An e-liquid is a consumable intended exclusively for use with an e-cigarette. The 100 ml format is sold nicotine-free, generally in a 120 ml bottle designed to hold up to two boosters. It can be vaped as is at 0 mg/ml or topped up with one or two nicotine boosters. For a higher strength, prepare the mix in a large graduated empty bottle. Rich in vegetable glycerine, it is thicker, gentle on the throat and produces dense vapour, for direct or restricted direct inhalation with sub-ohm equipment.
Adding boosters is optional: 100 ml e-liquid can be vaped perfectly without nicotine. With direct inhalation, nicotine is felt more strongly than in MTL: with a 30/70 e-liquid, low strengths are preferred.
| Boosters added (10 ml at 20 mg/ml) | Final volume | Strength obtained | Container | Profile |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| None | 100 ml | 0 mg/ml | Original bottle | Nicotine-free vaping, flavour enjoyment |
| 1 booster | 110 ml | ≈ 2 mg/ml | Original bottle | Low nicotine requirement, DL vaping |
| 2 boosters | 120 ml | ≈ 3 mg/ml | Original bottle | Occasional smoker, DL vaping |
| 3 boosters | 130 ml | ≈ 4.5 mg/ml | Large graduated bottle | Moderate smoker, RDL vaping |
| 4 boosters | 140 ml | ≈ 6 mg/ml | Large graduated bottle | Moderate smoker, RDL vaping |
The strengths obtained are rounded (exactly 1.8, 3.3, 4.6 and 5.7 mg/ml). The original 120 ml bottle holds a maximum of two boosters: from three boosters onwards, the mixture must be transferred to a larger bottle. When vaping DL with coils below 0.4 Ω, a strength above 3 mg/ml quickly becomes irritating: two boosters are generally sufficient. For nicotine requirements above 6 mg/ml, the 10 ml format or nicotine salts are more suitable.
Up to 3 mg/ml, in the original bottle:

Le Vapoteur Discount boosters come in 10 ml bottles (strength stated on each product page). The type of nicotine and the base alter the throat hit. With a 30/70 e-liquid, a 50/50 booster or nicotine salt booster preserves smoothness; with 50/50 boosters, the mixture remains close to 35/65.
| Booster | Sensation | Who is it for? |
|---|---|---|
| 50/50 nicotine booster | Classic throat hit, neutral flavour | The standard choice, compatible with all ratios |
| 70/30 nicotine booster | Stronger throat hit, enhanced flavours | MTL vaping, for those seeking a sensation close to a cigarette |
| Cool 50/50 nicotine booster | Classic throat hit with a touch of freshness | Fans of fresh fruity or menthol flavours |
| Nicotine salt booster | Very smooth throat hit | Vapers sensitive to throat hit or looking for smoothness |
| Cool nicotine salt booster | Smooth and cool throat hit | The smoothness of salts with a cool note |
| Hybrid nicotine booster | Balance between throat hit and smoothness | A compromise between classic nicotine and nicotine salts |

An e-liquid is made up of a base of propylene glycol (PG) and vegetable glycerine (VG), flavourings and, in some cases, nicotine. PG carries the flavours and throat hit, while VG adds smoothness and vapour volume. With 70% VG, this ratio prioritises vapour density and a smooth throat sensation.

| Suitable equipment | Pods, MTL clearomisers | Pods, kits, MTL and RDL clearomisers | Mods, sub-ohm clearomisers (DL) |
More viscous, a 30/70 e-liquid requires coils with large e-liquid inlet ports. In a pod or MTL clearomiser, it does not wick the cotton properly and can cause dry hits (burnt taste).
30/70 performs at its best with sub-ohm equipment, capable of delivering power and feeding the coil correctly. Here are the most suitable equipment types and some examples available from Le Vapoteur Discount:
| Equipment | Key points | Examples |
|---|---|---|
| Box mod | Powerful battery-powered kits fitted with a sub-ohm clearomiser. | Kit Aegis Legend 5 – GeekVape Kit Gen Max – Vaporesso Kit Armour Max 220 W iTank T – Vaporesso |
| Pods | Powerful pod mods compatible with sub-ohm coils. | Kit Luxe XR Max 2 – Vaporesso Kit Drag X3 – Voopoo Pod Drag X2 – Voopoo |
| Clearomisers | Choose sub-ohm models compatible with coils from 0.15 to 0.6 Ω. | iTank T Dual Mesh – Vaporesso Z SubOhm 5 – GeekVape UForce-X – Voopoo |
The coil resistance value and power determine the type of draw. With a 30/70 e-liquid, higher power is needed to vaporise VG effectively:
| Coil | Type of draw | Recommended power | Suitable nicotine strength |
|---|---|---|---|
| 0.4 to 0.6 Ω | RDL – semi-airy draw | 25 to 40 W | 3 to 6 mg/ml |
| 0.2 to 0.4 Ω | DL – airy draw | 40 to 70 W | 0 to 3 mg/ml |
| 0.15 to 0.2 Ω | DL – very airy draw | 60 to 90 W | 0 to 3 mg/ml |
Always follow the power range stated on the coil and start at the lower end of that range. For the drip tip, a wide 810 mouthpiece makes direct inhalation easier and allows a high volume of vapour through.
Remember to recycle: empty bottles should be taken to suitable collection points.

