Le Vapoteur Discount guide to choosing your 10 ml e-liquid

Essential to any e-cigarette, e-liquid is the heart of your vaping experience. The 10 ml format is currently the only one authorized to contain nicotine under European regulations. Compact, practical and easy to carry, it allows you to try a flavor, adjust your nicotine level or vape daily with ease.
It is also the ideal format to support a tobacco reduction or cessation journey, at your own pace.

What nicotine level should you choose for your e-liquid?

The right nicotine level depends above all on your smoker profile and your habits. The goal is to satisfy the craving without discomfort, while maintaining an enjoyable vape.

  • Light smoker (fewer than 5 cigarettes per day)
    0 to 6 mg/ml
    A mild dosage, sufficient to curb the urge to smoke while providing a light throat sensation.

  • Moderate smoker (5 to 15 cigarettes per day)
    6 to 12 mg/ml
    An ideal balance to recreate a sensation close to a traditional cigarette, without frustration.

  • Heavy smoker (more than 15 cigarettes per day)
    12 to 18 mg/ml
    A higher level, designed to meet a significant nicotine need, especially at the beginning of cessation.

  • Heavy smoker (more than 20 cigarettes per day)
    18 to 20 mg/ml
    The maximum authorized dosage, often associated with nicotine salts, for faster absorption and a smoother sensation.

These indications remain guidelines: every vaper is unique. Your own experience, the throat hit and the equipment used may lead you to adjust your dosage.

Choosing equipment for a balanced PG/VG (50/50) e-liquid

The 50/50 PG/VG ratio is one of the most versatile on the market. It offers an excellent compromise between flavor rendering, moderate throat hit and reasonable vapor production. It is a reassuring choice, both for beginner vapers and for those looking for a simple and effective everyday vape.

E-cigarette

Thanks to its balanced viscosity, a 50/50 e-liquid is compatible with the majority of versatile e-cigarettes, including:

Pods

This ratio also works very well with modern pods, appreciated for their simplicity and discretion:

Clearomizers

For a stable and hassle-free vape, opt for versatile clearomizers capable of handling different inhalation styles:

Coils

The coil resistance should ideally be between 0.4 ohm and 1.2 ohm, for an adaptable, economical and enjoyable vape.

Drip tip

A drip tip standard 510 is generally recommended. Some vapers also use this ratio with more airy 810 drip tips, without noticing any leaks, depending on the equipment used.

Power setting

A 50/50 PG/VG e-liquid adapts to a wide power range, generally between 10 and 40 watts, depending on the installed coil and the type of draw desired.

Properly maintaining your e-cigarette

Regular maintenance is essential to ensure a healthy, flavorful and long-lasting vape:

  • Regularly clean the clearomizer and the drip tip to avoid the build-up of residue;
  • Replace the coil as soon as flavors deteriorate or vapor decreases (on average every 2 to 3 weeks) and take the opportunity to thoroughly clean your clearomizer;
  • Avoid leaving a tank filled with the same e-liquid for more than 5 days without use, in order to limit the risk of leaks or flavor alteration.

Usage precautions

  • If you do not smoke, do not vape;
  • Product containing nicotine: prohibited for minors, not recommended for pregnant women and people with cardiovascular disorders or hypertension;
  • In case of allergies, check for the possible presence of allergens (limonene, tree nuts, etc.) indicated on the label;
  • In case of contact with skin, rinse thoroughly with water and soap;
  • Store your e-liquids in a dry place, away from light and temperature fluctuations, out of reach of children and animals.

Think about recycling: empty bottles must be disposed of through the appropriate channels.

FAQ

An e-liquid (or electronic cigarette liquid) is the product that generates vapour when heated by the coil of an electronic cigarette. Unlike traditional cigarettes, there is no combustion. The e-liquid is composed of a base (propylene glycol and vegetable glycerine), flavourings, and optionally nicotine. It determines the taste, throat hit, cloud production, and overall vaping experience.

An e-liquid generally contains four elements:
  • propylene glycol (PG), which carries the flavours, enhances the throat hit and provides a sensation close to that of a cigarette ;
  • vegetable glycerin (VG), responsible for the vapour and the density of the cloud ;
  • flavourings, which give the taste (fruit, mint, classic blonde, indulgent, ice…) ;
  • nicotine, optional, which helps manage cravings for vapers who are quitting.
Some formulas also use alternative plant-based bases (Végétol) for extra smoothness.

