Z Series GeekVape coils: for a direct-to-lung vape

The GeekVape Z Series coils are designed for the brand's subohm clearomisers, particularly those from the Zeus range. Intended for direct-to-lung inhalation (DL), they offer an airy draw and vapour production suited to high wattages.

These coils use a Mesh design, combined with cotton, to heat the e-liquid evenly. Several ohm values are offered to adapt the hardware's performance to your vaping habits.

A Mesh design suited to subohm vaping

• Z0.4 ohm XM Mesh: from 50 to 60 watts.

The ohm value must always be taken into account before adjusting your e-cigarette. A low-resistance coil is generally intended for higher wattage and a more airy draw.

The Z0.25 ohm coil is not compatible with the GeekVape P Subohm Tank clearomiser.

Compatibility with GeekVape clearomisers

Z Series coils can be used with several tanks from the GeekVape brand, including:

• P Sub Ohm Tank;
• Z Sub-Ohm;
• Z Subohm 2021;
• Zeus Tank.

They are also found on certain kits from the brand, such as the Aegis Solo 2 S100, Aegis Legend 2 L200 and Aegis Max 2, when fitted with the corresponding clearomiser.

Which e-liquid should you use?

Z Series models are primarily intended for subohm direct-to-lung vaping. They are therefore suited to e-liquids containing a high proportion of vegetable glycerine.

A 30/70 PG/VG ratio is particularly suited to this type of hardware. However, the viscosity of the liquid must remain appropriate for the coil used in order to ensure proper cotton feeding.

The nicotine level also deserves particular attention. With a direct-to-lung vape at high wattage, it is preferable to use a moderate dosage. Heavily nicotined e-liquids are not suited to this type of use.

DIY enthusiasts can also use their usual recipes, provided they respect the PG/VG ratio and the coil's power recommendations.

How to change your Z Series coil?

Replacement is carried out when the tank is preferably empty. The coil fits onto the base of the clearomiser.

To install a new coil:

1. Unscrew the base of the tank.
2. Remove the used coil.
3. Drop a few drops of e-liquid onto the cotton of the new coil.
4. Insert the coil into its slot.
5. Close the clearomiser and fill the tank.
6. Wait approximately 10 minutes to allow the cotton to soak properly.
7. Start at a low wattage before gradually increasing the watts.

This priming step helps avoid heating a still-dry cotton during the first puffs.

When should you replace your coil?

A coil is a consumable part whose lifespan varies according to each vaper's habits. Several signs may indicate that a replacement is becoming necessary:

• flavours are less present;
• vapour decreases;
• a burnt taste appears;
• the draw becomes different;
• the cotton shows significant discolouration.

The replacement frequency depends in particular on the number of daily puffs, the selected wattage and the type of e-liquid used.

A liquid rich in vegetable glycerine or heavily flavoured can clog the cotton more quickly. There is therefore no universal lifespan: the best indicator remains the evolution of the performance over the course of use.

A few tips to preserve your coil

To maintain regular performance, a few simple habits can be adopted.

Respect the recommended power range. Each reference has its own recommendations. Avoid exceeding the maximum wattage indicated on the coil.

Keep an eye on the tank level. The cotton must remain sufficiently fed with liquid. Avoid vaping when the level gets too low.

Let the cotton soak. After each change, take the time to properly prime the new coil before you start vaping.

Avoid puffing too rapidly in succession. A series of draws without a pause can prevent the liquid from wicking back up to the cotton quickly enough.

Maintain your clearomiser. Regular cleaning of the tank and its base helps limit the build-up of residue and keeps your hardware clean.
