What amount of nicotine is in a cigarette?

The nicotine level in a cigarette varies depending on the brand and the preparation of the tobacco.  

The actual amount of nicotine must therefore remain imprecise.
It is not always the quantity of tobacco that generates the quantity of nicotine. 

Only the product preparation procedure makes it possible to know this.
A study by the behavioral endocrinology laboratory at Penn State University, based on cigarettes from English-speaking countries, defined a range: from 0.65 mg to 13.4 mg per 0.65 g and 1 g of tobacco.

Many rumors circulate about the actual content of cigarettes and the amount of nicotine they contain. 

But there is now an answer: 10.2 mg

This is the result of a study conducted by researchers at Penn State University, who analyzed 32 American brands, 23 Canadian brands and 37 British brands. The results are published in the Journal of Pharmacology and Experimental Therapeutics.

The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention conducted a similar study and reported a nicotine content of 19.2 mg per gram of tobacco. 

However, the research from Penn State University's laboratory appears more precise and realistic given the range of products tested.

The electronic cigarette as an alternative to the traditional cigarette 

Today, the electronic cigarette is perceived as the ultimate nicotine substitute. It supports smokers in a healthy and gradual smoking cessation process, to help them quit smoking.

To do this, the electronic cigarette applies a temperature between 200 (recommended for e-liquids with a vegetable base such as an eliquide Protect) and 300°C to a coil in order to vaporize a liquid and its aroma. The latter optionally contains nicotine.

According to the regulations of the authorities responsible for the tobacco market, the maximum nicotine limit that must be observed in an e-liquid for vaping is 20mg/mL whether it has a tobacco flavor or not.
It is entirely possible to obtain the same dose of nicotine as a pack of cigarettes.

The functioning of an electronic cigarette and its vaporization process differs, however, from the combustion of physical tobacco (at nearly 800°C).
The amount of vaporized nicotine that a vaper absorbs to obtain the same sensation as the smoke from a traditional cigarette remains undefined.

If you are used to smoking a cigar or a roll-up, it is impossible to judge your dosage as there are no minimum benchmarks for this type of product, especially since these are not necessarily fully inhaled into the lungs.
