The benefits of a flavour concentrate for DIY

DIY flavour concentrates give you the freedom to create your own blends at great value for money. By mixing your own e-liquid, you can achieve personalised flavours tailored to your tastes, while controlling the nicotine dosage.

It is also a more economical solution: a single bottle of flavour concentrate can be used to prepare several tens of millilitres of e-liquid, at a lower cost than ready-to-vape e-liquids.

For demanding vaping enthusiasts, DIY is therefore a cost-effective experience.

Required equipment

In order to create your own DIY e-liquid, you will need:

• A flavour concentrate for DIY;
• A neutral PG/VG base (with or without nicotine);
• An additive (optional);
• One or more empty bottles to transport your mixes;
• A pipette or a graduated bottle;
• Latex gloves and safety glasses if you need to handle nicotine.

Before any handling, make sure to work on a clean, washed surface out of reach of children and animals.

DIY flavour concentrate dosage

A flavour concentrate must be diluted in a PG/VG base and cannot be vaped on its own.

Depending on the manufacturer, a DIY flavour concentrate has a different dilution rate, always expressed as a percentage: 4%, 10%, 15%, 20%, 25%.

Concretely, in our 200 ml DIY Pack in 50/50 PG/VG, this would give:

• 4% of the total volume in a 50/50 PG/VG base = 8 ml of flavour concentrate to add to your 200 ml base
• 10% of the total volume in a 50/50 PG/VG base = 20 ml of flavour concentrate to add to your 200 ml base
• 15% of the total volume in a 50/50 PG/VG base = 30 ml of flavour concentrate to add to your 200 ml base
• 20% of the total volume in a 50/50 PG/VG base = 40 ml of flavour concentrate to add to your 200 ml base
• 25% of the total volume in a 50/50 PG/VG base = 50 ml of flavour concentrate to add to your 200 ml base

In a 70/30 base:

If your neutral base contains more propylene glycol (a flavour enhancer), we recommend reducing the dosage of your concentrate (from 15 to a minimum of 12%).

In a 30/70 base:

If your neutral base contains more vegetable glycerin (which reduces flavour intensity), we recommend adding a little more concentrate to your mix (from 15 to 17%).

Steeping

Leave your e-liquid to rest for a few days to a few weeks so that the flavours develop fully. Some flavour concentrates require more steeping time than others:

• Simple fruit flavour concentrates: 0 to 5 days;
• Complex fruit flavour concentrates (raspberry, orange, apple, blackberry, watermelon, dragon fruit...): 5 to 7 days;
• Menthol, spiced, vanilla or anise flavour concentrates: 10 to 15 days;
• Dessert flavour concentrates: 15 to 20 days;
• Classic flavour concentrates: approximately 15 days.

After the steeping period, test your liquid. You can adjust the flavour by adding base to reduce it or by adding more concentrate to strengthen it, if necessary.

Storage

To preserve all the qualities of your DIY e-liquid:

• Store it in a dry place, away from light and heat;
• Note the manufacturing date and ingredients on each bottle;
• Always store your preparations out of reach of children and animals.
