An e-liquid is a consumable intended exclusively for use with an e-cigarette. The 100 ml format is sold nicotine-free, usually in a 120 ml bottle designed to hold up to two boosters. It can be vaped as is at 0 mg/ml or topped up with one or two nicotine boosters. For a higher strength, the blend is prepared in a large empty graduated bottle. Slightly richer in vegetable glycerine than a 50/50, it delivers more generous vapour and a softer hit, while still offering good flavour delivery, for semi-direct inhalation (RDL).
Adding a booster is optional: 100 ml e-liquid can be vaped perfectly well without nicotine. If you want nicotine, the number of boosters added determines the final strength:
| Boosters added (10 ml at 20 mg/ml) | Final volume | Strength obtained | Container | Profile |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| None | 100 ml | 0 mg/ml | Original bottle | Nicotine-free vaping, flavour enjoyment |
| 1 booster | 110 ml | ≈ 2 mg/ml | Original bottle | Very low nicotine requirement |
| 2 boosters | 120 ml | ≈ 3 mg/ml | Original bottle | Occasional smoker, RDL vaping |
| 3 boosters | 130 ml | ≈ 4.5 mg/ml | Large graduated bottle | Moderate smoker, RDL vaping |
| 4 boosters | 140 ml | ≈ 6 mg/ml | Large graduated bottle | Moderate smoker, MTL or restricted RDL vaping |
The strengths obtained are rounded (exactly 1.8, 3.3, 4.6 and 5.7 mg/ml). The original 120 ml bottle holds a maximum of two boosters: from three boosters onwards, the blend must be transferred to a large bottle. With RDL, nicotine is felt slightly more strongly than with MTL: two boosters are often enough. For nicotine requirements above 6 mg/ml, the 10 ml format or nicotine salts are more suitable.
Up to 3 mg/ml, in the original bottle:

Le Vapoteur Discount boosters come in 10 ml bottles (strength stated on each product page). The nicotine type and base alter the throat sensation. With a 40/60 e-liquid, each 50/50 booster raises the PG share very slightly: the blend stays close to 42/58.
| Booster | Sensation | Who is it for? |
|---|---|---|
| 50/50 nicotine booster | Classic throat hit, neutral taste | The standard choice, compatible with all ratios |
| 70/30 nicotine booster | More pronounced throat hit, enhanced flavours | MTL vaping, for those seeking a sensation close to a cigarette |
| Fresh 50/50 nicotine booster | Classic throat hit with a refreshing touch | Fans of fresh fruity or menthol flavours |
| Nicotine Salt Booster | Very smooth throat hit | Vapers sensitive to throat hit or looking for smoothness |
| Fresh Nicotine Salt Booster | Smooth and refreshing throat hit | Nicotine salt smoothness with a fresh note |
| Hybrid Nicotine Booster | A balance of throat hit and smoothness | A compromise between classic nicotine and nicotine salts |

An e-liquid is made up of a base of propylene glycol (PG) and vegetable glycerine (VG), flavourings and, where applicable, nicotine. PG carries flavours and provides the throat hit, while VG adds smoothness and vapour volume. With 60% VG, this ratio sits between 50/50 and 30/70: denser vapour than a 50/50, a smooth throat sensation and flavours that remain well defined.

Slightly thicker than a 50/50, a 40/60 e-liquid suits coils from 0.4 to 1.0 Ω. On a pod with a very tight draw (coil above 1.2 Ω), it may saturate the cotton more slowly.
40/60 performs best on versatile, RDL-oriented equipment that can properly power a 0.4 to 1.0 Ω coil. Here are the most suitable equipment families and a few examples available from Le Vapoteur Discount:
| Equipment | Key points | Examples |
|---|---|---|
| E-cigarettes | Versatile kits, adjustable from open MTL to RDL. | Kit Coolfire Z80 Zenith 2 – Innokin Gozee Kit – Innokin GTX One Pro 40 W Kit – Vaporesso |
| Pods | Pods with adjustable airflow, compatible with 0.4 to 1.0 Ω coils. | Kit Luxe XR Max 2 – Vaporesso Kit Pixo Max – Aspire Drag X3 Kit – Voopoo |
| Clearomisers | Choose RDL models compatible with 0.4 to 1.0 Ω coils. | Zenith 2 – Innokin Z Nano 3 – GeekVape GOZ+ – Innokin |
The coil resistance and power determine the draw type. With a 100 ml 40/60 e-liquid, the following guidelines provide stable vaping:
| Coil | Draw type | Suggested power |
|---|---|---|
| 0.8 to 1.0 Ω | MTL to RDL – intermediate draw | 15 to 22 W |
| 0.6 to 0.8 Ω | RDL – semi-airy draw | 20 to 30 W |
| 0.4 to 0.6 Ω | RDL – more open draw | 25 to 40 W |
Always start at the bottom of the power range indicated on the coil, then increase gradually. For the drip tip, a 510 mouthpiece suits an intermediate draw; for RDL, an 810 drip tip makes it easier for vapour to pass through on clearomisers designed for this format.
Remember to recycle: empty bottles should be disposed of at suitable collection points.

