Choosing the right 10 ml 50/50 PG/VG e-liquid
Essential for the operation of any electronic cigarette, e-liquid determines the flavour, throat hit and vapour produced. The 10 ml format is the only one permitted under European regulations (TPD) to contain nicotine, up to 20 mg/ml. Compact and easy to carry, it lets you discover a flavour, adjust your nicotine strength or vape every day.
10 mlRegulated nicotine format
50/50Balanced PG/VG ratio
MTL / RDLIndirect or semi-direct inhalation
≤ 20 mg/mlMaximum nicotine strength (TPD)
Which nicotine strength should you choose?
The right nicotine strength depends on your tobacco consumption and habits. The aim is to achieve a comfortable throat sensation (the “hit”), without irritation or cravings.
| Profile | Consumption | Suggested strength | Throat sensation |
|---|---|---|---|
| Occasional smoker | Fewer than 5 cigarettes / day | 0 to 3 mg/ml | ●○○○ Light |
| Moderate smoker | 5 to 10 cigarettes / day | 6 mg/ml | ●●○○ Moderate |
| Regular smoker | 10 to 20 cigarettes / day | 12 mg/ml | ●●●○ Pronounced |
| Heavy smoker | More than 20 cigarettes / day | 16 to 20 mg/ml | ●●●● Intense |
These guidelines are indicative: your experience, the equipment used and your inhalation style may lead you to adjust your strength. The higher the vaping power, the stronger the perceived hit: higher strengths are best vaped using mouth-to-lung inhalation (MTL). For high strengths, nicotine salts provide a gentler throat sensation. The strengths available for this e-liquid are shown in the product page selector.
The 50/50 PG/VG ratio: a versatile balance
An e-liquid consists of a propylene glycol (PG) and vegetable glycerine (VG) base, flavourings and, where applicable, nicotine. PG carries the flavours and throat hit, while VG adds smoothness and vapour volume. In equal parts, the 50/50 ratio combines both properties.

| Suitable equipment | Pods, MTL | Pods, kits, MTL and RDL clearomisers | Mods, sub-ohm (DL) |
Thanks to its fluidity, a 50/50 e-liquid properly saturates the coils in most clearomisers and pods, without being too thin for tight-draw models.
What equipment for a 50/50 e-liquid?
50/50 is compatible with the vast majority of electronic cigarettes. Here are the most suitable equipment categories and some examples available from Le Vapoteur Discount:
| Equipment | Key points | Examples |
|---|---|---|
| Electronic cigarettes | Complete kits (battery + clearomiser), with simple or adjustable settings depending on the model. | Kit Q16 Pro – Justfog Kit PockeX Pocket AIO – Aspire Kit Coolfire Z80 Zenith 2 – Innokin |
| Pods | Compact format, refillable pods and use without complex settings. | Kit Luxe XR Max 2 – Vaporesso Kit Kiwi 2 – Kiwi Vapor Kit Pixo Max – Aspire |
| Clearomisers | Choose MTL or RDL models compatible with coils from 0.4 to 1.2 Ω. | Zenith 2 – Innokin Q16 Pro Plus – Justfog GOZ+ – Innokin Z Nano 3 – GeekVape |
Recommended settings
The coil resistance value and wattage determine the draw type. With a 50/50 e-liquid, the following guidelines provide stable vaping:
| Coil | Draw type | Suggested power | Suitable nicotine strength |
|---|---|---|---|
| 1.0 to 1.2 Ω | MTL – tight draw, similar to a cigarette | 10 to 18 W | All strengths |
| 0.6 to 0.9 Ω | MTL to RDL – intermediate draw | 15 to 25 W | Up to 12 mg/ml |
| 0.4 to 0.5 Ω | RDL – semi-airy draw | 25 to 40 W | 0 to 6 mg/ml |
Always start at the lower end of the power range stated on the coil, then increase gradually. For the drip tip, a 510 tip is suitable for most uses; an 810 drip tip can be used for RDL with clearomisers designed for this format.

FAQ
An e-liquid (or electronic cigarette liquid) is the product that generates vapour when heated by the coil of an electronic cigarette. Unlike traditional cigarettes, there is no combustion. The e-liquid is made up of a base (propylene glycol and vegetable glycerine), flavourings, and optionally nicotine. It determines the taste, throat hit, cloud production, and overall vaping experience.
An e-liquid generally contains four elements:
- propylene glycol (PG), which carries the flavours, enhances the throat hit and provides a sensation close to that of a cigarette;
- vegetable glycerin (VG), responsible for vapour production and cloud density;
- flavourings, which provide the taste (fruit, mint, classic tobacco, dessert, ice…);
- nicotine, optional, which helps manage cravings for vapers who are quitting smoking.
