The Le Vapoteur Discount guide to choosing your 10 ml e-liquid

Essential for any electronic cigarette, the e-liquid is the heart of your vaping experience. The 10 ml format is currently the only one permitted to contain nicotine under European regulations. Compact, practical and easy to carry, it allows you to try a flavour, adjust your nicotine level or vape daily with complete ease.
It is also the ideal format to support a journey of reducing or quitting tobacco, at your own pace.

What nicotine level should you choose for your e-liquid?

The right nicotine level depends above all on your smoker profile and your habits. The aim is to satisfy the craving without discomfort, whilst maintaining an enjoyable vape.

  • Light smoker (fewer than 5 cigarettes per day)
    0 to 6 mg/ml
    A gentle dosage, sufficient to curb the urge to smoke while offering a light throat sensation.

  • Moderate smoker (5 to 15 cigarettes per day)
    6 to 12 mg/ml
    An ideal balance to rediscover a sensation close to a traditional cigarette, without frustration.

  • Intense smoker (more than 15 cigarettes per day)
    12 to 18 mg/ml
    A higher level, designed to meet a significant nicotine need, particularly at the start of quitting.

  • Heavy smoker (more than 20 cigarettes per day)
    18 to 20 mg/ml
    The maximum permitted dosage, often associated with nicotine salts, for faster absorption and a smoother sensation.

These indications remain guidelines: every vaper is unique. Your personal feel, the throat hit and the equipment used may lead you to adjust your dosage.

What equipment should you use with a fluid e-liquid rich in PG (80/20 to 60/40)?

Thanks to their high propylene glycol content, these e-liquids are fluid, highly aromatic and deliver a pronounced hit. They are perfectly suited to indirect (MTL) vaping, close to the sensation of a cigarette.

Electronic cigarette

E-liquids rich in PG perform best on compact models focused on flavour rendition, such as:

Pods

They also work very well with high-performing pods that are simple to use:

Clearomisers

For optimum flavour rendition, opt for MTL-oriented clearomisers, such as:

Resistances

Ideally, small coils of between 1.2 ohm and 1.8 ohm are preferred, for a smooth, economical and flavourful vape.

Drip tip mouthpiece

A drip tip 510, slim and elongated, is recommended in order to concentrate the flavours and enhance the sensation in the mouth.

What wattage should you opt for when vaping?

E-liquids rich in PG do not require high wattage.
A vape below 20 watts is more than sufficient to fully enjoy the flavours, whilst preserving the lifespan of the coils.

Taking proper care of your electronic cigarette

Regular maintenance is essential to ensure a healthy, flavourful and lasting vape:

  • Clean the clearomiser and drip tip regularly to prevent the build-up of residue;
  • Replace the coil as soon as flavours deteriorate or vapour production decreases (on average every 2 to 3 weeks) and take the opportunity to thoroughly clean your clearomiser;
  • Avoid leaving a tank filled with the same e-liquid for more than 5 days without use, in order to limit the risk of leaks or flavour deterioration.

Usage precautions

  • If you do not smoke, do not vape;
  • Product containing nicotine: prohibited for minors, not recommended for pregnant women or people suffering from cardiovascular disorders or hypertension;
  • In the event of allergies, check for the possible presence of allergens (limonene, tree nuts, etc.) listed on the label;
  • In the event of skin contact, rinse thoroughly with water and soap;
  • Store your e-liquids in a dry place, away from light and temperature fluctuations, out of reach of children and animals.

Think about recycling: empty bottles should be disposed of through appropriate channels.

FAQ

An e-liquid (or liquid for electronic cigarettes) is the product that generates vapour when heated by the coil of an electronic cigarette. Unlike traditional cigarettes, there is no combustion. The e-liquid is composed of a base (propylene glycol and vegetable glycerin), flavourings, and optionally nicotine. It determines the taste, the throat sensation, the cloud production, and the overall vaping experience.

An e-liquid generally contains four elements:

  • propylene glycol (PG), which carries the flavours, enhances the throat hit and delivers a sensation close to that of a cigarette;
  • vegetable glycerin (VG), responsible for the vapour and the density of the cloud;
  • the flavourings, which provide the taste (fruit, mint, classic tobacco, dessert, ice…);
  • nicotine, optional, which helps manage cravings for vapers who are quitting smoking.

Some formulas also use alternative plant-based bases (Végétol) for extra smoothness.

