Le Vapoteur Discount guide to your nicotine salt e-liquid
An e-liquid is a consumable intended exclusively for use in an e-cigarette.
Nicotine salt e-liquids are specially designed to support smokers in their transition to vaping, offering an experience closer to that of a traditional cigarette, without discomfort.
Unlike classic so-called freebase nicotine, nicotine salts are absorbed more quickly by the body. The result: an almost immediate feeling of satisfaction, ideal for effectively curbing sudden urges to smoke, also known as cravings, which are common at the start of smoking cessation.
Another major advantage: even at high nicotine levels (10 mg/ml or 20 mg/ml), inhalation remains smoother, with a noticeably reduced throat hit. Nicotine salts thus allow you to vape comfortably, without irritation or harsh sensations.
This type of e-liquid is particularly recommended for heavy smokers, beginner vapers, or those looking for a simple, effective and quick solution to reduce and then quit smoking. Fewer puffs, but more efficiency: nicotine salts prioritize quality over quantity.
What nicotine level should I choose for my nicotine salt e-liquid?
Nicotine salt e-liquids are generally available in 10 mg/ml and 20 mg/ml, to suit different smoker profiles:
- Light to moderate smoker (fewer than 10 cigarettes per day): a level of 10 mg/ml is generally sufficient to meet nicotine needs without overdosing;
- Regular to heavy smoker (more than 10 cigarettes per day): a level of 20 mg/ml is recommended to effectively compensate for nicotine withdrawal and limit cigarette cravings.
These suggestions are of course indicative. Every vaper is unique: it is important to adjust your nicotine level according to your sensations, your equipment and your vaping pace.
What equipment should I use with a nicotine salt e-liquid?
Nicotine salts require low-powered equipment, oriented towards indirect inhalation (MTL), to avoid too rapid absorption of nicotine. They are most often developed in a 50/50 PG/VG ratio to suit many e-cigarettes with a tight and restricted draw.
E-cigarette
Thanks to its balanced viscosity, a nicotine salt e-liquid is compatible with the majority of versatile e-cigarettes, including:
- Innokin CoolFire Z80 Kit: the unbeatable box mod with built-in battery, versatile and equipped with the Zenith 2;
- Aspire Zelos M80 Kit: the winner of VapExpo 2025;
- Eleaf iStick X80 Kit: the new generation of the iStick series;
- Vaporesso Xros Pro 2 Kit: the kit with impeccable flavor delivery.
Pods
This e-liquid also works very well with modern pods, appreciated for their simplicity and discretion:
- GeekVape Soul 2 Kit: the pod with XXL battery life and versatile draw by GeekVape;
- Aspire Pixo Max Kit: the latest Pixo with maximum battery life and new cartridges;
- Lost Vape Centaurus Ori 35 Kit: a Centaurus pod with incredible performance and finish.
Clearomizers
For a stable and hassle-free vape, opt for versatile clearomizers capable of handling different inhalation styles from MTL or restricted RDL:
- Innokin Zenith 2 Clearomizer: unbeatable, versatile, ideal for MTL or RDL;
- Vaporesso X Tank T Clearomizer: the latest addition to the GTX series;
- GeekVape Zeus Nano 2 Clearomizer: a versatile Zeus, equipped with B Series coils;
- Aspire Nautilus GT 2 Clearomizer: a timeless Nautilus with a modern design.
Coils
The coil value should ideally be between 0.8 ohm and 1.8 ohm, for an adaptable, economical and pleasant vape.
Drip tip
A drip tip standard 510 is generally recommended. This format channels all the flavors of e-liquids and provides a tight draw similar to a traditional cigarette.
Power setting
A nicotine salt e-liquid does not need high power to be effective. A power range of between 8 and 25 watts maximum is generally preferred, depending on the installed coil and the type of draw desired.
Maintaining your e-cigarette
To preserve the performance of your equipment and the quality of your vape:
- Clean your clearomizer and drip tip regularly to avoid the build-up of residue;
- Replace the coil as soon as flavors deteriorate or vapor decreases (on average every 2 to 3 weeks);
- Avoid leaving a tank filled with the same e-liquid for more than 5 days without use, to limit the risk of leaks or flavor degradation.
Usage precautions
- If you do not smoke, do not vape;
- Products containing nicotine are prohibited for minors, pregnant or breastfeeding women, and people with cardiovascular disorders or hypertension;
- In case of allergies, carefully check the list of ingredients and the possible presence of allergens (limonene, tree nuts, etc.), indicated on the label;
- In case of skin contact, nicotine can be irritating for sensitive individuals. Rinse thoroughly with soap and water in case of prolonged contact.

FAQ
An e-liquid (or liquid for electronic cigarettes) is the product that generates vapour when heated by the coil of an electronic cigarette. Unlike traditional cigarettes, there is no combustion. The e-liquid is made up of a base (propylene glycol and vegetable glycerine), flavourings, and optionally nicotine. It determines the taste, the throat hit, the cloud production, and the overall vaping experience.
