Essential to every electronic cigarette, e-liquid is the heart of your vaping experience. The 10 ml format is currently the only one authorised to contain nicotine under European regulations. Compact, practical and easy to carry, it allows you to try a flavour, adjust your nicotine level or vape daily with complete ease.
It is also the ideal format to support a tobacco reduction or cessation journey, at your own pace.
The right nicotine level depends above all on your smoker profile and your habits. The aim is to satisfy the craving without discomfort, whilst keeping vaping enjoyable.
Light smoker (fewer than 5 cigarettes per day)
0 to 6 mg/ml
A gentle dosage, sufficient to curb the urge to smoke whilst offering a light throat sensation.
Moderate smoker (5 to 15 cigarettes per day)
6 to 12 mg/ml
An ideal balance to recapture a sensation close to that of a traditional cigarette, without frustration.
Heavy smoker (more than 15 cigarettes per day)
12 to 18 mg/ml
A higher level, designed to meet a significant nicotine need, particularly at the start of a cessation attempt.
Heavy smoker (more than 20 cigarettes per day)
18 to 20 mg/ml
The maximum permitted dosage, often associated with nicotine salts, for faster absorption and a smoother sensation.
These indications remain guidelines: every vaper is different. Your personal experience, the throat hit and the equipment used may lead you to adjust your dosage.
The 50/50 PG/VG ratio is one of the most versatile on the market. It offers an excellent compromise between flavour delivery, moderate throat hit and reasonable vapour production. It is a reassuring choice, both for beginner vapers and for those looking for a simple and effective everyday vape.
Thanks to its balanced viscosity, a 50/50 e-liquid is compatible with the majority of versatile electronic cigarettes, including:
This ratio also works very well with modern pods, appreciated for their simplicity and discretion:
For a stable and hassle-free vape, opt for versatile clearomisers capable of handling different inhalation styles:
The coil resistance should ideally be between 0.4 ohm and 1.2 ohm, for a versatile, economical, and enjoyable vape.
A drip tip standard 510 is generally recommended. Some vapers also use this ratio with more airy 810 drip tips without experiencing any leaks, depending on the equipment used.
A 50/50 PG/VG e-liquid adapts to a wide power range, generally between 10 and 40 watts, depending on the installed coil and the type of draw desired.
Regular maintenance is essential to ensure a healthy, flavourful and long-lasting vape:
Think about recycling: empty bottles must be disposed of in the appropriate waste streams.

An e-liquid (or liquid for e-cigarettes) is the product that generates vapour when heated by the coil of an e-cigarette. Unlike traditional cigarettes, there is no combustion. The e-liquid is composed of a base (propylene glycol and vegetable glycerin), flavourings, and optionally nicotine. It is what determines the taste, the throat sensation, the cloud production, and the overall vaping experience.
An e-liquid generally contains four ingredients:
Some formulas also use alternative plant-based bases (Végétol) for a smoother experience.
An e-liquid with nicotine is intended for vapers who wish to replace traditional cigarettes. Nicotine acts on the sensation of satisfaction and limits cravings. E-liquids without nicotine are used either at the end of a quitting process, or purely for the pleasure of vaping, even though vaping is not recommended if you are not a smoker. The choice of nicotine level is essential to avoid a poor experience (irritation or cravings). The nicotine dosage depends on your previous cigarette consumption. A light smoker will not have the same needs as a heavy smoker. A level that is too low can lead to frustration and relapse, while a level that is too high can cause throat discomfort. The aim is to find a balance between hit, sensation and vaping comfort, adjusting progressively as needed. A low dosage of 0, 3 or 6 mg/ml of nicotine is generally recommended for light or occasional smokers (fewer than 7 cigarettes per day), and a high dosage of 20 mg/ml nicotine salt for heavy smokers (one pack of cigarettes or more). However, this dosage can be adjusted according to your e-cigarette and your vaping style.
Nicotine salt is a more stable form of nicotine that is smoother to inhale. It provides rapid absorption with a less harsh throat hit, even at high strengths. Nicotine salt e-liquids are particularly well suited to beginner vapers, former heavy smokers, and low-powered MTL kits. Nicotine salts come in various strengths. The most well-known and effective is 20 mg/ml, which is highly suitable for heavy smokers. However, a 10 mg/ml strength can work very well for a regular or occasional smoker.
A nicotine shot is a concentrated nicotine bottle designed to be added to a large-format e-liquid. It allows you to adjust the final nicotine strength depending on the quantity added. Flexible and cost-effective, this solution lets you boost your large-format e-liquid to 3 or 6 mg/ml of nicotine. For a 50 ml e-liquid, adding one nicotine shot will give you 3 mg/ml; adding two nicotine shots will bring your e-liquid to 6 mg/ml.
The propylene glycol / vegetable glycerin ratio strongly influences the vaping experience.
The choice therefore depends on the power and compatibility with your e-cigarette. If in doubt, the most common ratio remains the 50/50 PG/VG. Balanced, it allows versatile use on MTL, RDL and light DTL e-cigarette models (between approximately 15 and 40 watts).
Plant-based or Végétol e-liquids replace traditional propylene glycol. They are often gentler on the throat, better tolerated by vapers who are sensitive to PG, and offer a smoother vape without compromising on flavour. However, they should be used in MTL mode at low power (minimum 30 watts) to avoid the risk of leaks and to preserve the quality of the product.
Yes, CBD e-liquids are designed for vaping and generally contain no nicotine. They offer a different sensation, focused on relaxation, with no addictive effect. They should be used at moderate power to preserve the quality of the product. We recommend using them with an MTL e-cigarette with a tight draw.
E-liquids are considered a much healthier alternative to smoked tobacco. They are formulated from ingredients certified as safe for health, unlike the 7,000 harmful substances found in traditional cigarettes. Nevertheless, to choose a safe e-liquid, a few precautions should be taken, such as buying your e-liquid from a recognised retailer like Le Vapoteur Discount, or checking the composition and origin by favouring reputable and regulated brands.
An e-liquid manufactured in France meets strict requirements and European directives in terms of traceability, control and safety. A mark of quality and transparency for the consumer, French and European brands generally have their own laboratory for developing their e-liquid formula and are required to have that formulation assessed by an independent laboratory before it goes to market. All these steps guarantee e-liquids that are safe for vapers. These French and European quality standards prohibit undesirable substances and provide a more secure framework for vaping.
To keep your e-liquid for as long as possible and preserve its quality, taste, and colour, store it in its original bottle, ideally away from light, heat, and air. Despite these precautions, the e-liquid may develop a slightly brown tint. This is harmless and safe to vape — the colour is caused by the oxidation of nicotine and can also depend on the flavouring used in the e-liquid. It is generally recommended not to leave the same e-liquid in your clearomiser or pod cartridge for more than 5 days if you are not using it, to avoid leaks and excessive oxidation.
The BBD (Best Before Date) or MHD (Minimum Durability Date) is an indicative date. Once the e-liquid's date has passed, it may lose its flavour qualities and appearance (colour, fluidity). A factory-fresh e-liquid will have a BBD of approximately 2 years. Even past the BBD, the e-liquid remains fit for vaporisation and will not be harmful to health.