An e-liquid (or liquid for electronic cigarette) is the product that generates vapour when heated by the coil of an electronic cigarette. Unlike traditional cigarettes, there is no combustion. The e-liquid is composed of a base (propylene glycol and vegetable glycerine), flavourings, and optionally nicotine. It determines the taste, the throat hit, the cloud production, and the overall vaping experience.
An e-liquid generally contains four elements:
Some formulas also use alternative vegetable bases (Végétol) for a smoother experience.
An e-liquid with nicotine is intended for vapers who wish to replace traditional cigarettes. Nicotine acts on the feeling of satisfaction and reduces cravings. Nicotine-free e-liquids are used either at the end of a cessation programme, or purely for the pleasure of vaping, although it is not recommended to vape if you are not a smoker. Choosing the right nicotine level is essential to avoid a poor experience (throat irritation or cravings). The nicotine dosage depends on your previous cigarette consumption. A light smoker will not have the same needs as a heavy smoker. A level that is too low can lead to frustration and relapse, whilst a level that is too high can cause throat discomfort. The aim is to find the right balance between hit, sensation, and vaping comfort, adjusting gradually as needed. A low dosage of 0, 3 or 6 mg/ml of nicotine is generally recommended for light smokers or occasional smokers (fewer than 7 cigarettes per day), and a high dosage of 20 mg/ml of nicotine salt for heavy smokers (1 packet of cigarettes or more). However, this dosage can be adjusted according to your e-cigarette and the way you vape.
Nicotine salt is a more stable and smoother form of nicotine to inhale. It provides rapid absorption, with a less harsh throat hit, even at high strengths. Nicotine salt e-liquids are particularly suited to beginner vapers, former heavy smokers, and low-powered MTL kits. There are different nicotine salt dosages. The most well-known and effective being 20 mg/ml, highly suited to heavy smokers. However, a 10 mg/ml dosage can be perfectly suitable for a regular or occasional smoker.
A nicotine booster is a concentrated nicotine bottle, designed to be added to a large-format e-liquid. It allows you to adjust the final nicotine level according to the quantity added. Flexible and economical, this solution allows you to boost your large-format e-liquid to 3 or 6 mg/ml of nicotine. For a 50 ml e-liquid, adding one nicotine booster will give you 3 mg/ml, while two nicotine boosters will turn your e-liquid into 6 mg/ml.
The propylene glycol / vegetable glycerin ratio strongly influences the vape.
The choice therefore depends on the wattage and compatibility with your electronic cigarette. If in doubt, the most common ratio remains 50/50 PG/VG. Balanced, it allows versatile use on MTL, RDL and light DTL electronic cigarette models (between approximately 15 and 40 watts).
E-liquids with a vegetable base or with Végétol replace traditional propylene glycol. They are often gentler on the throat, better tolerated by some vapers who are sensitive to PG, and offer a smoother vape without compromising on flavour. However, they should be used in MTL with low wattage (minimum 30 watts) to avoid the risk of leaks and preserve the quality of the product.
Yes, CBD e-liquids are designed for vaping and generally do not contain nicotine. They offer a different sensation, focused on relaxation, without any addictive effect. They should be used at moderate wattage to preserve the quality of the product. A tight-draw MTL e-cigarette is recommended for use with them.
E-liquids are considered a much healthier alternative to smoked tobacco. They are formulated from ingredients certified as safe for health, unlike the 7,000 harmful substances found in traditional cigarettes. Nevertheless, to choose a safe e-liquid, a few precautions should be taken, such as purchasing your e-liquid from a recognised retailer like Le Vapoteur Discount, or checking the composition and origin by favouring reputable and regulated brands.
An e-liquid manufactured in France meets strict requirements and European guidelines regarding traceability, quality control, and safety. As a guarantee of quality and transparency for the consumer, French and European brands generally have their own laboratory for developing their e-liquid formula and are required to have this formulation reviewed by an independent laboratory before it goes to market. All these steps ensure that e-liquids are safe for vapers. These French and European quality standards prohibit undesirable substances and provide a more secure framework for vaping.
To keep your e-liquid for as long as possible and preserve its quality, taste and colour, you should keep it in its original bottle and ideally away from light, heat and air. Despite these precautions, it can happen that the e-liquid takes on a slightly brown tint. Safe and fit for consumption, this colour is due to the oxidation of nicotine and can also depend on the flavouring used in the e-liquid. It is generally recommended not to keep the same e-liquid for more than 5 days in your clearomiser or pod cartridge if you are not using it, to avoid leaks and excessive oxidation.
The DLUO (Date Limite d'Utilisation Optimale) or BBD (Best Before Date) is an indicative date. Once the e-liquid's date has passed, it may lose its taste qualities and appearance (colour, fluidity). An e-liquid fresh from the factory will have a BBD of approximately 2 years. Even past its BBD, the e-liquid remains suitable for vaping and will not be harmful to health.