An e-liquid generally contains four elements:
- propylene glycol (PG), which carries the flavourings, enhances the throat hit and provides a sensation close to that of a cigarette;
- vegetable glycerin (VG), responsible for the vapour and the density of the cloud;
- flavourings, which give the taste (fruit, mint, classic blonde, indulgent, ice…);
- nicotine, optional, which helps manage cravings for vapers who are cutting down.
An e-liquid with nicotine is intended for vapers who wish to replace traditional cigarettes. Nicotine acts on the feeling of satisfaction and reduces cravings. E-liquids without nicotine are used either at the end of a quitting process, or purely for the pleasure of vaping, although it is not recommended to vape if you are not a smoker. Choosing the right nicotine level is essential to avoid a poor experience (throat irritation or cravings).
The nicotine dosage depends on your previous cigarette consumption. A light smoker will not have the same needs as a heavy smoker. A level that is too low can lead to frustration and relapse, while a level that is too high can cause throat discomfort. The goal is to find a balance between hit, sensation and vaping comfort, adjusting gradually as needed.
We generally recommend a low dosage of 0, 3 or 6 mg/ml of nicotine for light smokers or occasional smokers (fewer than 7 cigarettes per day), and a high dosage of 20 mg/ml of nicotine salt for heavy smokers (1 packet of cigarettes or more). However, this dosage can be adjusted depending on your e-cigarette and your vaping style.
Nicotine salt is a more stable form of nicotine that is smoother to inhale. It provides rapid absorption, with a less harsh throat hit, even at high levels. Nicotine salt e-liquids are particularly suited to beginner vapers, former heavy smokers, and low-wattage MTL kits.
Nicotine salts come in various strengths. The most well-known and effective being 20 mg/ml, highly suited to heavy smokers. However, a 10 mg/ml strength can work very well for a regular or occasional smoker.
A nicotine booster is a concentrated nicotine bottle, designed to be added to a large-format e-liquid. It allows you to adjust the final nicotine level depending on the quantity added. Flexible and cost-effective, this solution allows you to boost your large-format e-liquid to 3 or 6 mg/ml of nicotine. For a 50 ml e-liquid, adding one nicotine booster will give you 3 mg/ml, whilst two nicotine boosters will turn your e-liquid into 6 mg/ml.
The propylene glycol / vegetable glycerine ratio strongly influences the vape.
- An e-liquid rich in propylene glycol or PG (70/30, 80/20) enhances the throat hit, flavour precision and a discreet vape. The e-liquid will be fluid and compatible only with MTL devices with a tight draw to avoid leaks.
- An e-liquid rich in vegetable glycerine or VG (30/70) produces more vapour and clouds, with a softer, sweeter sensation. This thicker e-liquid will be compatible with sub-ohm or shisha-type e-cigarettes, producing large clouds of vapour at high power.
E-liquids with a vegetable base or Végétol replace traditional propylene glycol. They are often gentler on the throat, better tolerated by vapers who are sensitive to PG, and offer a smoother vape without compromising on flavour. However, they should be used in MTL with a low wattage (minimum 30 watts) to avoid the risk of leaks and preserve the quality of the product.
Yes, CBD e-liquids are designed for vaping and generally do not contain nicotine. They offer a different sensation, focused on relaxation, without any addictive effect. They should be used at moderate wattage to preserve the quality of the product. A tight draw MTL e-cigarette is recommended for use with them.
E-liquids are considered a much healthier alternative to smoked tobacco. They are formulated from ingredients certified as safe for health, unlike the 7,000 harmful substances found in traditional cigarettes. Nevertheless, to choose a safe e-liquid, a few precautions should be taken, such as purchasing your e-liquid from a recognised retailer like Le Vapoteur Discount or checking the composition and origin by favouring reputable and regulated brands.
An e-liquid manufactured in France meets strict requirements and European directives regarding traceability, control and safety. As a guarantee of quality and transparency for the consumer, French and European brands generally have their own laboratory for developing their e-liquid formula and are required to have this formulation studied by an independent laboratory before placing it on the market. All these steps ensure that e-liquids are safe for vapers. These French and European quality standards prohibit undesirable substances and provide a more secure framework for vaping.
To keep your e-liquid as long as possible and preserve its quality, taste and colour, you should keep it in its original bottle and ideally away from light, heat and air. Despite these precautions, it can happen that the e-liquid takes on a slightly brown tint. Safe and fit for consumption, this colour is due to the oxidation of nicotine and may also depend on the flavouring used in the e-liquid. It is generally advised not to keep the same e-liquid for more than 5 days in your clearomiser or pod cartridge if you are not using it, to avoid leaks and excessive oxidation.
The DLUO (Date Limite d'Utilisation Optimale) or BBD (Best Before Date) is an indicative date. Once the e-liquid's date has passed, it may lose its taste qualities and appearance (colour, fluidity). An e-liquid fresh from the factory will have a BBD of approximately 2 years. Even past the BBD, the e-liquid remains suitable for vaping and will not be harmful to health.
