Essential for the operation of any e-cigarette, e-liquid determines the flavour, throat hit and vapour produced. The 10 ml format is the only one permitted under European regulations (TPD) to contain nicotine, up to a limit of 20 mg/ml. High in propylene glycol, 70/30 e-liquid is fluid, highly flavoured and provides a pronounced throat hit, for indirect inhalation similar to the draw of a cigarette.
The right nicotine strength depends on your tobacco consumption and habits. The aim is to achieve a comfortable throat sensation (the “hit”), without irritation or cravings. The 70/30 ratio is suitable for the full range of strengths, including high strengths, thanks to the low power used for MTL.
| Profile | Consumption | Recommended strength | Throat sensation |
|---|---|---|---|
| Occasional smoker | Fewer than 5 cigarettes / day | 0 to 3 mg/ml | ●○○○ Mild |
| Moderate smoker | 5 to 10 cigarettes / day | 6 mg/ml | ●●○○ Moderate |
| Regular smoker | 10 to 20 cigarettes / day | 12 mg/ml | ●●●○ Pronounced |
| Heavy smoker | More than 20 cigarettes / day | 16 to 20 mg/ml | ●●●● Intense |
These guidelines are indicative: the sensation, equipment used and inhalation style may lead you to adjust your strength. As PG enhances the throat hit, a slightly lower strength than with a 50/50 may be sufficient. For high strengths, nicotine salts offer a smoother throat sensation. The strengths available for this e-liquid are shown in the product page selector.
An e-liquid is made up of a propylene glycol (PG) and vegetable glycerine (VG) base, flavourings and, where applicable, nicotine. PG carries the flavours and throat hit, while VG provides smoothness and vapour volume. With 70% PG, this ratio prioritises flavour accuracy and throat sensation, with discreet vapour.

| Suitable equipment | Pods, MTL clearomisers | Pods, kits, MTL and RDL clearomisers | Box mods, sub-ohm clearomisers (DL) |
Very fluid, a 70/30 e-liquid quickly saturates tight-draw coils. However, it is not recommended for sub-ohm equipment, where it may leak and produce an overly harsh throat hit.
70/30 performs best with compact, MTL-oriented equipment focused on flavour delivery. Here are the most suitable equipment categories and a few examples available from Le Vapoteur Discount:
| Equipment | Key features | Examples |
|---|---|---|
| E-cigarettes | Compact kits with MTL clearomisers, low power and long battery life. | Kit Q16 Pro – Justfog Kit Wenax M2 – GeekVape Kit GTX One Pro 40 W – Vaporesso |
| Pods | Tight-draw cartridges, discreet format and no-adjustment operation. | Kit Xros 6 – Vaporesso Kit Ursa Nano 3 – Lost Vape Kit Argus G2 Mini + – Voopoo |
| Clearomisers | Choose MTL models compatible with coils from 0.8 to 1.8 Ω. | Q16 Pro – Justfog GOZ+ – Innokin Go-Z MTL Tank – Innokin |
The coil resistance and power determine the vaping style. With a 70/30 e-liquid, low power is enough to release the flavours:
| Coil | Vaping style | Recommended power | Suitable nicotine strength |
|---|---|---|---|
| 1.2 to 1.8 Ω | MTL – tight draw, similar to a cigarette | 8 to 15 W | All strengths |
| 0.8 to 1.2 Ω | MTL – slightly airier draw | 12 to 20 W | Up to 12 mg/ml |
Always start at the lower end of the power range stated on the coil, then increase gradually without exceeding 20 W. For the drip tip, a slim, elongated 510 tip concentrates flavours and enhances the mouthfeel.
Remember to recycle: empty bottles should be taken to appropriate collection points.

An e-liquid (or liquid for electronic cigarettes) is the product that generates vapour when heated by the coil of an electronic cigarette. Unlike traditional cigarettes, there is no combustion. The e-liquid is composed of a base (propylene glycol and vegetable glycerin), flavourings, and optionally nicotine. It determines the taste, the throat sensation, the cloud production, and the overall vaping experience.
An e-liquid generally contains four elements:
Some formulas also use alternative plant-based bases (Végétol) for extra smoothness.