An e-liquid with nicotine is intended for vapers who wish to replace the traditional cigarette. Nicotine acts on the feeling of satisfaction and reduces cravings. Nicotine-free e-liquids are used either towards the end of a quit-smoking journey, or purely for the pleasure of vaping, although it is not recommended to vape if you are not a smoker. Choosing the right nicotine strength is essential to avoid a poor experience (irritation or cravings). The nicotine dosage depends on your previous cigarette consumption. A light smoker will not have the same needs as a heavy smoker. A strength that is too low can lead to frustration and relapse, while a strength that is too high can cause throat discomfort. The goal is to find the right balance between hit, sensation, and vaping comfort, adjusting gradually as needed. A low strength of 0, 3 or 6 mg/ml of nicotine is generally recommended for light smokers or occasional smokers (fewer than 7 cigarettes per day), and a high strength of 20 mg/ml nicotine salt for a heavy smoker (one pack of cigarettes or more). However, this strength can be adjusted depending on your electronic cigarette and your vaping style.

Nicotine salt is a more stable and smoother form of nicotine to inhale. It provides rapid absorption with a less harsh throat hit, even at high strengths. Nicotine salt e-liquids are particularly suited to beginner vapers, former heavy smokers, and low-wattage MTL kits. Nicotine salts come in various strengths. The most well-known and effective is 20 mg/ml, which is very suitable for heavy smokers. However, a 10 mg/ml strength can work very well for regular or occasional smokers.

A nicotine booster is a concentrated nicotine bottle, designed to be added to a large-format e-liquid. It allows you to adjust the final nicotine strength depending on the quantity added. Flexible and cost-effective, this solution lets you boost your large-format e-liquid to 3 or 6 mg/ml of nicotine. For a 50 ml e-liquid, adding one nicotine booster will give you 3 mg/ml; two nicotine boosters will bring your e-liquid to 6 mg/ml.

The propylene glycol / vegetable glycerin ratio has a strong influence on the vaping experience.

  • An e-liquid rich in propylene glycol or PG (70/30, 80/20) enhances the throat hit, the precision of the flavours, and a discreet vape. The e-liquid will be thin and only compatible with MTL equipment with a tight draw to avoid leaks.
  • An e-liquid rich in vegetable glycerin or VG (30/70) produces more vapour and cloud, with a softer, sweeter sensation. This thicker e-liquid will be compatible with sub-ohm or hookah-style electronic cigarettes, producing large vapour clouds at high wattage.

The choice therefore depends on the wattage and compatibility with your electronic cigarette. If in doubt, the most common ratio remains 50/50 PG/VG. Well-balanced, it allows versatile use across MTL, RDL, and light DTL electronic cigarette models (roughly between 15 and 40 watts).

Plant-based or Végétol e-liquids replace traditional propylene glycol. They are often gentler on the throat, better tolerated by vapers who are sensitive to PG, and offer a smoother vape without compromising on flavour. However, they should be used in MTL mode at low wattage (minimum 30 watts) to avoid the risk of leaks and to preserve the quality of the product.

Yes, CBD e-liquids are designed for vaping and generally contain no nicotine. They offer a different sensation, focused on relaxation, without any addictive effect. They should be used at moderate wattage to preserve the quality of the product. We recommend using them with a tight-draw MTL e-cigarette.

E-liquids are considered a much healthier alternative to smoked tobacco. They are formulated from ingredients certified as safe for health, unlike the 7,000 harmful substances found in traditional cigarettes. Nevertheless, to choose a safe e-liquid, a few precautions should be taken, such as buying your e-liquid from a recognised retailer like Le Vapoteur Discount, or checking the composition and origin by favouring reputable and regulated brands.

An e-liquid manufactured in France adheres to strict requirements and European directives regarding traceability, quality control, and safety. As a guarantee of quality and transparency for the consumer, French and European brands generally have their own laboratory for developing their e-liquid formula and are required to have that formulation assessed by an independent laboratory before it goes to market. All these steps ensure that e-liquids are safe for vapers. These French and European quality standards prohibit undesirable substances and provide a more secure framework for vaping.

To keep your e-liquid for as long as possible and preserve its quality, taste, and colour, store it in its original bottle and ideally away from light, heat, and air. Despite these precautions, the e-liquid may sometimes take on a slightly brownish tint. Safe and perfectly fit for consumption, this colour is caused by the oxidation of the nicotine and may also depend on the flavouring used in the e-liquid. It is generally advisable not to keep the same e-liquid in your clearomiser or pod cartridge for more than 5 days if you are not using it, in order to avoid leaks and excessive oxidation.

The DLUO (Best Before Date) or BBD (Best Before Date) is an indicative date. Once the e-liquid's date has passed, it may lose its taste qualities and appearance (colour, fluidity). An e-liquid fresh from the factory will have a BBD of approximately 2 years. Even past the BBD, the e-liquid remains suitable for vaporisation and will not be harmful to health.
