How to choose your 50 ml ready-to-boost e-liquid

An e-liquid is a consumable intended exclusively for an electronic cigarette. The 50 ml format is sold nicotine-free, in a bottle designed to hold up to two boosters. It can be vaped as is at 0 mg/ml or topped up with one or two nicotine boosters to obtain approximately 3 or 6 mg/ml. This large format is ideal for vapers who have found their everyday flavour.

Nicotine-free or boosted: which strength should you choose?

Adding a booster is optional: 50 ml e-liquid can be vaped perfectly without nicotine. If you want nicotine, the number of boosters added determines the final strength:

Boosters added (10 ml at 20 mg/ml)Final volumeStrength obtainedProfile
None50 ml0 mg/mlNicotine-free vaping, full flavour enjoyment
1 booster60 ml≈ 3 mg/mlOccasional smoker
2 boosters70 ml≈ 6 mg/mlModerate smoker

The resulting strengths are rounded (exactly 3.3 and 5.7 mg/ml). For nicotine requirements above 6 mg/ml, the 10 ml format or nicotine salts are more suitable.

How do you boost a 50 ml e-liquid?

1
Open the bottle: remove the dropper tip from the 50 ml bottle (it can usually be prised off with a fingernail or the tip remover supplied).
2
Add the nicotine shot(s): add one nicotine shot for around 3 mg/ml, or two nicotine shots for around 6 mg/ml.
3
Close and shake: replace the tip, screw the cap back on and shake vigorously for around thirty seconds to blend the mixture evenly.
4
Leave to rest for a few minutes before filling your tank. Remember to note the resulting strength on the bottle.

For a higher strength or a personalised recipe, use a larger empty bottle, available in the DIY accessories section.

Which nicotine shot should you choose?

Le Vapoteur Discount boosters come in 10 ml bottles (strength indicated on each product page). The nicotine type and base alter the throat sensation:

The 50/50 PG/VG ratio: a versatile balance

An e-liquid is made up of a base of propylene glycol (PG) and vegetable glycerine (VG), flavourings and, where applicable, nicotine. PG carries flavours and throat hit, while VG provides smoothness and vapour volume. In equal parts, the 50/50 ratio combines these two properties.

Suitable equipment Pods, MTL Pods, kits, MTL and RDL clearomisers Mods, sub-ohm (DL)

Thanks to its fluidity, a 50/50 e-liquid properly saturates the coils of most clearomisers and cartridges, without being too thin for tight-draw models.

Which equipment for a 50/50 e-liquid?

50/50 is compatible with the vast majority of e-cigarettes. Here are the most suitable equipment categories and a few examples available from Le Vapoteur Discount:

Equipment Key points Examples

Recommended settings

The resistance value and power determine the draw type. With a 50 ml 50/50 e-liquid, vaped at 0, 3 or 6 mg/ml, the following guidelines provide stable vaping:

CoilDraw typeSuggested power
1.0 to 1.2 ΩMTL – tight draw, close to a cigarette10 to 18 W
0.6 to 0.9 ΩMTL to RDL – intermediate draw15 to 25 W
0.4 to 0.5 ΩRDL – semi-airy draw25 to 40 W

Always start at the lower end of the power range indicated on the coil, then increase gradually. As for the drip tip, a 510 mouthpiece is suitable for most uses; an 810 drip tip can be used for RDL vaping on clearomisers designed for this format.

How to maintain your e-cigarette

1
Prime every new coil: apply a few drops of e-liquid to the cotton, fill the tank, then wait 5 to 10 minutes before first use.
2
Clean regularly the clearomiser or pod and the drip tip to prevent residue build-up.
3
Replace the coil as soon as flavours deteriorate or vapour production decreases (on average every 1 to 3 weeks depending on use), and take the opportunity to clean the tank thoroughly.
4
Close the bottle tightly after each refill and store it upright: a large format lasts several weeks.

Usage and storage precautions

  • If you do not smoke, do not vape.
  • Product prohibited for minors. E-liquid sold without nicotine: once a booster has been added, it contains nicotine and is not recommended for pregnant or breastfeeding women or people suffering from cardiovascular disorders or high blood pressure.
  • Handle nicotine boosters with care; in case of contact with skin, rinse thoroughly with soap and water.
  • In case of allergy, check for any allergens (limonene, linalool, etc.) listed on the label.
  • Keep your e-liquids closed, in a dry place, away from light and temperature fluctuations, out of reach of children and animals.

Remember to recycle: empty bottles should be taken to suitable collection points.

FAQ

An e-liquid (or liquid for electronic cigarettes) is the product that generates vapour when heated by the coil of an electronic cigarette. Unlike traditional cigarettes, there is no combustion. The e-liquid is made up of a base (propylene glycol and vegetable glycerine), flavourings, and optionally nicotine. It determines the taste, throat sensation, cloud production, and overall vaping experience.

An e-liquid generally contains four elements:

  • propylene glycol (PG), which carries the flavours, enhances the throat hit, and provides a sensation close to that of a cigarette;
  • vegetable glycerine (VG), responsible for the vapour and cloud density;
  • flavourings, which provide the taste (fruit, mint, classic tobacco, dessert, ice…);
  • nicotine, optional, which helps manage cravings for vapers who are quitting smoking.