An e-liquid with nicotine is intended for vapers who wish to replace traditional cigarettes. Nicotine acts on the feeling of satisfaction and limits cravings. E-liquids without nicotine are used either at the end of a quitting process, or purely for the pleasure of vaping, although it is not recommended to vape if you are not a smoker. Choosing the right nicotine level is essential to avoid a bad experience (throat irritation or cravings).
The nicotine dosage depends on your previous cigarette consumption. A light smoker will not have the same needs as a heavy smoker. A level that is too low can lead to frustration and relapse, whilst a level that is too high can cause throat discomfort. The aim is to find a balance between hit, sensation, and vaping comfort, adjusting gradually as needed.
A low dosage of 0, 3 or 6 mg/ml of nicotine is generally recommended for light smokers or occasional smokers (fewer than 7 cigarettes per day), and a high dosage of 20 mg/ml of nicotine salts for heavy smokers (1 packet of cigarettes or more). However, this dosage can be adjusted depending on your e-cigarette and your vaping style.
Nicotine salt is a more stable form of nicotine that is smoother to inhale. It provides rapid absorption, with a less harsh throat hit, even at high strengths. Nicotine salt e-liquids are particularly suited to beginner vapers, former heavy smokers, and low-wattage MTL kits.
There are different nicotine salt strengths. The most well-known and effective being 20 mg/ml, which is very well suited to heavy smokers. However, a 10 mg/ml strength can work very well for a regular or occasional smoker.
A nicotine booster is a nicotine-concentrated bottle designed to be added to a large-format e-liquid. It allows you to adjust the final nicotine level depending on the quantity added. Flexible and cost-effective, this solution lets you boost your large-format e-liquid to 3 or 6 mg/ml of nicotine. For a 50 ml e-liquid, adding one nicotine booster will give you 3 mg/ml, while two nicotine boosters will turn your e-liquid into 6 mg/ml.
The propylene glycol / vegetable glycerin ratio strongly influences the vape.
- An e-liquid rich in propylene glycol or PG (70/30, 80/20) enhances the throat hit, flavour accuracy and a discreet vape. The e-liquid will be thin and compatible only with MTL devices with a tight draw to avoid leaks.
- An e-liquid rich in vegetable glycerin or VG (30/70) produces more vapour and clouds, with a smoother, sweeter sensation. This thicker e-liquid will be compatible with sub-ohm or hookah-style e-cigarettes, producing large vapour clouds at high wattage.
E-liquids with a vegetable base or Végétol replace traditional propylene glycol. They are often gentler on the throat, better tolerated by certain vapers sensitive to PG, and offer a smoother vape without compromising on flavour. However, they should be used in MTL with a low wattage (minimum 30 watts) to avoid the risk of leaks and preserve the quality of the product.
Yes, CBD e-liquids are designed for vaping and generally do not contain nicotine. They offer a different sensation, focused on relaxation, without any addictive effect. They should be used at a moderate wattage to preserve the quality of the product. A tight-draw MTL e-cigarette is recommended for use with them.
E-liquids are considered a much healthier alternative to smoked tobacco. They are formulated from ingredients certified as safe for health, unlike the 7,000 harmful substances found in traditional cigarettes. Nevertheless, to choose a safe e-liquid, a few precautions should be taken, such as purchasing your e-liquid from a recognised retailer like Le Vapoteur Discount, or checking the composition and origin by favouring reputable and regulated brands.
An e-liquid manufactured in France meets strict requirements and European directives regarding traceability, control, and safety. As a mark of quality and transparency for the consumer, French and European brands generally have their own laboratory for developing their e-liquid formulas and are required to have this formulation studied by an independent laboratory before going to market. All these steps guarantee e-liquids that are safe for vapers. These French and European quality standards prohibit undesirable substances and provide a more secure framework for vaping.
To keep your e-liquid as long as possible and preserve its quality, taste and colour, you should keep it in its original bottle and ideally away from light, heat and air. Despite these precautions, it can happen that the e-liquid takes on a slightly brown tint. Safe and suitable for consumption, this colour is due to the oxidation of nicotine and can also depend on the flavouring used in the e-liquid. It is generally recommended not to keep the same e-liquid for more than 5 days in your clearomiser or pod cartridge if you are not using it, to avoid leaks and excessive oxidation.
The DLUO (Date Limite d'Utilisation Optimale) or BBD (Best Before Date) is an indicative date. Once the e-liquid's date has passed, it may lose its taste qualities and appearance (colour, fluidity). An e-liquid straight from the factory will have a BBD of approximately 2 years. Even past the BBD, the e-liquid remains suitable for vaping and will not be harmful to health.
