Choosing the right 10 ml 50/50 PG/VG e-liquid

Essential for the operation of any e-cigarette, e-liquid determines the flavour, throat hit and vapour produced. The 10 ml format is the only one permitted by European regulations (TPD) to contain nicotine, up to 20 mg/ml. Compact and easy to carry, it lets you discover a flavour, adjust your nicotine strength or vape every day.

10 mlRegulated nicotine format
50/50Balanced PG/VG ratio
MTL / RDLIndirect or semi-direct inhalation
≤ 20 mg/mlMaximum nicotine strength (TPD)

Which nicotine strength should you choose?

The right nicotine strength depends on your tobacco consumption and habits. The aim: to achieve a comfortable throat hit, without irritation or cravings.

Profile Consumption Indicative strength Throat sensation
Occasional smoker Fewer than 5 cigarettes / day 0 to 3 mg/ml ●○○○ Light
Moderate smoker 5 to 10 cigarettes / day 6 mg/ml ●●○○ Moderate
Regular smoker 10 to 20 cigarettes / day 12 mg/ml ●●●○ Strong
Heavy smoker More than 20 cigarettes / day 16 to 20 mg/ml ●●●● Intense

These guidelines are indicative: the sensation, equipment used and inhalation style may lead you to adjust your strength. The higher the vaping power, the stronger the perceived hit: a high strength is best vaped with indirect inhalation (MTL). For high strengths, nicotine salts offer a gentler throat sensation. The strengths available for this e-liquid are shown in the product page selector.

The 50/50 PG/VG ratio: a versatile balance

An e-liquid is made up of a propylene glycol (PG) and vegetable glycerine (VG) base, flavourings and, where applicable, nicotine. PG carries flavour and throat hit, while VG provides smoothness and vapour volume. In equal parts, the 50/50 ratio combines these two properties.

Suitable equipment Pods, MTL Pods, kits, MTL and RDL clearomisers Mods, sub-ohm (DL)

Thanks to its fluidity, a 50/50 e-liquid properly saturates the coils in most clearomisers and cartridges, without being too runny for restricted-draw models.

What equipment for a 50/50 e-liquid?

50/50 is compatible with the vast majority of e-cigarettes. Here are the most suitable equipment categories and a few examples available from Le Vapoteur Discount:

Equipment Key points Examples
E-cigarettes Complete kits (battery + clearomiser), with simple or adjustable settings depending on the model. Kit Q16 Pro – Justfog
Kit PockeX Pocket AIO – Aspire
Kit Coolfire Z80 Zenith 2 – Innokin
Pods Compact format, refillable cartridges, use without complex settings. Kit Luxe XR Max 2 – Vaporesso
Kit Kiwi 2 – Kiwi Vapor
Kit Pixo Max – Aspire
Clearomisers Choose MTL or RDL models, compatible with coils from 0.4 to 1.2 Ω. Zenith 2 – Innokin
Q16 Pro Plus – Justfog
GOZ+ – Innokin
Z Nano 3 – GeekVape

Recommended settings

The coil resistance and power determine the type of draw. With a 50/50 e-liquid, the following guidelines provide stable vaping:

Coil Draw type Indicative power Suitable nicotine strength
1.0 to 1.2 Ω MTL – restricted draw, similar to a cigarette 10 to 18 W All strengths
0.6 to 0.9 Ω MTL to RDL – intermediate draw 15 to 25 W Up to 12 mg/ml
0.4 to 0.5 Ω RDL – semi-airy draw 25 to 40 W 0 to 6 mg/ml

Always start at the lower end of the power range indicated on the coil, then increase gradually. For the drip tip, a 510 mouthpiece is suitable for most uses; an 810 drip tip can be used for RDL on clearomisers designed for this format.

Looking after your e-cigarette

1
Prime every new coil: apply a few drops of e-liquid to the cotton, fill the tank, then wait 5 to 10 minutes before first use.
2
Clean regularly the clearomiser or cartridge and the drip tip to prevent residue build-up.
3
Replace the coil as soon as flavours deteriorate or vapour decreases (on average every 1 to 3 weeks depending on use), and take the opportunity to clean the entire tank.
4
Avoid leaving a full tank unused for more than 5 days, to limit leaks and flavour deterioration.

Usage and storage precautions

  • If you do not smoke, do not vape.
  • Product containing nicotine: prohibited for minors, not recommended for pregnant or breastfeeding women or people with cardiovascular disorders or high blood pressure.
  • In the event of an allergy, check for any allergens (limonene, linalool, etc.) listed on the label.
  • In case of contact with skin, rinse thoroughly with soap and water.
  • Keep your e-liquids closed, in a dry place, away from light and temperature changes, out of the reach of children and animals.

FAQ

An e-liquid (or liquid for electronic cigarettes) is the product that generates vapour when heated by the coil of an electronic cigarette. Unlike traditional cigarettes, there is no combustion. The e-liquid is made up of a base (propylene glycol and vegetable glycerin), flavourings, and optionally nicotine. It determines the taste, the throat sensation, the cloud production, and the overall vaping experience.

