The 50/50 PG/VG ratio: a versatile balance

An e-liquid is made up of a propylene glycol (PG) and vegetable glycerine (VG) base, flavourings and, where applicable, nicotine. PG carries the flavours and throat hit, while VG provides smoothness and vapour volume. In equal parts, the 50/50 ratio combines these two properties.

Recommended settings

The coil resistance and power determine the draw type. With a 50/50 e-liquid, the following guidelines provide stable vaping:

Always start at the lower end of the power range indicated on the coil, then increase gradually. For the drip tip, a 510 mouthpiece suits most uses; an 810 drip tip can be used for RDL vaping on clearomisers designed for this format.

Maintaining your electronic cigarette

Prime every new coil: place a few drops of e-liquid onto the cotton, fill the tank, then wait 5 to 10 minutes before first use.

Clean regularly the clearomiser or cartridge and drip tip to prevent residue build-up.

Replace the coil as soon as flavours deteriorate or vapour decreases (on average every 1 to 3 weeks depending on use), and take the opportunity to clean the tank thoroughly.

    Je l'avais testé il y a bientôt 3ans mais en 0mg/nicotine et en avais gardé en excellent souvenir!
    Cette fois j'ai voulu le tester en 3mg et 6mg et je suis plus mitigé car les arômes ressortent moins, les notes de miel sont bien présentes, mais les arômes de caramel et céréales sont plus étouffés par la nicotine, le 6mg a limite des notes de tabac blond et/ou de caramel trop cuit qui peuvent devenir écœurant personnellement...
    Mais cela reste un excellent eliquid que je conseille en 0mg ou 3mg maximum!

An e-liquid (or liquid for electronic cigarette) is the product that generates vapour when heated by the coil of an electronic cigarette. Unlike traditional cigarettes, there is no combustion. The e-liquid is made up of a base (propylene glycol and vegetable glycerine), flavourings, and optionally nicotine. It determines the taste, the throat hit, the cloud production, and the overall vaping experience.

An e-liquid generally contains four elements:
  • propylene glycol (PG), which carries the flavours, enhances the throat hit and provides a sensation close to that of a cigarette;
  • vegetable glycerine (VG), responsible for the vapour and the density of the cloud;

An e-liquid with nicotine is intended for vapers who wish to replace traditional cigarettes. Nicotine acts on the feeling of satisfaction and reduces cravings. E-liquids without nicotine are used either at the end of the quitting process, or purely for the enjoyment of vaping, although it is not recommended to vape if you are not a smoker. Choosing the right nicotine level is essential to avoid a bad experience (irritation or cravings). The nicotine dosage depends on your previous cigarette consumption. The propylene glycol / vegetable glycerine ratio strongly influences the vape.
  • An e-liquid rich in propylene glycol or PG (70/30, 80/20) enhances the throat hit, flavour accuracy and a discreet vape. The e-liquid will be thin and compatible only with MTL devices with a tight draw to avoid leaks.
  • An e-liquid rich in vegetable glycerine or VG (30/70) produces more vapour and clouds, with a smoother, sweeter sensation. This thicker e-liquid will be compatible with sub-ohm or shisha-type e-cigarettes, producing large clouds of vapour at high power.
The choice therefore depends on the power and compatibility with your e-cigarette. If in doubt, the most common ratio remains 50/50 PG/VG. Balanced, it allows versatile use on MTL, RDL and light DTL e-cigarette models (between approximately 15 and 40 watts).

E-liquids with a vegetable base or with Végétol replace traditional propylene glycol. The DLUO (Date Limite d'Utilisation Optimale) or BBD (Best Before Date) is an indicative date. Once the e-liquid's date has passed, it may lose its taste qualities and appearance (colour, fluidity). An e-liquid straight from the factory will have a BBD of approximately 2 years. Even past the BBD, the e-liquid remains suitable for vaping and will not be harmful to health.