An e-liquid with nicotine is intended for vapers who wish to replace the traditional cigarette. Nicotine acts on the feeling of satisfaction and limits cravings. Nicotine-free e-liquids are used either at the end of the quitting process, or purely for the pleasure of vaping, although it is not recommended to vape if you are not a smoker. Choosing the right nicotine level is essential to avoid a bad experience (irritation or cravings). The nicotine dosage depends on your previous cigarette consumption. A light smoker will not have the same needs as a heavy smoker. Too low a level can lead to frustration and relapse, while too high a level can cause throat discomfort. The goal is to find a balance between hit, sensation and vaping comfort, gradually adjusting as needed. A low dosage of 0, 3 or 6 mg/ml of nicotine is generally recommended for light smokers or occasional smokers (fewer than 7 cigarettes per day), and a high dosage of 20 mg/ml of nicotine salt for heavy smokers (1 pack of cigarettes or more). However, this dosage can be adjusted depending on your electronic cigarette and your vaping style.
Nicotine salt is a more stable and smoother form of nicotine to inhale. It provides rapid absorption with a less harsh throat hit, even at high levels. Nicotine salt e-liquids are particularly suited to beginner vapers, former heavy smokers and low-power MTL kits. Various nicotine salt dosages are available. The best known and most effective is 20 mg/ml, very well suited to heavy smokers. However, a dosage of 10 mg/ml can be perfectly suitable for a regular or occasional smoker.
A nicotine booster is a nicotine-concentrated bottle designed to be added to a large-format e-liquid. It allows you to adjust the final nicotine level according to the quantity added. Flexible and economical, this solution allows you to boost your large-format e-liquid to 3 or 6 mg/ml of nicotine. For a 50 ml e-liquid, adding one nicotine booster will give you 3 mg/ml, while two nicotine boosters will transform your e-liquid into 6 mg/ml.
The propylene glycol / vegetable glycerin ratio strongly influences the vaping experience.
The choice therefore depends on the wattage and compatibility with your e-cigarette. If in doubt, the most common ratio remains 50/50 PG/VG. Balanced, it allows versatile use on MTL, RDL and light DTL e-cigarette models (between approximately 15 and 40 watts).
E-liquids with a vegetable base or Végétol replace traditional propylene glycol. They are often gentler on the throat, better tolerated by vapers who are sensitive to PG, and offer a smoother vape without compromising on flavour. However, they should be used in MTL mode at low wattage (minimum 30 watts) to avoid the risk of leaks and to preserve the quality of the product.
Yes, CBD e-liquids are designed for vaping and generally do not contain nicotine. They offer a different experience, focused on relaxation, with no addictive effect. They should be used at moderate wattage to preserve the quality of the product. For best results, use them with a tight-draw MTL e-cigarette.
E-liquids are considered a far healthier alternative to smoked tobacco. They are formulated from ingredients certified as safe for health, unlike the 7,000 harmful substances found in traditional cigarettes. Nevertheless, to choose a safe e-liquid, a few precautions should be taken, such as purchasing your e-liquid from a recognised retailer like Le Vapoteur Discount, or checking the composition and origin by favouring reputable and regulated brands.
An e-liquid manufactured in France meets strict requirements and European directives regarding traceability, testing and safety. As a guarantee of quality and transparency for the consumer, French and European brands generally have their own laboratory for developing their e-liquid formulas and are required to have these formulations assessed by an independent laboratory before going to market. All these steps ensure that e-liquids are safe for vapers. These French and European quality standards prohibit undesirable substances and provide a more secure framework for vaping.
To keep your e-liquid as fresh as possible and preserve its quality, taste and colour, store it in its original bottle, ideally away from light, heat and air. Despite these precautions, the e-liquid may sometimes take on a slightly brown tint. Safe and fit for consumption, this colour is caused by the oxidation of nicotine and may also depend on the flavouring used in the e-liquid. It is generally recommended not to keep the same e-liquid in your clearomiser or pod cartridge for more than 5 days if you are not using it, to avoid leaks and excessive oxidation.
The BBD (Best Before Date) or MHD (Minimum Durability Date) is an indicative date. Once the e-liquid's date has passed, it may lose its flavour qualities and appearance (colour, fluidity). A factory-fresh e-liquid will have a BBD of approximately 2 years. Even past its BBD, the e-liquid remains safe to vape and will not be harmful to your health.
