In this article, discover the answers to your questions so you can avoid this kind of problem in future.
How does a rechargeable electronic puff work?
Since 2025, disposable puffs have been banned and replaced by rechargeable puffs. Here is what you need to know about how they work.
What is a rechargeable puff?
- A compact and convenient form of e-cigarette, generally fitted with a pre-filled pod;
- It contains a battery, coil, liquid tank and LED;
- A rechargeable model is more environmentally friendly and offers a better choice of flavours and nicotine strengths.
Lifespan and battery life
- Battery capacity: varies by model, between 300 and 1,000 mAh;
- Number of puffs: varies according to capacity and use.
Why is my puff flashing red?
On a puff, a red flashing light can have several meanings. Here are the possible causes:
- Low or flat battery: the electronic puff indicates an empty battery by flashing red;
- Coil problem: an incorrectly fitted or worn coil will cause your puff to malfunction, indicated by a red signal;
- Insufficient liquid: an almost empty tank can put your puff into safety mode to avoid damaging the coil;
- Short circuit: your puff protects itself by flashing red in the event of an electronic malfunction.
How do I identify the problem?
- Flashing frequency: rapid flashing means a technical issue, while slow flashing indicates a flat battery;
- LED colour: red means an error, while blue or white may indicate other types of alert;
- The pod: try a new pod if your puff uses interchangeable pods.
What do the different flashing colours mean?
Why is my puff flashing blue?
- Blue flashing: a medium battery level;
- Rapid blue flashing: a connection error between the pod and the box mod.
Meaning of LED colours
- Red: low battery or safety mode activated;
- Blue: battery half full or normal operation;
- White or green: battery charged.
Common usage mistakes
- Not priming the coil: risk of a burnt taste;
- Using a liquid that is too thick: poor coil wicking;
- Taking too many draws on the puff: battery overheating and safety flashing;
- Not recharging in time: possible battery damage.