An e-liquid (or liquid for electronic cigarettes) is the product that generates vapour when heated by the coil of an electronic cigarette. Unlike traditional cigarettes, there is no combustion. The e-liquid is composed of a base (propylene glycol and vegetable glycerin), flavourings, and optionally nicotine. It determines the taste, throat sensation, cloud production, and overall vaping experience.
An e-liquid generally contains four elements:
Some formulas also use alternative plant-based bases (Végétol) for a smoother experience.
An e-liquid with nicotine is intended for vapers who wish to replace traditional cigarettes. Nicotine acts on the feeling of satisfaction and helps reduce cravings. Nicotine-free e-liquids are used either at the end of a quitting process, or purely for the enjoyment of vaping, even though vaping is not recommended if you are not a smoker. Choosing the right nicotine level is essential to avoid a poor experience (throat irritation or cravings). The nicotine dosage depends on your previous cigarette consumption. A light smoker will not have the same needs as a heavy smoker. A level that is too low can lead to frustration and relapse, while a level that is too high can cause throat discomfort. The goal is to find a balance between throat hit, sensation and vaping comfort, adjusting gradually as needed. A low dosage of 0, 3 or 6 mg/ml of nicotine is generally recommended for light or occasional smokers (fewer than 7 cigarettes per day), and a high dosage of 20 mg/ml of nicotine salt for heavy smokers (1 pack of cigarettes or more). However, this dosage can be adjusted depending on your e-cigarette and your vaping style.
Nicotine salt is a more stable and smoother form of nicotine to inhale. It provides rapid absorption with a less harsh throat hit, even at high levels. Nicotine salt e-liquids are particularly suited to beginner vapers, former heavy smokers, and low-wattage MTL kits. Various nicotine salt dosages are available. The best-known and most effective is 20 mg/ml, highly suited to heavy smokers. However, a 10 mg/ml dosage may be perfectly suitable for a regular or occasional smoker.
A nicotine booster is a nicotine-concentrated bottle designed to be added to a large-format e-liquid. It allows you to adjust the final nicotine level according to the quantity added. Flexible and economical, this solution lets you boost your large-format e-liquid to 3 or 6 mg/ml of nicotine. For a 50 ml e-liquid, adding one nicotine booster will give you 3 mg/ml; two nicotine boosters will turn your e-liquid into 6 mg/ml.
The propylene glycol / vegetable glycerin ratio strongly influences the vaping experience.
The choice therefore depends on the power and compatibility with your e-cigarette. If in doubt, the most common ratio remains 50/50 PG/VG. Balanced, it allows versatile use across MTL, RDL and light DTL e-cigarette models (approximately between 15 and 40 watts).
Plant-based or Végétol e-liquids replace traditional propylene glycol. They are often gentler on the throat, better tolerated by vapers sensitive to PG, and offer a smoother vape without compromising on flavour. However, they should be used in MTL mode at low wattage (minimum 30 watts) to avoid the risk of leaks and to preserve the quality of the product.
Yes, CBD e-liquids are designed for vaping and generally do not contain nicotine. They offer a different sensation, focused on relaxation, without any addictive effect. They should be used at moderate wattage to preserve the quality of the product. A tight-draw MTL electronic cigarette is recommended for use with them.
E-liquids are considered a much healthier alternative to smoked tobacco. They are formulated from ingredients certified as safe for health, unlike the 7,000 harmful substances found in traditional cigarettes. Nevertheless, to choose a safe e-liquid, a few precautions should be taken, such as purchasing your e-liquid from a recognised retailer like Le Vapoteur Discount, or checking the composition and origin by favouring reputable and regulated brands.
An e-liquid manufactured in France meets strict requirements and European directives on traceability, quality control and safety. As a guarantee of quality and transparency for the consumer, French and European brands generally have their own laboratory for developing their e-liquid formulas and are required to have that formulation assessed by an independent laboratory before going to market. These steps ensure that e-liquids are safe for vapers. French and European quality standards prohibit undesirable substances and provide a more secure framework for vaping.
To keep your e-liquid as long as possible and preserve its quality, taste and colour, you should store it in its original bottle and ideally away from light, heat and air. Despite these precautions, the e-liquid may sometimes take on a slightly brown tint. Safe and fit for consumption, this colour is due to the oxidation of the nicotine and may also depend on the flavouring used in the e-liquid. It is generally recommended not to keep the same e-liquid for more than 5 days in your clearomiser or pod cartridge if you are not using it, to avoid leaks and excessive oxidation.
The DLUO (Best Before Date) or BBD (Best Before Date) is an indicative date. Once the e-liquid's date has passed, it may lose its taste qualities and appearance (colour, consistency). An e-liquid fresh from the factory will have a BBD of approximately 2 years. Even past its BBD, the e-liquid remains safe to vaporise and will not be harmful to health.