Some formulas also use alternative vegetable bases (Végétol) for extra smoothness.

An e-liquid with nicotine is intended for vapers who wish to replace traditional cigarettes. Nicotine acts on the feeling of satisfaction and helps manage cravings. Nicotine-free e-liquids are used either at the end of a quitting process or purely for the pleasure of vaping, although it is not recommended to vape if you are not a smoker. Choosing the right nicotine level is essential to avoid a poor experience (irritation or cravings). The nicotine dosage depends on your previous cigarette consumption. A light smoker will not have the same needs as a heavy smoker. A level that is too low can lead to frustration and relapse, while a level that is too high can cause throat discomfort. The goal is to find a balance between hit, sensation, and vaping comfort, adjusting gradually as needed. A low dosage of 0, 3, or 6 mg/ml of nicotine is generally recommended for light smokers or occasional smokers (fewer than 7 cigarettes per day), and a high dosage of 20 mg/ml of nicotine salt for heavy smokers (1 packet of cigarettes or more). However, this dosage can be adjusted depending on your electronic cigarette and the way you vape.

Nicotine salt is a more stable and smoother form of nicotine to inhale. It provides rapid absorption, with a less harsh throat hit, even at high strengths. Nicotine salt e-liquids are particularly suited to beginner vapers, former heavy smokers, and low-powered MTL kits. Nicotine salts come in various strengths. The most well-known and effective is 20 mg/ml, which is very suitable for heavy smokers. However, a 10 mg/ml strength can work very well for a regular or occasional smoker.

A nicotine booster is a nicotine-concentrated bottle designed to be added to a large-format e-liquid. It allows you to adjust the final nicotine level depending on the quantity added. Flexible and cost-effective, this solution lets you boost your large-format e-liquid to 3 or 6 mg/ml of nicotine. For a 50 ml e-liquid, adding one nicotine booster will give you 3 mg/ml, while two nicotine boosters will turn your e-liquid into a 6 mg/ml.

The propylene glycol / vegetable glycerine ratio strongly influences the vape.

  • An e-liquid rich in propylene glycol or PG (70/30, 80/20) enhances the throat hit, flavour precision, and a discreet vape. The e-liquid will be thin and compatible exclusively with MTL devices with a tight draw to avoid leaks.
  • An e-liquid rich in vegetable glycerine or VG (30/70) produces more vapour and cloud, with a softer, sweeter sensation. This thicker e-liquid will be compatible with sub-ohm or shisha-type electronic cigarettes, producing large clouds of vapour at high wattage.

The choice therefore depends on the wattage and compatibility with your electronic cigarette. If in doubt, the most common ratio remains 50/50 PG/VG. Balanced, it allows versatile use across MTL, RDL, and light DTL electronic cigarette models (between approximately 15 and 40 watts).

E-liquids with a vegetable base or containing Végétol replace traditional propylene glycol. They are often gentler on the throat, better tolerated by vapers who are sensitive to PG, and provide a smoother vaping experience without compromising on flavour. However, they should be used in MTL mode at a low wattage (minimum 30 watts) to avoid the risk of leaks and to preserve product quality.

Yes, CBD e-liquids are designed for vaping and generally do not contain nicotine. They offer a different sensation, focused on relaxation, with no addictive effect. They should be used at moderate wattage to preserve product quality. We recommend using them with an MTL electronic cigarette with a tight draw.

E-liquids are considered a far healthier alternative to smoked tobacco. They are formulated from ingredients certified as safe for health, unlike the 7,000 harmful substances found in traditional cigarettes. Nevertheless, a few precautions should be taken when choosing a safe e-liquid, such as purchasing from a recognised retailer like Le Vapoteur Discount, or checking the composition and origin by favouring reputable and regulated brands.

An e-liquid manufactured in France complies with strict requirements and European directives regarding traceability, control, and safety. As a guarantee of quality and transparency for the consumer, French and European brands generally have their own laboratory for developing their e-liquid formula and are required to have that formulation assessed by an independent laboratory before it is placed on the market. All these steps ensure that e-liquids are safe for vapers. These French and European quality standards prohibit undesirable substances and provide a more secure framework for vaping.

To keep your e-liquid as long as possible and preserve its quality, taste, and colour, you should store it in its original bottle, ideally away from light, heat, and air. Despite these precautions, the e-liquid may sometimes take on a slightly brown tint. Safe and fit for consumption, this colour is caused by the oxidation of nicotine and may also depend on the flavouring used in the e-liquid. It is generally recommended not to keep the same e-liquid in your clearomiser or pod cartridge for more than 5 days if you are not using it, to avoid leaks and excessive oxidation.

The DLUO (Best Before Date) or DDM (Minimum Durability Date) is an indicative date. Once the e-liquid's date has passed, it may lose its taste qualities and appearance (colour, fluidity). An e-liquid fresh from the factory will have a DDM of approximately 2 years. Even past its DDM, the e-liquid remains fit for vaporisation and will not be harmful to health.
