How to choose your 50 ml ready-to-boost e-liquid

An e-liquid is a consumable intended exclusively for electronic cigarettes. The 50 ml format is sold nicotine-free, in a bottle designed to hold up to two boosters. It can be vaped as it is at 0 mg/ml or topped up with one or two nicotine boosters to obtain approximately 3 or 6 mg/ml. This large format is suitable for vapers who have found their everyday flavour.

Nicotine-free or boosted: which strength should you choose?

Adding a booster is optional: 50 ml e-liquid can be vaped perfectly well without nicotine. If you want nicotine, the number of boosters added determines the final strength:

Boosters added (10 ml at 20 mg/ml) Final volume Strength obtained Profile
None 50 ml 0 mg/ml Nicotine-free vaping, flavour enjoyment
1 booster 60 ml ≈ 3 mg/ml Occasional smoker
2 boosters 70 ml ≈ 6 mg/ml Moderate smoker

The resulting strengths are rounded (exactly 3.3 and 5.7 mg/ml). For nicotine needs above 6 mg/ml, the 10 ml format or nicotine salts are more suitable.

How do you boost a 50 ml e-liquid?

1
Open the bottle: remove the dropper nozzle from the 50 ml bottle (it usually pops off using a fingernail or the supplied nozzle remover).
2
Pour in the booster(s): add one booster to obtain approximately 3 mg/ml, or two boosters for approximately 6 mg/ml.
3
Close and shake: replace the nozzle, screw the cap back on and shake vigorously for around thirty seconds to homogenise the mixture.
4
Leave to rest for a few minutes before filling your tank. Remember to note the resulting strength on the bottle.

For a higher strength or a customised recipe, use a larger empty bottle, available in the DIY accessories.

Which nicotine shot should you choose?

Le Vapoteur Discount boosters come in 10 ml bottles (strength indicated on each product page). The nicotine type and base alter the throat sensation:

Booster Sensation Who is it for?
50/50 nicotine booster Classic throat hit, neutral flavour The standard choice, suitable for all 50/50 e-liquids
70/30 nicotine booster More pronounced throat hit, enhanced flavours MTL vaping, for those seeking a sensation close to smoking
Cool 50/50 nicotine booster Classic throat hit with a touch of freshness Fans of fresh fruity or menthol flavours
Nicotine salt booster Very smooth throat hit Vapers sensitive to throat hit or seeking a smoother experience
Cool nicotine salt booster Smooth and cool throat hit The smoothness of nicotine salts with a fresh note
Hybrid nicotine booster Balance between throat hit and smoothness A compromise between regular nicotine and nicotine salts

The 50/50 PG/VG ratio: a versatile balance

An e-liquid is made up of a propylene glycol (PG) and vegetable glycerine (VG) base, flavourings and, where applicable, nicotine. PG carries the flavours and throat hit, while VG adds smoothness and vapour volume. In equal proportions, the 50/50 ratio combines these two properties.

Suitable equipment Pods, MTL Pods, kits, MTL and RDL clearomisers Box mods, sub-ohm (DL)

Thanks to its fluidity, a 50/50 e-liquid properly saturates the coils of most clearomisers and pods, without being too thin for tight-draw models.

Which equipment for a 50/50 e-liquid?

50/50 is compatible with the vast majority of e-cigarettes. Here are the most suitable equipment categories and a few examples available from Le Vapoteur Discount:

Equipment Key points Examples
E-cigarettes Complete kits (battery + clearomiser), with simple or adjustable settings depending on the model. Kit Q16 Pro – Justfog
Kit PockeX Pocket AIO – Aspire
Kit Coolfire Z80 Zenith 2 – Innokin
Pods Compact format, refillable pods, use without complex settings. Kit Luxe XR Max 2 – Vaporesso
Kit Kiwi 2 – Kiwi Vapor
Kit Pixo Max – Aspire
Clearomisers Choose MTL or RDL models compatible with coils from 0.4 to 1.2 Ω. Zenith 2 – Innokin
Q16 Pro Plus – Justfog
GOZ+ – Innokin
Z Nano 3 – GeekVape

