The Le Vapoteur Discount guide to choosing your 10 ml e-liquid

Essential to any electronic cigarette, e-liquid is the heart of your vaping experience. The 10 ml format is currently the only one authorized to contain nicotine under European regulations. Compact, practical, and easy to carry, it allows you to try a flavor, adjust your nicotine level, or vape daily with ease.
It is also the ideal format to support a tobacco reduction or cessation journey, at your own pace.

What nicotine level should you choose for your e-liquid?

The right nicotine level depends above all on your smoker profile and your habits. The goal is to satisfy the craving without discomfort, while maintaining an enjoyable vape.

  • Light smoker (fewer than 5 cigarettes per day)
    0 to 6 mg/ml
    A mild dosage, sufficient to curb the urge to smoke while providing a light throat sensation.

  • Moderate smoker (5 to 15 cigarettes per day)
    6 to 12 mg/ml
    An ideal balance to rediscover a sensation close to a classic cigarette, without frustration.

  • Intense smoker (more than 15 cigarettes per day)
    12 to 18 mg/ml
    A higher level, designed to meet a significant nicotine need, especially at the start of quitting.

  • Heavy smoker (more than 20 cigarettes per day)
    18 to 20 mg/ml
    The maximum permitted dosage, often associated with nicotine salts, for faster absorption and a smoother sensation.

These indications are only guidelines: every vaper is unique. Your personal experience, the throat hit, and the equipment used may lead you to adjust your dosage.

What equipment should you use with a fluid e-liquid rich in PG (80/20 to 60/40)?

Thanks to their high propylene glycol content, these e-liquids are fluid, highly aromatic and deliver a pronounced throat hit. They are perfectly suited for indirect (MTL) vaping, close to the sensation of a cigarette.

Electronic cigarette

PG-rich e-liquids perform best on compact devices focused on flavor delivery, such as:

Pods

They also work very well with high-performance pods that are easy to use:

Clearomizers

For optimal flavor delivery, prefer MTL-oriented clearomizers, such as:

Coils

Ideally, small coils ranging between 1.2 ohm and 1.8 ohm are preferred, for a smooth, economical, and flavorful vape.

Drip tip mouthpiece

A drip tip 510, slim and elongated, is recommended to concentrate the aromas and enhance the sensation in the mouth.

What vaping wattage should you use?

PG-rich e-liquids do not require high wattage.
A vape below 20 watts is more than sufficient to fully enjoy the flavors, while preserving coil life.

Taking care of your electronic cigarette

Regular maintenance is essential to ensure a healthy, flavorful, and long-lasting vape:

  • Regularly clean the clearomizer and the drip tip to avoid the build-up of residue ;
  • Replace the coil as soon as flavors deteriorate or vapor decreases (on average every 2 to 3 weeks) and take the opportunity to thoroughly clean your clearomizer ;
  • Avoid leaving a tank filled with the same e-liquid for more than 5 days without use, in order to limit the risk of leaks or flavor deterioration.

Usage precautions

  • If you do not smoke, do not vape ;
  • Product containing nicotine: prohibited for minors, not recommended for pregnant women and people with cardiovascular disorders or hypertension ;
  • In case of allergies, check for the possible presence of allergens (limonene, tree nuts, etc.) indicated on the label ;
  • In case of skin contact, rinse thoroughly with water and soap ;
  • Store your e-liquids in a dry place, away from light and temperature fluctuations, out of reach of children and animals.

Think about recycling: empty bottles must be disposed of through appropriate channels.

FAQ

An e-liquid (or electronic cigarette liquid) is the product that generates vapour when heated by the coil of an electronic cigarette. Unlike traditional cigarettes, there is no combustion. The e-liquid is made up of a base (propylene glycol and vegetable glycerin), flavourings, and optionally nicotine. It determines the taste, the throat hit, the cloud production, and the overall vaping experience.

An e-liquid generally contains four elements:

  • propylene glycol (PG), which carries the flavours, enhances the throat hit, and provides a sensation close to that of a cigarette;
  • vegetable glycerine (VG), responsible for vapour production and cloud density;
  • flavourings, which give the taste (fruit, mint, classic tobacco, dessert, ice…);
  • nicotine, optional, which helps manage cravings in vapers who are quitting.

Some formulas also use alternative plant-based bases (Végétol) for extra smoothness.