An e-liquid generally contains four elements:

  • propylene glycol (PG), which carries the flavours, enhances the throat hit, and provides a sensation close to that of a cigarette;
  • vegetable glycerin (VG), responsible for the vapour and the density of the cloud;
  • flavourings, which provide the taste (fruit, mint, classic tobacco, dessert, ice…);
  • nicotine, which is optional and helps manage cravings for vapers who are giving up smoking.

Some formulas also use alternative plant-based bases (Végétol) for extra smoothness.

An e-liquid with nicotine is intended for vapers who wish to replace traditional cigarettes. Nicotine acts on the sensation of satisfaction and limits cravings. E-liquids without nicotine are used either at the end of the quitting process, or purely for the pleasure of vaping, even though it is not recommended to vape if you are not a smoker. The choice of nicotine strength is essential to avoid a poor experience (irritation or cravings). The nicotine dosage depends on your previous cigarette consumption. A light smoker will not have the same needs as a heavy smoker. A strength that is too low can lead to frustration and relapse, while a strength that is too high can cause throat discomfort. The aim is to find a balance between hit, sensation, and vaping comfort, adjusting gradually as needed. A low dosage of 0, 3, or 6 mg/ml nicotine is generally recommended for light or occasional smokers (fewer than 7 cigarettes per day), and a high dosage of 20 mg/ml nicotine salt for heavy smokers (1 pack of cigarettes or more). However, this dosage can be adjusted depending on your electronic cigarette and your vaping style.

Nicotine salt is a more stable form of nicotine that is smoother to inhale. It provides rapid absorption with a less harsh throat hit, even at high strengths. Nicotine salt e-liquids are particularly well suited to beginner vapers, former heavy smokers, and low-wattage MTL kits. Nicotine salts are available in various strengths. The most well-known and effective is 20 mg/ml, which is very well suited to heavy smokers. However, a 10 mg/ml strength may suit a regular or occasional smoker perfectly well.

A nicotine booster is a concentrated nicotine bottle designed to be added to a large-format e-liquid. It allows you to adjust the final nicotine strength depending on the quantity added. Flexible and economical, this solution allows you to boost your large-format e-liquid to 3 or 6 mg/ml of nicotine. For a 50 ml e-liquid, adding one nicotine booster will give you 3 mg/ml; two nicotine boosters will bring your e-liquid to 6 mg/ml.

The propylene glycol / vegetable glycerin ratio strongly influences the vaping experience.

  • An e-liquid high in propylene glycol or PG (70/30, 80/20) enhances the throat hit, the precision of flavours, and a discreet vape. The e-liquid will be fluid and compatible only with tight-draw MTL equipment to avoid leaks.
  • An e-liquid high in vegetable glycerin or VG (30/70) produces more vapour and cloud, with a smoother, sweeter sensation. This thicker e-liquid is compatible with sub-ohm or shisha-type electronic cigarettes, producing large vapour clouds at high wattage.

The choice therefore depends on the wattage and compatibility with your electronic cigarette. If in doubt, the most common ratio remains 50/50 PG/VG. Balanced, it allows versatile use across MTL, RDL, and light DTL electronic cigarette models (between approximately 15 and 40 watts).

Plant-based or Végétol e-liquids replace traditional propylene glycol. They are often gentler on the throat, better tolerated by vapers who are sensitive to PG, and offer a smoother vape without compromising on flavour. However, they should be used in MTL with a low wattage (minimum 30 watts) to avoid the risk of leaks and to preserve the quality of the product.

Yes, CBD e-liquids are designed for vaping and generally do not contain nicotine. They offer a different experience, focused on relaxation, with no addictive effect. They should be used at moderate wattage to preserve the quality of the product. A tight-draw MTL electronic cigarette is recommended for use with them.

E-liquids are considered a far healthier alternative to smoked tobacco. They are formulated from ingredients certified as safe for health, unlike the 7,000 harmful substances found in traditional cigarettes. Nevertheless, to choose a safe e-liquid, a few precautions should be taken, such as purchasing your e-liquid from a recognised retailer like Le Vapoteur Discount, or checking the composition and origin by choosing reputable and regulated brands.

An e-liquid manufactured in France meets strict requirements and European directives regarding traceability, control, and safety. As a guarantee of quality and transparency for the consumer, French and European brands generally have their own laboratory for developing their e-liquid formula and are required to have this formulation assessed by an independent laboratory before it goes to market. These steps ensure that e-liquids are safe for vapers. French and European quality standards prohibit undesirable substances and provide a more secure framework for vaping.

To keep your e-liquid for as long as possible and preserve its quality, taste, and colour, store it in its original bottle, ideally away from light, heat, and air. Despite these precautions, the e-liquid may sometimes take on a slightly brown tint. Safe to use and fit for consumption, this colour is caused by the oxidation of nicotine and may also depend on the flavouring used in the e-liquid. It is generally advised not to keep the same e-liquid in your clearomiser or pod cartridge for more than 5 days if you are not using it, in order to avoid leaks and excessive oxidation.

The BBD (Best Before Date) or MHD (Minimum Durability Date) is an indicative date. Once the e-liquid's date has passed, it may lose its taste qualities and its appearance (colour, fluidity). An e-liquid fresh from the factory will have a BBD of approximately 2 years. Even past its BBD, the e-liquid remains safe to vaporise and will not be harmful to health.