Recommended settings

The value of the coil and the power determine the type of draw. With a 50 ml 50/50 e-liquid, vaped at 0, 3 or 6 mg/ml, the following guidelines provide stable vaping:

Coil Type of draw Recommended power
1.0 to 1.2 Ω MTL – tight draw, similar to a cigarette 10 to 18 W
0.6 to 0.9 Ω MTL to RDL – intermediate draw 15 to 25 W
0.4 to 0.5 Ω RDL – semi-airy draw 25 to 40 W

Always start at the lower end of the power range indicated on the coil, then increase gradually. For the drip tip, a 510 mouthpiece is suitable for most uses; an 810 drip tip can be used for RDL vaping on clearomisers designed for this format.

How to maintain your e-cigarette

1
Prime every new coil: add a few drops of e-liquid to the cotton, fill the tank and wait 5 to 10 minutes before first use.
2
Clean regularly the clearomiser or pod and the drip tip to prevent residue build-up.
3
Replace the coil as soon as flavours deteriorate or vapour production decreases (on average every 1 to 3 weeks depending on use), and take the opportunity to clean the tank thoroughly.
4
Close the bottle tightly after each refill and store it upright: a large format lasts several weeks.

Usage and storage precautions

  • If you do not smoke, do not vape.
  • Product prohibited for minors. E-liquid sold without nicotine: once a booster is added, it contains nicotine and is not recommended for pregnant or breastfeeding women or people with cardiovascular disorders or high blood pressure.
  • Handle nicotine boosters with care; in case of skin contact, rinse thoroughly with soap and water.
  • In case of allergy, check for the possible presence of allergens (limonene, linalool, etc.) listed on the label.
  • Keep your e-liquids closed, in a dry place, away from light and temperature fluctuations, out of reach of children and animals.

Remember to recycle: empty bottles should be taken to suitable collection points.

FAQ

An e-liquid (or electronic cigarette liquid) is the product that generates vapour when heated by the coil of an electronic cigarette. Unlike traditional cigarettes, there is no combustion. The e-liquid is made up of a base (propylene glycol and vegetable glycerine), flavourings, and optionally nicotine. It determines the taste, throat sensation, cloud production, and the overall vaping experience.

An e-liquid generally contains four elements:

  • propylene glycol (PG), which carries the flavours, enhances the throat hit and provides a sensation close to that of a cigarette;
  • vegetable glycerin (VG), responsible for the vapour and cloud density;
  • flavourings, which provide the taste (fruit, mint, classic blonde, dessert, ice…);
  • nicotine, optional, which helps manage cravings for vapers who are quitting smoking.

Some formulas also use alternative vegetable bases (Végétol) for extra smoothness.

An e-liquid with nicotine is intended for vapers who wish to replace traditional cigarettes. Nicotine acts on the feeling of satisfaction and helps reduce cravings. E-liquids without nicotine are used either at the end of a quitting process, or purely for the pleasure of vaping, although it is not recommended to vape if you are not a smoker. Choosing the right nicotine level is essential to avoid a poor experience (irritation or cravings). The nicotine dosage depends on your previous cigarette consumption. A light smoker will not have the same needs as a heavy smoker. A level that is too low can lead to frustration and relapse, while a level that is too high can cause throat discomfort. The aim is to find a balance between hit, sensation, and vaping comfort, adjusting gradually as needed. As a general rule, a low dosage of 0, 3, or 6 mg/ml of nicotine is recommended for light smokers or occasional smokers (fewer than 7 cigarettes per day), and a high dosage of 20 mg/ml of nicotine salt for heavy smokers (one pack of cigarettes or more). However, this dosage can be adjusted depending on your electronic cigarette and the way you vape.