An e-liquid with nicotine is intended for vapers who wish to replace the traditional cigarette. Nicotine acts on the sensation of satisfaction and helps manage cravings. E-liquids without nicotine are used either at the end of a quitting process, or purely for the pleasure of vaping, even though vaping is not recommended if you are not a smoker. Choosing the right nicotine level is essential to avoid a poor experience (irritation or cravings). The nicotine dosage depends on your previous cigarette consumption. A light smoker will not have the same needs as a heavy smoker. A level that is too low can lead to frustration and relapse, while a level that is too high can cause throat discomfort. The goal is to find a balance between throat hit, sensation, and vaping comfort, adjusting gradually as needed. A low dosage of 0, 3, or 6 mg/ml of nicotine is generally recommended for light or occasional smokers (fewer than 7 cigarettes per day), and a high dosage of 20 mg/ml of nicotine salt for heavy smokers (a packet of cigarettes or more). However, this dosage can be adjusted depending on your e-cigarette and your vaping style.

Nicotine salt is a more stable form of nicotine that is gentler on inhalation. It provides rapid absorption with a less harsh throat hit, even at high strengths. Nicotine salt e-liquids are particularly suited to beginner vapers, former heavy smokers, and low-powered MTL kits. Various nicotine salt strengths are available. The most well-known and effective is 20 mg/ml, which is well suited to heavy smokers. However, a 10 mg/ml strength may be perfectly suitable for a regular or occasional smoker.

A nicotine booster is a concentrated nicotine bottle designed to be added to a large-format e-liquid. It allows you to adjust the final nicotine level depending on the quantity added. Flexible and cost-effective, this solution lets you boost your large-format e-liquid to 3 or 6 mg/ml of nicotine. For a 50 ml e-liquid, adding one nicotine booster will give you 3 mg/ml, while two nicotine boosters will bring your e-liquid up to 6 mg/ml.

The propylene glycol / vegetable glycerine ratio strongly influences the vaping experience.

  • An e-liquid high in propylene glycol or PG (70/30, 80/20) enhances the throat hit, flavour precision, and a discreet vape. The e-liquid will be fluid and only compatible with MTL equipment with a tight draw to avoid leaks.
  • An e-liquid high in vegetable glycerine or VG (30/70) produces more vapour and cloud, with a softer, sweeter sensation. This thicker e-liquid is compatible with sub-ohm or shisha-style e-cigarettes, producing large vapour clouds at high wattage.

The choice therefore depends on the wattage and compatibility with your e-cigarette. If in doubt, the most common ratio remains 50/50 PG/VG. Balanced, it allows versatile use across MTL, RDL, and light DTL e-cigarette models (approximately between 15 and 40 watts).

Plant-based or Végétol e-liquids replace traditional propylene glycol. They are often gentler on the throat, better tolerated by vapers who are sensitive to PG, and offer a smoother vaping experience without compromising on flavour. However, they should be used in MTL mode at a low wattage (minimum 30 watts) to avoid leakage and preserve product quality.

Yes, CBD e-liquids are designed for vaping and generally contain no nicotine. They offer a different sensation, focused on relaxation, without any addictive effect. They should be used at moderate wattage to preserve product quality. A tight-draw MTL e-cigarette is recommended for use with them.

E-liquids are considered a far healthier alternative to smoked tobacco. They are formulated from ingredients certified as safe for health, unlike the 7,000 harmful substances found in traditional cigarettes. Nevertheless, to choose a safe e-liquid, a few precautions should be taken, such as purchasing your e-liquid from a recognised retailer such as Le Vapoteur Discount, or checking the composition and origin by favouring reputable and regulated brands.

An e-liquid manufactured in France meets strict requirements and European directives regarding traceability, quality control, and safety. As a guarantee of quality and transparency for the consumer, French and European brands generally have their own laboratory for developing their e-liquid formula and are required to have this formulation reviewed by an independent laboratory before bringing it to market. These steps ensure that e-liquids are safe for vapers. French and European quality standards prohibit undesirable substances and provide a more secure framework for vaping.

To keep your e-liquid for as long as possible and preserve its quality, taste, and colour, store it in its original bottle, ideally away from light, heat, and air. Despite these precautions, the e-liquid may take on a slightly brown tint. Harmless and safe to use, this colour is due to the oxidation of nicotine and may also depend on the flavouring used in the e-liquid. It is generally advised not to keep the same e-liquid in your clearomiser or pod cartridge for more than 5 days if you are not using it, to avoid leaks and excessive oxidation.

The BBD (Best Before Date) or MHD (Minimum Durability Date) is an indicative date. Once the e-liquid's date has passed, it may lose its taste qualities and appearance (colour, fluidity). A factory-fresh e-liquid will have a BBD of approximately 2 years. Even past the BBD, the e-liquid remains safe to vaporise and will not be harmful to health.
