How to use DIY flavour concentrate

A flavour concentrate is an ingredient used to make your own e-liquid, or DIY (« Do It Yourself »). It must never be vaped neat: it must be diluted in a neutral base of propylene glycol (PG) and vegetable glycerine (VG), with or without nicotine. DIY lets you freely choose the flavour, PG/VG ratio and nicotine strength of your e-liquid.

Required equipment

A DIY flavour concentrate, with the dosage stated by the manufacturer.

A neutral PG/VG base, with or without nicotine, or nicotine boosters to adjust the strength.

Empty bottles and a graduated bottle, plus a syringe or pipette for precise dosing, available in the DIY accessories section.

Protective gloves and goggles if handling nicotine.

Work on a clean surface, out of reach of children and pets.

The Le Vapoteur Discount 200 ml DIY Pack

The DIY Pack provides 200 ml of 50/50 PG/VG nicotine base in a 250 ml graduated bottle, leaving 50 ml of free space to add flavour concentrate. The bottle graduations allow you to dose the flavour without a syringe or pipette. It is available in a neutral or cool version, in 3, 6, 9 or 12 mg/ml:

How do you dose DIY flavour concentrate?

Dosage is expressed as a percentage of the final volume and varies according to the manufacturer: it is stated on the label or product sheet for each flavour.

Flavour volume required according to the recommended dosage and final e-liquid volume, and quantity to add to the 200 ml base in the DIY Pack:

The 50 ml of free space in the DIY Pack accommodates flavour dosed at up to 20%. The base ratio also affects the result: in a PG-rich base (70/30 or 80/20), which enhances flavours, the dosage can be reduced by a few percentage points; in a VG-rich base (30/70), which softens them, it can be slightly increased. Preparation steps

Pour in the base into a graduated bottle, leaving sufficient space for the flavour and any boosters.

Add the flavour following the dosage recommended by the manufacturer, then add nicotine boosters if required.

Close and shake vigorously to blend the mixture evenly.

Leave to steep away from light, opening the bottle from time to time for a few minutes to air it.

Taste and adjust: add a little base to soften the flavour, or flavour to intensify it.

Steeping

The resting time allows the flavours to blend and develop. It depends on the type of flavour:

These times are indicative: some flavours are ready to vape as soon as they are mixed, while others benefit from resting longer. Note the preparation date on each bottle.

Precautions for use and storage

A flavour concentrate must never be vaped neat: it must always be diluted in a PG/VG base.
Nicotine boosters must be handled with gloves; in the event of skin contact, rinse thoroughly with soap and water.
Products prohibited for minors. Once nicotine has been added, e-liquid is not recommended for pregnant or breastfeeding women or people with cardiovascular disorders or high blood pressure.
In the event of an allergy, check for any allergens indicated on the flavour label.
Store flavours, bases and preparations closed, in a dry place away from light and heat, out of reach of children and pets. Note the manufacturing date and ingredients on each bottle.

Remember to recycle: empty bottles should be taken to suitable collection points.
