Why clean your e-cigarette?

Once you have chosen your e-cigarette, you will need to take care of it. Indeed, in order to preserve the components of your e-cigarette and ensure an optimal lifespan, it is strongly recommended to maintain it regularly. During use, the various parts that make up the e-cigarette can deteriorate in multiple ways. First, the e-liquid you use for vaping is made up of several materials (vegetable glycerin and propylene glycol), both thick and sticky, which can quickly clog the tank. Furthermore, this type of electronic device is also susceptible to dust and surrounding dirt. All these external elements have the ability to affect, sooner or later, the overall performance of your e-cig and at the same time harm the quality of your vaping experience.

How to go about cleaning your e-cigarette?

In order to clean your e-cigarette effectively, it is important to proceed step by step. Indeed, the various parts found in an e-cigarette cannot be cleaned in the same way, given that some components are electronic and will not withstand rinsing with water, for example. Furthermore, depending on the type of vape you have (an all-in-one or a disassemblable e-cigarette), you will also need to proceed in different ways.

Cleaning the tank

To limit the buildup in your tank, you should clean it every time you change your liquid. To do so, proceed in the usual way by unscrewing and then completely emptying the tank. Once the tank of your clearomizer or your atomizer is empty, clean it with clear, warm water. Then make sure to dry it as best you can by wiping the walls and threads inside with absorbent paper. In any case, it is advisable to let the tank dry for 24 hours, so that it is completely dry and no water drops mix with your e-liquid during your next refill.

If you have an all-in-one e-cigarette and the tank cannot be disassembled, proceed as follows: use a cotton swab or a cloth dampened with alcohol to clean your tank. Indeed, since the battery is in the same unit, rinsing with water is completely prohibited. This way, you will avoid e-liquid leaks.

Cleaning the Drip-tip

The Drip-tip is the upper part of any e-cigarette. It is the mouthpiece on which you place your lips to inhale the vapor. This is why, exposed to air, dust, and moisture, this part is particularly prone to retaining dirt and should therefore be maintained as a priority. For obvious hygiene reasons, it is imperative to regularly rinse the Drip-tip with clean water. Once it is clean, you can blow through it several times until the remaining water droplets are fully expelled.

Cleaning the chimney and airflow

The chimney and the airflow are essential components for the proper functioning of an e-cigarette. These parts are an integral part of the clearomizer or the atomizer and are constantly called upon to produce vapor and deliver flavors. Since they allow the circulation of air and vapor and are subject to a suction effect, they are more likely to be exposed to dirt. This is why it is advisable to clean these components every time you change your coil.

If the chimney and the airflow are fixed to the clearomizer or the atomizer and cannot be disassembled, it will be considerably more difficult to carry out a thorough cleaning. When disassembly is possible, it is advised to run them under water at high flow for several minutes, in order to deeply remove any impurities. Once rinsed, leave the airflow and the chimney of your e-cigarette to dry on an absorbent paper towel. It is truly important that no trace of moisture remains on these parts before you reassemble them onto your clearomizer or atomizer. Indeed, if any water remains, it could spread through the system and, in the worst case, damage the coil.

Should you clean the coil and battery of your e-cigarette?

The coil

Like virtually all the parts that make up your e-cigarette, the coil gets dirty and its power decreases over time as you use it. Indeed, the coil is made up of a wick, which absorbs e-liquid, and a coil that heats it. As such, it is therefore bound to deteriorate. However, it is strongly advised against trying to clean the coil, as it risks being damaged much more quickly upon contact with water. This is why it is preferable to regularly change your coil as you notice a drop in performance.

The battery

Over time, the battery of your vape may show signs of wear and struggle to power your atomizer/clearomizer. To clean its connectors, simply use an absorbent paper towel or a dry cotton swab. It goes without saying that cleaning your e-cigarette battery with water or any other liquid component is out of the question, as this risks causing a short circuit and permanently damaging your battery.

A few tips to extend the lifespan of your e-cigarette

If you don't have much time to dedicate to maintaining your e-cigarette, it's important to know the best practices to put in place to delay the first signs of wear as long as possible and use it for as long as possible! First, the atomizer/clearomizer should never run with an empty tank. It is indeed preferable to anticipate and refill it when the liquid level is low, and to always choose the best setting for your coils. Furthermore, it is necessary to opt for an appropriate mode if you want to produce a lot of vapor, in order to avoid overheating. Finally, empty all the liquid from your e-cigarette if you don't plan on using it for a while. This will minimize any risk of buildup.
