An empty pod cartridge is a detachable reservoir designed to hold the e-liquid of your choice. Unlike pre-filled pods, these cartridges are designed to be filled and reused multiple times, depending on the model. Filling is generally done from the bottom or top of the tank after removing the protective tab. It is advisable to wait 5 minutes after filling to allow the coil to absorb the liquid properly and avoid any burnt taste. Pods with adjustable airflow also allow you to adjust the draw to your preferences during filling.
The capacity of empty pod cartridges varies depending on the model, but the majority offer around 3 ml, which allows you to vape for several hours before needing to refill. The lifespan depends on maintenance and the type of coil, with integrated coil cartridges needing to be replaced as soon as the flavour diminishes, while coil-free pods can last longer and be reused several times.
Most empty cartridges accept all types of e-liquids, but compatibility depends on the integrated coil. Pods with coils below 1 ohm or adjustable coils can accommodate all kinds of liquids, while beginner pods (coil>1 ohm) require e-liquids with a suitable PG/VG ratio (50/50 or 70/30) to avoid leaks or poor vapour performance.