An e-liquid with nicotine is intended for vapers who wish to replace traditional cigarettes. Nicotine acts on the feeling of satisfaction and reduces cravings. E-liquids without nicotine are used either at the end of a quitting process, or purely for the pleasure of vaping, although it is not recommended to vape if you are not a smoker. Choosing the right nicotine level is essential to avoid a bad experience (irritation or cravings). The nicotine dosage depends on your previous cigarette consumption. A light smoker will not have the same needs as a heavy smoker. A level that is too low can lead to frustration and relapse, while a level that is too high can cause throat discomfort. The aim is to find a balance between throat hit, sensation, and vaping comfort, adjusting gradually as needed. A low dosage of 0, 3 or 6 mg/ml of nicotine is generally recommended for light smokers or occasional smokers (fewer than 7 cigarettes per day), and a high dosage of 20 mg/ml of nicotine salts for heavy smokers (1 packet of cigarettes or more). However, this dosage can be adjusted depending on your electronic cigarette and your vaping style.

Nicotine salt is a more stable form of nicotine that is gentler on inhalation. It provides rapid absorption, with a less harsh throat hit, even at high strengths. Nicotine salt e-liquids are particularly suited to beginner vapers, former heavy smokers, and low-powered MTL kits. There are different nicotine salt dosages. The best known and most effective being 20 mg/ml, which is well suited to heavy smokers. However, a 10 mg/ml dosage can work very well for a regular or occasional smoker.

A nicotine booster is a nicotine-concentrated bottle designed to be added to a large-format e-liquid. It allows you to adjust the final nicotine level depending on the quantity added. Flexible and cost-effective, this solution lets you boost your large-format e-liquid to 3 or 6 mg/ml of nicotine. For a 50 ml e-liquid, adding one nicotine booster will give you 3 mg/ml, while two nicotine boosters will transform your e-liquid into 6 mg/ml.

The propylene glycol / vegetable glycerin ratio strongly influences the vape.
  • An e-liquid rich in propylene glycol or PG (70/30, 80/20) enhances the throat hit, flavour accuracy and a discreet vape. The e-liquid will be fluid and compatible only with MTL equipment with a tight draw to avoid leaks.
  • An e-liquid rich in vegetable glycerin or VG (30/70) produces more vapour and clouds, with a smoother, sweeter sensation. This thicker e-liquid will be compatible with sub-ohm or shisha-type electronic cigarettes, producing large clouds of vapour at high wattage.
The choice therefore depends on the power and compatibility with your electronic cigarette. If in doubt, the most common ratio remains 50/50 PG/VG. Balanced, it allows versatile use on MTL, RDL and light DTL electronic cigarette models (between approximately 15 and 40 watts).

E-liquids with a vegetable base or with Végétol replace traditional propylene glycol. They are often gentler on the throat, better tolerated by some vapers sensitive to PG, and offer a smoother vape without compromising on flavour. However, they should be used in MTL with a low wattage (30 watts minimum) to avoid the risk of leaks and preserve the quality of the product.

Yes, CBD e-liquids are designed for vaping and generally do not contain nicotine. They offer a different sensation, focused on relaxation, without any addictive effect. They should be used at moderate wattage to preserve the quality of the product. A MTL electronic cigarette with a tight draw is recommended.

E-liquids are considered a much healthier alternative to smoked tobacco. They are formulated from ingredients certified as safe for health, unlike the 7,000 harmful substances found in traditional cigarettes. Nevertheless, to choose a safe e-liquid, a few precautions should be taken, such as purchasing your e-liquid from a recognised retailer like Le Vapoteur Discount, or checking the composition and origin by favouring reputable and regulated brands.

An e-liquid manufactured in France meets strict requirements and European directives regarding traceability, control, and safety. As a guarantee of quality and transparency for the consumer, French and European brands generally have their own laboratory for developing their e-liquid formula and are required to have this formulation studied by an independent laboratory before going to market. All these steps ensure that e-liquids are safe for vapers. These French and European quality standards prohibit undesirable substances and provide a more secure framework for vaping.

To keep your e-liquid as long as possible and preserve its quality, taste and colour, you should keep it in its original bottle and ideally away from light, heat and air. Despite these precautions, the e-liquid may take on a slightly brown tint. Safe and suitable for consumption, this colour is due to the oxidation of nicotine and may also depend on the flavouring used in the e-liquid. It is generally recommended not to keep the same e-liquid for more than 5 days in your clearomiser or pod cartridge if you are not using it, to avoid leaks and excessive oxidation.

The DLUO (Date Limite d'Utilisation Optimale) or BBD (Best Before Date) is an indicative date. Once the e-liquid's date has passed, it may lose its taste qualities and appearance (colour, fluidity). An e-liquid fresh from the factory will have a BBD of approximately 2 years. Even past the BBD, the e-liquid remains suitable for vaping and will not be harmful to health.
