végétol) for extra smoothness.

An e-liquid with nicotine is intended for vapers who wish to replace traditional cigarettes. Nicotine acts on the sensation of satisfaction and limits cravings. Nicotine-free e-liquids are used either at the end of a cessation programme, or purely for the pleasure of vaping, although it is not recommended to vape if you are not a smoker. Choosing the right nicotine level is essential to avoid a bad experience (irritation or cravings). The nicotine dosage depends on your previous cigarette consumption. A light smoker will not have the same needs as a heavy smoker. A level that is too low can lead to frustration and relapse, whilst a level that is too high can cause throat discomfort. The aim is to find a balance between hit, sensation and vaping comfort, adjusting gradually as needed. A low dosage of 0, 3 or 6 mg/ml of nicotine is generally recommended for light smokers or occasional smokers (fewer than 7 cigarettes per day), and a high dosage of 20 mg/ml of nicotine salt for heavy smokers (1 packet of cigarettes or more). However, this dosage can be adjusted depending on your e-cigarette and your vaping style.

Nicotine salt is a more stable form of nicotine that is smoother to inhale. It provides rapid absorption, with a less harsh throat hit, even at high strengths. Nicotine salt e-liquids are particularly suited to beginner vapers, former heavy smokers, and low-wattage MTL kits. There are different nicotine salt strengths. The most well-known and effective being 20 mg/ml, which is very suitable for heavy smokers. However, a strength of 10 mg/ml may be perfectly adequate for a regular or occasional smoker.

A nicotine booster is a concentrated nicotine bottle, designed to be added to a large-format e-liquid. It allows you to adjust the final nicotine level depending on the quantity added. Flexible and economical, this solution allows you to boost your large-format e-liquid to 3 or 6 mg/ml of nicotine. For a 50 ml e-liquid, adding one nicotine booster will give you 3 mg/ml, while two nicotine boosters will transform your e-liquid into 6 mg/ml.

The propylene glycol / vegetable glycerin ratio strongly influences the vape.
  • An e-liquid high in propylene glycol or PG (70/30, 80/20) enhances the throat hit, flavour accuracy, and a discreet vape. The e-liquid will be thin and compatible only with MTL devices with a tight draw to avoid leaks.
  • An e-liquid high in vegetable glycerin or VG (30/70) produces more vapour and clouds, with a smoother, sweeter sensation. This thicker e-liquid will be compatible with sub-ohm or hookah-style e-cigarettes, producing large vapour clouds at high wattage.
The choice therefore depends on the power and compatibility with your e-cigarette. If in doubt, the most common ratio remains 50/50 PG/VG. Balanced, it allows versatile use on MTL, RDL, and light DTL e-cigarette models (between approximately 15 and 40 watts).

E-liquids with a vegetable base or with Végétol replace traditional propylene glycol. They are often gentler on the throat, better tolerated by certain vapers who are sensitive to PG, and offer a smoother vape without compromising on flavour. However, they should be used in MTL with a low wattage (minimum 30 watts) to avoid the risk of leaks and preserve the quality of the product.

Safe and suitable for consumption, this colour is due to the oxidation of nicotine and may also depend on the flavouring used in the e-liquid. It is generally recommended not to keep the same e-liquid for more than 5 days in your clearomiser or pod cartridge if you are not using it, to avoid leaks and excessive oxidation.

The DLUO (Date Limite d'Utilisation Optimale) or BBD (Best Before Date) is an indicative date. Once the e-liquid's date has passed, it may lose its taste qualities and appearance (colour, fluidity). An e-liquid straight from the factory will have a BBD of approximately 2 years. Even past its BBD, the e-liquid remains suitable for vaping and will not be harmful to health.
