E-cigarettes and summer: the right habits to adopt

What to do:

• Keep your vape in the shade, in a bag or insulated pouch.

• Avoid leaving it on a table in direct sunlight (even for a 10-minute nap).

• Choose cool places, even when you are out and about.

2. Vape vs salt water: who wins?

Spoiler: water always wins. If your e-cigarette falls into the sea or a swimming pool, it may not recover. Electronics and moisture are really not friends.

What to do if it falls into water:

• Switch it off immediately, if you have not already done so.

• Remove the battery if it is removable (never with a sealed pod, obviously).

• Dry it carefully with a soft cloth.

• Place it in a bag of rice for 24 to 48 hours (the old wives' remedy still works!).

• Test it once it is completely dry, but above all, do not switch it back on too soon.

What not to do:

• Do not rinse it (even if it is tempting after a dip in salt water).

• Do not try to recharge it straight afterwards.

3. Watch out for sand: the connectors' worst enemy

Ah, the joys of sand getting everywhere… And your e-cig is no exception. A single grain of sand can damage the connectors or jam the switch, and then you are in trouble.

Good practice:

• Use a protective case or a small dedicated pouch.

• Always store your vape in a closed bag rather than in a sand-filled shorts pocket.

• Regularly clean the threads and connectors with a dry cotton bud.

4. Vaping and hydration: not just for you!
