The Le Vapoteur Discount guide to choosing your 10 ml e-liquid
Essential to any e-cigarette, the e-liquid is the heart of your vaping experience. The 10 ml format is currently the only one authorised to contain nicotine under European regulations. Compact, practical and easy to carry, it allows you to try a flavour, adjust your nicotine level or vape on a daily basis with ease.
It is also the ideal format to support a smoking reduction or cessation journey, at your own pace.
What nicotine level should you choose for your e-liquid?
The right nicotine level depends above all on your smoker profile and your habits. The goal is to satisfy the craving without discomfort, while maintaining an enjoyable vape.
-
Light smoker (fewer than 5 cigarettes per day)
0 to 6 mg/ml
A gentle dosage, sufficient to curb the urge to smoke while offering a light throat sensation. -
Moderate smoker (5 to 15 cigarettes per day)
6 to 12 mg/ml
An ideal balance to replicate a sensation close to a regular cigarette, without frustration. -
Heavy smoker (more than 15 cigarettes per day)
12 to 18 mg/ml
A higher level, designed to meet a significant nicotine need, particularly at the start of withdrawal. -
Very heavy smoker (more than 20 cigarettes per day)
18 to 20 mg/ml
The maximum permitted dosage, often associated with nicotine salts, for faster absorption and a smoother sensation.
These indications are guidelines only: every vaper is unique. Your personal experience, throat hit, and the equipment you use may lead you to adjust your dosage.
Choosing the right equipment for a vegetable glycerin VG-rich e-liquid (30/70 and 20/80)
E-liquids with a dominant vegetable glycerin (VG) base stand out for their thicker texture and their ability to produce dense and generous vapour. They offer a smoother throat sensation and are particularly appreciated by vapers who enjoy direct lung (DL) vaping and large clouds.
E-cigarette
Due to their high viscosity, these e-liquids require powerful subohm e-cigarettes, such as:
- GeekVape Aegis Legend 5 Kit: an indestructible dual-battery box equipped with the Zeus Subohm clearomizer;
- Vaporesso Gen Max Kit: a timeless design with dual 18650 batteries;
- Vaporesso Armour Ultra Kit: the indestructible new release of 2025, equipped with a 5500 mAh battery and the iTank T;
- Voopoo Spark 220 Kit: a luminous design with a UForce-X clearomizer, winner of VapExpo 2025.
Pods
- Voopoo Doric 60 Pro Kit: a tube format with PNP-X coils in 0.3 and 0.2 Ohm;
- Vaporesso Luxe XR Max 2 Kit: with GTX Dual Mesh coils in 0.2 ohm;
- Voopoo Drag X3 Kit: the latest Drag generation from Voopoo with excellent subohm performance.
Clearomizers
For optimal e-liquid feed and to avoid dry hits, it is recommended to use subohm clearomizers, designed for thick liquids:
- GeekVape Zeus Clearomizer: a must-have and timeless classic with its Z Coils;
- GeekVape Z SubOhm 5 Clearomizer: the 2026 version of the star subohm clearomizer;
- Vaporesso iTank T Dual Mesh Clearomizer: the must-have subohm according to Vaporesso;
- Voopoo UForce-X Clearomizer: the winner of VapExpo 2025.
Coils
Low coils, ranging from 0.15 ohm to 0.4 ohm, are ideal for effectively vaporising a VG-rich e-liquid.
Drip tip
A wide drip tip in 810 format is recommended to facilitate direct inhalation and the passage of a large volume of vapour.
Power setting
VG-rich e-liquids perform best at high wattage.
Vaping above 40 watts is recommended, while of course following the coil manufacturer's guidelines.
Taking care of your e-cigarette
Regular maintenance is essential to ensure a healthy, flavourful and long-lasting vape:
- Regularly clean the clearomizer and drip tip to prevent residue build-up;
- Replace the coil as soon as flavours deteriorate or vapour production decreases (on average every 2 to 3 weeks), and take the opportunity to thoroughly clean your clearomizer;
- Avoid leaving a tank filled with the same e-liquid for more than 5 days without use, to limit the risk of leaks or flavour degradation.
Usage precautions
- If you do not smoke, do not vape;
- Product containing nicotine: prohibited for minors, not recommended for pregnant women or people with cardiovascular disorders or hypertension;
- In case of allergies, check for the possible presence of allergens (limonene, tree nuts, etc.) indicated on the label;
- If contact with skin occurs, rinse thoroughly with water and soap;
- Store your e-liquids in a dry place, away from light and temperature fluctuations, out of reach of children and animals.
Think recycling: empty bottles must be disposed of through appropriate channels.

FAQ
An e-liquid (or electronic cigarette liquid) is the product that generates vapour when heated by the coil of an electronic cigarette. Unlike traditional cigarettes, there is no combustion. The e-liquid is composed of a base (propylene glycol and vegetable glycerine), flavourings, and optionally nicotine. It determines the taste, the throat hit, the cloud production, and the overall vaping experience.
