Article updated on 16 October 2026 with the price list for 1 November 2026.
The year 2026 has been marked by an unprecedented series of tobacco price increases. After several years of annual price rises, the authorities have this time decided to spread the increases throughout the year in order to maintain constant pricing pressure on tobacco products.
Since the start of the year, five price lists have already come into force:
A sixth price list, approved by the order of 29 September 2026 published in the Official Journal on 4 October, applies from 1 November 2026. A further revision is already planned for 1 January 2027.
This strategy allows manufacturers to adjust their prices gradually while supporting the anti-smoking policy pursued by the public authorities.

** On 1 November 2026, the Marlboro Red soft pack of 20 rises to €14; the hard pack remains at €13.50.
The first increase of the year came into force on 1 January 2026. It affected all tobacco products, including cigarettes, rolling tobacco, cigars and heated tobacco.
The increases observed generally ranged from 10 to 50 cents per pack of 20 cigarettes. This first revision notably allowed several very popular brands to exceed the symbolic €13 threshold.
Among the main changes observed:
This increase marked the start of a particularly eventful year for French smokers.
Just one month after the January increase, a new price update took place on 1 February 2026.
This time, the increases affected a more limited number of products, but some iconic brands still saw their prices rise.
Among the main changes:
Conversely, several major brands such as Marlboro, Camel, Winston, Chesterfield and Philip Morris remained unchanged at this date.
This second increase confirmed the willingness of the public authorities and manufacturers to apply regular adjustments rather than a single large-scale increase.
1 March 2026 marked the third increase of the year and one of the most significant in terms of the number of products affected.
Several brands recorded increases of 20 to 40 cents per pack, with rises sometimes exceeding 3%.
Among the most notable changes:
However, some products remained unchanged:
In a relatively rare occurrence, a few products even recorded a price reduction. This was notably the case for Fortuna Classic Rouge, which fell from €11.50 to €11.40.
This March increase helped establish €13 as the long-term benchmark price for most packs sold in France.
After several months without changes, a new price revision came into force on 1 June 2026.
Unlike the March increase, this update was more limited for traditional cigarettes. Few major national brands saw their prices change, but several specific products were nevertheless affected.
Among the increases observed:
Heated tobacco products also saw a notable increase. Some Heets products rose by one euro to reach €11.50.
June also brought a surprise with price reductions for several Vogue products:
These reductions are all the more remarkable as several Vogue products had seen their prices increase by 30 to 40 cents during the March rise.
Despite these few downward adjustments, the overall trend remains towards a gradual increase in the cost of tobacco in France.
A new tobacco price list came into force on 1 September 2026. Published by the Directorate-General for Customs and Indirect Taxation, it provided for limited changes to cigarettes. The majority of major brands retained their prices.
However, a few products recorded changes:
1 September also marked the arrival of new products, such as Lucky Strike Crafted XXL Red and Baroudeur rolling tobacco, while some products such as Amsterdamer, Django and Old Holborn Original disappeared from the list.
This change remained relatively moderate compared with the previous increases of 2026. Nevertheless, it forms part of the policy of gradually increasing tobacco prices, with the aim of reaching an average price of €13 per pack by 2027.
The 1 November 2026 price list was approved by the order of 29 September 2026, published in the Official Journal on 4 October. It replaces the price list in force since 1 September and applies in metropolitan France.
This is not a general increase: 59 products out of around 5,000 are changing price, with 37 increases and 22 reductions. For cigarettes, only 10 products are affected.
The two cigarette price increases:
Several products are being reduced, including:
The Marlboro Red hard pack remains at €13.50, as do the main Camel and Lucky Strike products.
For rolling tobacco, two 30-gram products, Austin Red and Maya 100 % Tabac, rise from €15.60 to €16. Several heated tobacco products are also increasing, such as the 50-gram pot of Elixyr Ice (€14.20 → €14.80).
The pricing policy pursued in 2026 is aimed at protecting public health. Tobacco remains the leading cause of preventable death in France, with nearly 75,000 deaths attributed to its consumption each year.
Health authorities have long considered increasing cigarette prices to be one of the most effective ways of reducing the number of smokers, particularly among young people.
Rather than a sudden increase likely to prompt advance purchasing behaviour or encourage certain forms of circumvention, the public authorities now favour regular increases throughout the year.
The stated objective is to maintain the prices of the main packs at around €13 or more by 2027.
These successive increases are weighing ever more heavily on consumers' budgets.
For a smoker consuming one €13 pack per day, the monthly budget now reaches almost €390, or around €4,750 per year.
For premium brands exceeding €14 per pack, the annual bill can even exceed €5,000.
With Marlboro Red soft packs at €14 from 1 November 2026, one pack per day represents more than €5,100 per year. A new price revision is already planned for 1 January 2027.
Faced with this continuous increase in the cost of tobacco, many smokers are wondering about solutions that would allow them to reduce their spending while continuing to consume nicotine.
Faced with the regular increase in cigarette prices, many smokers are now choosing electronic cigarettes as part of their smoking cessation journey.
Vaping generally makes it possible to significantly reduce the budget allocated to nicotine while offering the option of gradually adjusting the dosage.
Le Vapoteur Discount supports thousands of smokers every year in their transition to electronic cigarettes, thanks to a wide selection of equipment suitable for beginners and experienced users alike.
In our shop, you will find electronic cigarettes, pods, e-liquids and accessories selected to meet the needs of people wishing to stop smoking or reduce their tobacco consumption.