Nicotine salt is a more stable and smoother form of nicotine to inhale. It provides rapid absorption, with a less harsh throat hit, even at high levels. Nicotine salt e-liquids are particularly suited to beginner vapers, former heavy smokers, and low-power MTL kits. Various nicotine salt dosages are available. The best known and most effective is 20 mg/ml, which is very well suited to heavy smokers. However, a dosage of 10 mg/ml may be perfectly suitable for a regular or occasional smoker.

A nicotine booster is a nicotine-concentrated bottle, designed to be added to a large-format e-liquid. It allows you to adjust the final nicotine level according to the quantity added. Flexible and economical, this solution allows you to boost your large-format e-liquid to 3 or 6 mg/ml of nicotine. For a 50 ml e-liquid, adding one nicotine booster will result in 3 mg/ml, whilst two nicotine boosters will bring your e-liquid to 6 mg/ml.

The propylene glycol / vegetable glycerin ratio strongly influences the vape.

  • An e-liquid rich in propylene glycol or PG (70/30, 80/20) enhances the throat hit, flavour precision and a discreet vape. The e-liquid will be fluid and compatible only with MTL equipment with a tight draw to avoid leaks.
  • An e-liquid rich in vegetable glycerin or VG (30/70) produces more vapour and cloud, with a smoother, sweeter sensation. This thicker e-liquid will be compatible with sub-ohm or shisha-type e-cigarettes, producing large clouds of vapour at high power.

The choice therefore depends on the power and compatibility with your e-cigarette. If in doubt, the most common ratio remains 50/50 PG/VG. Balanced, it allows versatile use on MTL, RDL and light DTL e-cigarette models (between approximately 15 and 40 watts).

E-liquids with a vegetable base or containing Végétol replace traditional propylene glycol. They are often gentler on the throat, better tolerated by vapers who are sensitive to PG, and provide a smoother vape without compromising on flavour. However, they should be used in MTL with a low wattage (minimum 30 watts) to avoid the risk of leaking and to preserve the quality of the product.

Yes, CBD e-liquids are designed for vaping and generally do not contain nicotine. They offer a different sensation, focused on relaxation, with no addictive effect. They should be used at a moderate wattage to preserve the quality of the product. A tight-draw MTL electronic cigarette is recommended for use with them.

E-liquids are considered a much healthier alternative to smoked tobacco. They are formulated from ingredients certified as safe for health, unlike the 7,000 harmful substances found in traditional cigarettes. Nevertheless, to choose a safe e-liquid, a few precautions should be taken, such as purchasing your e-liquid from a recognised retailer like Le Vapoteur Discount, or checking the composition and origin by favouring reputable and regulated brands.

An e-liquid manufactured in France meets strict requirements and European directives regarding traceability, control and safety. A guarantee of quality and transparency for the consumer, French and European brands generally have their own laboratory for developing their e-liquid formula and are required to have this formulation assessed by an independent laboratory before going to market. All these steps ensure e-liquids that are safe for vapers. These French and European quality standards prohibit undesirable substances and provide a more secure framework for vaping.

To keep your e-liquid as long as possible and preserve its quality, taste and colour, it should be stored in its original bottle and ideally away from light, heat and air. Despite these precautions, it can happen that the e-liquid takes on a slightly brown tint. Safe and fit for consumption, this colour is due to the oxidation of nicotine and may also depend on the flavouring used in the e-liquid. It is generally recommended not to keep the same e-liquid for more than 5 days in your clearomiser or pod cartridge if you are not using it, to avoid leaks and excessive oxidation.

The DLUO (Best Before Date) or BBD (Best Before Date) is an indicative date. Once the e-liquid's date has passed, it may lose its taste qualities and appearance (colour, fluidity). An e-liquid fresh from the factory will have a BBD of approximately 2 years. Even past the BBD, the e-liquid remains fit for vaporisation and will not be harmful to health.