An e-liquid generally contains four elements:
- propylene glycol (PG), which carries the flavours, enhances the throat hit and provides a sensation close to that of a cigarette;
- vegetable glycerin (VG), responsible for the vapour and the density of the cloud;
- flavourings, which give the taste (fruit, mint, classic tobacco, dessert, ice…);
- nicotine, optional, which helps manage cravings in vapers who are quitting.
An e-liquid with nicotine is intended for vapers who want to replace the traditional cigarette. Nicotine acts on the feeling of satisfaction and limits cravings. E-liquids without nicotine are used either at the end of a quitting process, or purely for the pleasure of vaping, although it is not recommended to vape if you are not a smoker. Choosing the right nicotine level is essential to avoid a bad experience (throat irritation or cravings).
The nicotine dosage depends on your previous cigarette consumption. A light smoker will not have the same needs as a heavy smoker. A level that is too low can lead to frustration and relapse, while a level that is too high can cause throat discomfort. The goal is to find a balance between throat hit, sensation and vaping comfort, adjusting gradually as needed.
A low dosage of 0, 3 or 6 mg/ml of nicotine is generally recommended for light smokers or occasional smokers (fewer than 7 cigarettes per day), and a high dosage of 20 mg/ml of nicotine salt for heavy smokers (1 packet of cigarettes or more). However, this dosage can be adjusted depending on your e-cigarette and your vaping style.
Nicotine salt is a more stable form of nicotine that is smoother to inhale. It provides rapid absorption, with a less harsh throat hit, even at high strengths. Nicotine salt e-liquids are particularly suited to beginner vapers, former heavy smokers, and low-wattage MTL kits.
There are various nicotine salt strengths available. The most well-known and effective being 20 mg/ml, which is highly suitable for heavy smokers. However, a 10 mg/ml strength can work very well for a regular or occasional smoker.
A nicotine booster is a concentrated nicotine bottle, designed to be added to a large-format e-liquid. It allows you to adjust the final nicotine level according to the quantity added. Flexible and economical, this solution allows you to boost your large-format e-liquid to 3 or 6 mg/ml of nicotine. For a 50 ml e-liquid, adding one nicotine booster will achieve 3 mg/ml, while two nicotine boosters will transform your e-liquid into 6 mg/ml.
The propylene glycol / vegetable glycerin ratio has a strong influence on the vape.
- An e-liquid rich in propylene glycol or PG (70/30, 80/20) enhances the throat hit, flavour precision and a discreet vape. The e-liquid will be thin and only compatible with MTL devices with a tight draw to avoid leaks.
- An e-liquid rich in vegetable glycerin or VG (30/70) produces more vapour and clouds, with a smoother, sweeter sensation. This thicker e-liquid will be compatible with sub-ohm or shisha-type electronic cigarettes, producing large clouds of vapour at high wattage.
E-liquids with a vegetable base or Végétol replace traditional propylene glycol. They are often gentler on the throat, better tolerated by vapers who are sensitive to PG, and offer a smoother vape without compromising on flavour. However, they should be used in MTL with a low wattage (minimum 30 watts) to avoid the risk of leaks and preserve the quality of the product.
Yes, CBD e-liquids are designed for vaping and generally do not contain nicotine. They offer a different sensation, focused on relaxation, without any addictive effect. They should be used at moderate wattage to preserve the quality of the product. We recommend using a tight draw MTL electronic cigarette with them.
E-liquids are considered a much healthier alternative to smoked tobacco. They are formulated from ingredients certified as safe for health, unlike the 7,000 harmful substances found in traditional cigarettes. Nevertheless, to choose a safe e-liquid, a few precautions should be taken, such as buying your e-liquid from a recognised retailer like Le Vapoteur Discount, or checking the composition and origin by favouring reputable and regulated brands.
An e-liquid manufactured in France meets strict requirements and European directives regarding traceability, control, and safety. As a guarantee of quality and transparency for the consumer, French and European brands generally have their own laboratory for developing their e-liquid formula and are required to have this formulation studied by an independent laboratory before bringing it to market. All these steps ensure that e-liquids are safe for vapers. These French and European quality standards prohibit undesirable substances and provide a more secure framework for vaping.
To keep your e-liquid as long as possible and preserve its quality, taste and colour, you should keep it in its original bottle and ideally away from light, heat and air. Despite these precautions, it can happen that the e-liquid takes on a slightly brown tint. Safe and fit for consumption, this colour is due to the oxidation of nicotine and can also depend on the flavouring used in the e-liquid. It is generally recommended not to keep the same e-liquid for more than 5 days in your clearomiser or pod cartridge if you are not using it, to avoid leaks and excessive oxidation.
The DLUO (Date Limite d'Utilisation Optimale) or BBD (Best Before Date) is an indicative date. Once the e-liquid's date has passed, it may lose its taste qualities and appearance (colour, fluidity). An e-liquid straight from the factory will have a BBD of approximately 2 years. Even past its BBD, the e-liquid remains suitable for vaping and will not be harmful to health.
