Choosing the right 10 ml 50/50 PG/VG e-liquid

Essential for the operation of any electronic cigarette, e-liquid determines the flavour, throat sensation and vapour produced. The 10 ml format is the only one authorised by European regulations (TPD) to contain nicotine, up to 20 mg/ml. Compact and easy to carry, it lets you discover a flavour, adjust your nicotine strength or vape every day.

10 mlRegulated nicotine format
50/50Balanced PG/VG ratio
MTL / RDLIndirect or semi-direct inhalation
≤ 20 mg/mlMaximum nicotine strength (TPD)

Which nicotine strength should you choose?

The right nicotine strength depends on your tobacco consumption and habits. The aim: to achieve a comfortable throat sensation (the “hit”), without irritation or cravings.

Profile Consumption Recommended strength Throat sensation
Occasional smoker Fewer than 5 cigarettes / day 0 to 3 mg/ml ●○○○ Light
Moderate smoker 5 to 10 cigarettes / day 6 mg/ml ●●○○ Moderate
Regular smoker 10 to 20 cigarettes / day 12 mg/ml ●●●○ Pronounced
Heavy smoker More than 20 cigarettes / day 16 to 20 mg/ml ●●●● Intense

These guidelines are indicative: your experience, the equipment used and your inhalation style may lead you to adjust your strength. The higher the vaping power, the stronger the hit: high strengths are best vaped using indirect inhalation (MTL). For high strengths, nicotine salts provide a gentler throat sensation. The strengths available for this e-liquid are shown in the product page selector.

The 50/50 PG/VG ratio: a versatile balance

An e-liquid consists of a base of propylene glycol (PG) and vegetable glycerine (VG), flavourings and, where applicable, nicotine. PG carries flavours and the throat hit, while VG provides smoothness and vapour volume. In equal parts, the 50/50 ratio combines both properties.

Suitable equipment Pods, MTL Pods, kits, MTL and RDL clearomisers Box mods, sub-ohm (DL)

Thanks to its fluidity, a 50/50 e-liquid properly saturates the coils of most clearomisers and pods, without being too thin for tight-draw models.

Which equipment for a 50/50 e-liquid?

50/50 is compatible with the vast majority of electronic cigarettes. Here are the most suitable equipment categories and a few examples available from Le Vapoteur Discount:

Equipment Key features Examples
Electronic cigarettes Complete kits (battery + clearomiser), with simple or adjustable settings depending on the model. Kit Q16 Pro – Justfog
Kit PockeX Pocket AIO – Aspire
Kit Coolfire Z80 Zenith 2 – Innokin
Pods Compact format, refillable cartridges, use without complex settings. Kit Luxe XR Max 2 – Vaporesso
Kit Kiwi 2 – Kiwi Vapor
Kit Pixo Max – Aspire
Clearomisers Choose MTL or RDL models compatible with coils from 0.4 to 1.2 Ω. Zenith 2 – Innokin
Q16 Pro Plus – Justfog
GOZ+ – Innokin
Z Nano 3 – GeekVape

Recommended settings

The coil resistance value and power determine the draw type. With a 50/50 e-liquid, the following guidelines provide stable vaping:

Coil Draw type Recommended power Suitable nicotine strength
1.0 to 1.2 Ω MTL – tight draw, similar to a cigarette 10 to 18 W All strengths
0.6 to 0.9 Ω MTL to RDL – intermediate draw 15 to 25 W Up to 12 mg/ml
0.4 to 0.5 Ω RDL – semi-airy draw 25 to 40 W 0 to 6 mg/ml

Always start at the bottom of the power range shown on the coil, then increase gradually. For the drip tip, a 510 mouthpiece suits most uses; an 810 drip tip can be used for RDL with clearomisers designed for this format.

Maintaining your electronic cigarette

1
Prime every new coil: place a few drops of e-liquid on the cotton, fill the tank, then wait 5 to 10 minutes before first use.
2
Clean regularly the clearomiser or cartridge and the drip tip to prevent residue build-up.
3
Replace the coil as soon as flavours deteriorate or vapour decreases (on average every 1 to 3 weeks depending on use), and take the opportunity to clean the tank completely.
4
Avoid leaving a filled tank unused for more than 5 days to limit leaks and flavour deterioration.

Use and storage precautions

  • If you do not smoke, do not vape.
  • Product containing nicotine: prohibited for minors; not recommended for pregnant or breastfeeding women and people with cardiovascular conditions or high blood pressure.
  • In case of allergies, check for any allergens (limonene, linalool, etc.) listed on the label.
  • In case of skin contact, rinse thoroughly with soap and water.
  • Keep your e-liquids closed, in a dry place away from light and temperature variations, out of the reach of children and animals.

Remember to recycle: empty bottles should be taken to suitable collection points.

FAQ

An e-liquid (or liquid for electronic cigarette) is the product that generates vapour when heated by the coil of an electronic cigarette. Unlike traditional cigarettes, there is no combustion. The e-liquid is composed of a base (propylene glycol and vegetable glycerine), flavourings, and optionally nicotine. It is what determines the taste, the throat hit, the cloud production, and the overall vaping experience.

