How to build your own e-cigarette coil?

Building an e-cigarette coil: what tools do you need?

To build your own custom coils, you will need a few building tools. Rest assured, however, these tools will cost you at most only a few euros. We suggest you obtain the following items for building your e-cigarette coil:

1. A mini diagonal cutter 

This will be used to cut the wires when building your own e-cigarette coil. A screwdriver will also be necessary if you do not wish to purchase a complete building kit.

2. An e-cigarette coil building kit:

Your e-cigarette coil building kit will contain all the tools needed to create coils of different diameters. Indeed, the base, the winding rods, and the covers are essential tools when you are considering making your own e-cigarette coils.

Building an e-cigarette coil: what are the steps?

Step 1: cut the wire

First, you need to cut a piece of wire from your spool. Ideally, it should be between 10 and 15 cm long, but beginners can cut it between 15 and 20 cm, which will help you adjust the size of the coil afterwards. 

Step 2: wind your coil

Next, you need to wind the wire to create the coil. What you use to wind it depends on the tools available to you. If you have purchased an e-cigarette coil building kit, you will wind the wire firmly around your winding rods. If not, and if you are using more basic tools, you can simply use a screwdriver to help you with this step.

When winding the wire, round it until you achieve the desired number of loops, which will help you obtain the ideal resistance. Try to maintain firm tension as this will help keep the coil tight and sturdy, which is crucial if you want to build a quality e-cigarette coil. Also avoid overlapping the coil as you wind it, and make sure the ends are pointing in the same direction when you have finished winding it.

Step 3: install your coil

To install your new coil, detach the tank and carefully insert the two ends of the coil, one into the positive slot and the other into the negative slot. Try to keep the coil centred and the wires entering the slots as straight as possible, then gently tighten the screws.

Step 4: wick your coil

Cut a piece of cotton and thread it through your coil, making sure it overhangs on each side. Place the cotton under the coil to help it absorb your e-liquid and there you go! You have now built your own e-cigarette coil, which is ready to use immediately.
