A large number of vapers looking for the e-cig that produces the biggest vapor clouds often find themselves having to choose between a multitude of models without really knowing where to start.
To start with, this trend of wanting to be a true vapor machine has a name: Power Vaping!
Since its creation, the e-cigarette has undergone constant evolution, with devices featuring the latest technologies, adapting to all types of vapers on the market, with carefully crafted designs, new features to catch the eye and stand out from other manufacturers present on the market.
Power Vaping is a trend that emerged from this evolution, with the desire to manufacture ever more powerful and high-performing devices that can sometimes reach up to 200 watts and beyond, offering e-cigarette users a new way to vape and discover new vaping sensations.
Sub-Ohm vaping appeared alongside power vaping — it is a specific designation applied to an intense vaping sensation. Sub Ohm is a term used to indicate that the coil resistance value is below 1 ohm, which generally means a more open draw, higher wattage ranges, and a more intense vaping sensation, referred to as direct-to-lung vaping.
Sub-Ohm has therefore revolutionized the world of e-cigarettes by introducing direct-to-lung vaping, whereas in its early days the equipment was mainly made up of low-resistance coils with a limited wattage range, indirect inhalation and little power, with coils mostly at 1 ohm and above.
It is important to emphasize that when you start using an e-cigarette with the goal of quitting smoking, you should not rush the process and immediately opt for a device that is too powerful.
Indeed, more vapor means more nicotine to vaporize with each puff (depending on whether you vape with or without, of course). What you need to understand is that when you have a powerful device, you will inhale a larger quantity of vapor at once, so the hit will be more pronounced than on a device where inhalation is reduced, which makes sense.
Using a Sub Ohm coil requires a certain level of knowledge to avoid potential irritation or coughing fits that can occur when the vapor passing through the throat is too powerful for the user.
When this phenomenon occurs too early in the vaping experience and you do not have much experience, it could discourage you if you do not have the right equipment suited to your needs. This is why this type of coil is not the best option when you are starting out with an e-cigarette for smoking cessation.
Be aware that purchasing an e-cig that produces a lot of vapor will necessarily require you to vape direct-to-lung, with a powerful inhalation.
Direct-to-lung inhalation is, as the name suggests, an inhalation in one step — when you press the fire button to draw on your e-cigarette, ignition is immediate and you inhale a large quantity of vapor all at once. This type of draw can be compared to that of a shisha, and can also be described as an open-lung draw.
As you will have understood, this type of draw is the complete opposite of the habits of former cigarette smokers, who were used to a two-step inhalation: first inhaling the vapor into the mouth before inhaling it again down into the lungs.
This type of draw also exists in e-cigarettes and is called a "tight" draw, more commonly known as "mouth-to-lung inhalation," for a less dense vapor production — this is the type of draw that works best with coils of 1 ohm and above.
What you need to remember is that e-cigarettes producing a lot of vapor will be recommended for experienced vapers and not first-time vapers (beginners), who will rather be advised to use small, low-powered devices so they can get used to the sensation of vapor first, before moving up a level in pursuit of power.
Although we have just provided you with advice to guide your choice of e-cigarette, vaping remains a personal practice — you should therefore take your own profile and needs into account before moving towards a type of e-cigarette that is right for you.
It is therefore important to try different vaping equipment so that you can find the one that suits you best, without any constraints during your smoking cessation journey.
There are two key factors for producing a lot of vapor:
The use of an e-cigarette with enough power and an open, adjustable airflow.
The use of an e-liquid with a high Vegetable Glycerin (VG) content.
On the other hand, if you already have a vape device and your favorite e-liquid but do not wish to change them, it may be possible to increase the power of your battery, provided your coils allow it.
For example, if you are vaping on your e-cig at 15 watts, but your coils and your e-cigarette allow for a power of up to 30 watts, do not hesitate to increase the power of your battery to get more power and therefore more vapor.
You will already notice a significant difference in vapor production. Also, do not hesitate to check whether your clearomizer (tank) can accommodate coils with a higher intensity than yours — which is not the case with pre-filled e-cigarette cartridge ranges. Remember that your clearomizer is capable of accepting various coils, and even while keeping the same model you can easily choose the same type of coil but with different wattage ranges, allowing you to select a higher or lower intensity.
If nothing is holding you back from changing your equipment and your e-liquid, here are the steps to take.
Box-format e-cigarettes generally offer high power output, long battery life, and a wide range of settings such as: temperature control and wattage adjustment.
When you have a coil with high power output, your box must be adjusted according to the intensity delivered by the coil, so producing a lot of power requires a box with enough battery life to provide it. This is why we recommend opting for boxes with removable batteries, for greater autonomy.
There are several advantages, including the possibility of having multiple batteries to rotate and never running out of power, but it is also a significant factor in the lifespan of your e-cigarette. If your e-cigarette has a built-in battery and it reaches the end of its life, you will have to replace it, whereas with removable batteries you only need to swap the batteries and not the entire e-cigarette.
For greater comfort when using removable batteries, we recommend choosing the model with the highest mAh possible — logically, a 4500 mAh battery will have more autonomy than a 3000 mAh battery. Similarly, do not hesitate to get a battery charger to recharge your batteries. This option maximizes the lifespan of your equipment and will also mean you never have to wait for your e-cigarette to recharge — you simply switch to another set of batteries!
The clearomizers you should select to produce a lot of vapor will need to be equipped with an airflow that allows you to regulate the intensity of the vapor produced. Likewise, the tank should be large enough to hold a good amount of liquid, since — just like the battery — the e-liquid will be consumed more quickly. And of course, make sure your drip tip (mouthpiece) is wide enough to inhale the vapor properly.
Furthermore, the choice of your coils is very important — you should favor sub-ohm coils below 1 Ohm, with high wattage ranges, allowing you to reach the intensity you are looking for.
Finally, your mouthpiece, most commonly called a "drip tip", will need to be wide enough to allow a large quantity of vapor to pass through, and thus allow your coil to cool down properly thanks to the amount of air inhaled
Note that the choice of your e-liquid will play an important role in your flavor production.
Indeed, the higher the Vegetable Glycerin (VG) content of your e-liquid, the more capable it will be of producing large vapor clouds, as glycerin is a viscous substance well suited to heating at high temperatures — unlike propylene glycol, which is too liquid to withstand such heat.
It is therefore important to choose an e-liquid with a higher VG ratio than the Propylene Glycol (PG) ratio. To achieve this, Le Vapoteur Discount recommends opting for a minimum glycerin content of 50%, though 70% or 80% options also exist.
At Le Vapoteur Discount you will find a wide selection of e-liquids with a 65% VG content, such as the Blizz 50 ml e-liquid by Ekoms Lab or the 50 ml Dinner Lady range.
Finally, our top e-cigarette choice allowing you to produce a good quantity of vapor and achieve an incredible vaping power while maintaining a pleasant vapor sensation and well-defined flavors. We recommend the Aegis Legend 2 (L200) kit from Geek Vape.