An e-liquid generally contains four elements:
  • propylene glycol (PG), which carries the flavourings, enhances the throat hit and provides a sensation close to that of a cigarette;
  • vegetable glycerin (VG), responsible for the vapour and the density of the cloud;
  • the flavourings, which give the taste (fruit, mint, classic tobacco, gourmet, ice…) ;
  • nicotine, optional, which helps manage cravings for vapers who are quitting smoking.
Some formulas also use alternative plant-based bases (Végétol) for a smoother experience.

An e-liquid with nicotine is intended for vapers who wish to replace traditional cigarettes. Nicotine acts on the feeling of satisfaction and limits cravings. Nicotine-free e-liquids are used either at the end of a cessation programme, or purely for the pleasure of vaping, although it is not recommended to vape if you are not a smoker. Choosing the right nicotine level is essential to avoid a poor experience (throat irritation or cravings). The nicotine dosage depends on your previous cigarette consumption. A light smoker will not have the same needs as a heavy smoker. A level that is too low can lead to frustration and relapse, while a level that is too high can cause throat discomfort. The aim is to find the right balance between hit, sensation and vaping comfort, adjusting gradually as needed. We generally recommend a low dosage of 0, 3 or 6 mg/ml of nicotine for light smokers or occasional smokers (fewer than 7 cigarettes per day), and a high dosage of 20 mg/ml of nicotine salt for heavy smokers (1 packet of cigarettes or more). However, this dosage can be adjusted according to your e-cigarette and your vaping style.

Nicotine salt is a more stable and smoother form of nicotine to inhale. It provides rapid absorption, with a less harsh throat hit, even at high strengths. Nicotine salt e-liquids are particularly suited to beginner vapers, former heavy smokers, and low-wattage MTL kits. There are different nicotine salt strengths. The most well-known and effective being 20 mg/ml, highly suitable for heavy smokers. However, a 10 mg/ml strength can be perfectly suitable for a regular or occasional smoker.

A nicotine booster is a concentrated nicotine bottle, designed to be added to a large-format e-liquid. It allows you to adjust the final nicotine level according to the quantity added. Flexible and economical, this solution allows you to boost your large-format e-liquid to 3 or 6 mg/ml of nicotine. For a 50 ml e-liquid, adding one nicotine booster will give you 3 mg/ml, while two nicotine boosters will turn your e-liquid into 6 mg/ml.

The propylene glycol / vegetable glycerin ratio strongly influences the vaping experience.
  • An e-liquid rich in propylene glycol or PG (70/30, 80/20) enhances the throat hit, flavour accuracy and a discreet vape. The e-liquid will be thin and only compatible with MTL devices with a tight draw to avoid leaks.
  • An e-liquid rich in vegetable glycerin or VG (30/70) produces more vapour and cloud, with a smoother, sweeter sensation. This thicker e-liquid will be compatible with sub-ohm or shisha-type e-cigarettes, producing large vapour clouds at high wattage.
The choice therefore depends on the power and compatibility with your e-cigarette. If in doubt, the most common ratio remains 50/50 PG/VG. Balanced, it allows versatile use on MTL, RDL and light DTL e-cigarette models (between approximately 15 and 40 watts).

E-liquids with a vegetable base or Végétol replace traditional propylene glycol. They are often gentler on the throat, better tolerated by vapers who are sensitive to PG, and offer a smoother vape without compromising on flavour. However, they should be used in MTL with a low wattage (minimum 30 watts) to avoid the risk of leaks and preserve the quality of the product.

Yes, CBD e-liquids are designed for vaping and generally contain no nicotine. They offer a different sensation, focused on relaxation, with no addictive effect. They should be used at moderate power to preserve the quality of the product. A MTL electronic cigarette with a tight draw is recommended.

E-liquids are considered a much healthier alternative to smoked tobacco. They are formulated from ingredients certified as safe for health, unlike the 7,000 harmful substances found in traditional cigarettes. Nevertheless, to choose a safe e-liquid, a few precautions should be taken, such as buying your e-liquid from a recognised retailer like Le Vapoteur Discount or checking the composition and origin by favouring reputable and regulated brands.

An e-liquid manufactured in France meets strict requirements and European directives regarding traceability, control and safety. As a guarantee of quality and transparency for the consumer, French and European brands generally have their own laboratory for developing their e-liquid formula and are obliged to have this formulation studied by an independent laboratory before placing it on the market. All these steps ensure that e-liquids are safe for vapers. These French and European quality standards prohibit undesirable substances and provide a more secure framework for vaping.

To preserve your e-liquid for as long as possible and maintain its quality, taste and colour, keep it in its original bottle and ideally away from light, heat and air. Despite these precautions, the e-liquid may sometimes take on a slightly brown tint. Safe and suitable for consumption, this colour is due to the oxidation of nicotine and may also depend on the flavouring used in the e-liquid. It is generally recommended not to keep the same e-liquid for more than 5 days in your clearomiser or pod cartridge if you are not using it, to avoid leaks and excessive oxidation.

The DLUO (Date Limite d'Utilisation Optimale) or BBD (Best Before Date) is an indicative date. Once the e-liquid's date has passed, it may lose its taste qualities and its appearance (colour, fluidity). An e-liquid straight from the factory will have a BBD of approximately 2 years. Even past the BBD, the e-liquid remains suitable for vaping and will not be harmful to health.
